If progress was as it is?
« on: July 23, 2004, 11:10:10 pm »
To the Devs
I\'m sorry but i hate waiting, so, if any of you could just answer this question...

If progress with testing and stuff was as it is at these times until the release of CB, how long would we still have to wait?

Please, i can\'t pretend that i\'m a very patient person, but i don\'t want to rush you guys, just want to know how long i would have to wait.
love

I can gladly answer this question for the Devs:

When its ready.

They\'re working hard, and its probably more than they need to do. Again, they don\'t make a deadline because making one and then breaking it would be irresponsible. This isn\'t some video game company out to get money, so try a little harder to pretend you\'re a patient person.

I realise that and i tried not to imply that i am asking for a deadline in my post. I only asked for them to provide us with, well you\'ll see what if you look at my post. That right there is far from a deadline because
1) I don\'t know how work has been going these days.
2) I don\'t know if they shall maintain that standard of work, whatever it is.

That doesn\'t really tell you much, sure what their working on...but there is no way to know if it is needed for the next release.

Though I hope the release doesn\'t come til August, I still have work to finish before then. ;)

I\'m sure you guys are :D

Can\'t you just wait until this game blazon\'s the covers of every game mag out there? What a great feeling it\'ll be to know that you did your best to work out the bugs.

I think this is more important :)

And trust me, I was just as impatient and frustrated as the next person, but then I stopped being stupid.

The killer with debugging is that not only is your pace of work unpredicatable, but *you have no idea* how much longer it will take.  Bugs have a funny way of \"magically appearing\"

That said, I\'ll probably have a working Mac OS X installer in a week or so, but expect things to be a little rougher graphically on OS X since very few of the Crystal Space devs have the chance to optimize for the Mac.

We are just starting to test with more people at one server, and with real maps so the bugs that were invisible for devs running their own individual servers are popping up.

@DarkMaster & all the other Mac users:
Don\'t worry, it\'s not nearly as bad as it was when MB came out.  For all I know performance is just as good as the PC, it\'s just that issues specific to the Mac (especially differences in the speed of various operations) are less likely to be resolved quickly.  We\'ll see how it goes;  I hope to spend some time profiling CS performance on my and other computers in the next few months.

@tangerine: Good luck with the testing, but it sounds like there\'s a ways to go yet if you\'ve only just started hammering on the multiplayer.  No prob for me, just more time to get things working :)

Well, most bugs should be no problem because we always run multiplayer, but with 1 player (sometimes 2 but rarely).
Most bugs we find are small ones like features that have become broken

Shouldn\'t take another ? year atleast :D

Yes, you\'re sorry for asking a question that has been asked before, and I\'m sorry for closing the thread. Really, learn to use the search button. It\'s much faster since you dont have to wait for replies, and everything that gets replied is the same anyway. Now go and search instead! :)
