MONSTER-Class1-A (lessor demon)
« on: July 27, 2004, 11:09:52 am »
Sorry for the large size image, I\'ve tried to scale it down several times. Though my programs see it at the actual size as well as another Forum I used to test. It remains large on this Forum for some reason =/

-edit- Odd, it is now at it\'s original size =)

Class 1 - Type A - Lessor Demon

In astral form they roam the world in search of the buried corpses who\'s soul twisted from murderous exploits. Once found the demonic spirit begins the feast of both corpse and it\'s astral imprint of exploits in life. Obtaining the knowledge of the bodies original owner, it too aquires the thirst of the exploits ten fold. Risen once again the creature begins it\'s ritual of rebirth through mutilation of the skin and reformation. In some cases ancient runic symbols are etched into the skin. Completed it then begins it\'s journey among the living in search of fresh meat to feed upon.

Level : Moderate
Strength : High
Speed : Very Low
Intelligence : Moderate (clouded by hatered)

Abilities : Projects fear and Darkness, Curse on touch, Life Drain if bitten and/or scratched.

Items : Crown of Flesh (crafted from the flesh of the corpse), if symbols are present the crown contains additional abilities. Favored by Necromancers as it provides enchancements to their Dark Arts.

-edit- my bad, the body in which is depicted here just happen to fall apart on the poor thing. Guess it will need to be a little more picky if it wants legs.

Aye I didn\'t name it, the Lessor Demon would be a form of race classification. Class1 ranks it on a form of power level, each number higher is 10 times more powerful than the last number class. Type A is the catagory in which the creature falls under. As for what it shall be seen in game if ever chosen is really up to the Dev\'s or who ever would make that decision. Heck it could just be a simple Crawler like in Diablo.

-edit- ahhh I see, well what ever the game that shall not be named is, regarless of who or what it may be. Demon stems far beyond any corperation of today. Beyond even several generations, so aye another may have used Lessor Demon to classify their creature, fact is it\'s been around longer than any of us. Lessor Demon, Spirits of the Damned or what have you. It simply classifies that it belongs to a specific race/type of creature/thing. If we were to apply \"extreame censorship\" then I\'m sure the game that shall not be named had used words like sword, bow, building, skill, strength, agility, will, intelligence, elf, dwarf, backpack, sack or what have you to classify the item/thing in the category it belongs.

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

I don\'t see how Jimmy Lawlor stolen it ? ....

-edit- K thought the reference pointed to his painting, aye they may have taken it from Diablo and in turn they had taken it from some other company. Reaching far beyond the time lines of our past to the point of biblical age. Truth is no one had stolen anything, it\'s just there and always have been. Some had taken it up as others did not, no different from PS, just because you renamed it to something else it is still what it is... regardless of how the censorship applies, it\'s just a self inflicted delusional state.

Nice monster!  It looks super sweet and I like the detailed information you provided.  Sounds like a very nasty creature... I don\'t feel like I\'d be able to fight one very soon.  GJ and keep up the great work.

Nice pic :) It\'s cool to see some unfinished work. Can you post a bigger version so we can see the details/rendering better?

[Mogura edit: Changed to an URL because it broke the tables waaaay too much :)]

-edit- my bad

Aye, I love it when I find unfinished work as well, gives me a chance to study their methods. Though if there is something you need on clarification I can comply with some sample schematics on guide lines.

The detail is amazing and it looks quite vicious. Nice drawing.

Wow :) Incredible detail on the chains, and your shading on the metal claw is fantastic. Are we going to see it finished? :)

I fear not as it served a dual purpose role of a NPC idea and allowing other artists to reverse engineer the work. Currently my oldest son is doing just that with this piece, along with some tutoring. It\'s sorta like contributing back unfinished work from all the other artist\'s that had done the same. About 24 years ago I was doing stick figures, but all it took was one unfinished piece and a short how to from one artist that changed everything from that point on. A couple years after that I was searching for unfinished work locally to pick up on their styles and methods, though rare. Wish us old farts had the internet then, would have been much easier. But it had gotten to the point to where I was collecting Victoria Secret Cat. , Playboy and the such just to reverse engineer the models. Aye my parents found them, and were very concerned, especially when they looked in them. I had converted them into \"how to draw\" books... But a few years of that and I started formulating schematics, and never really needed the books or models again.

-edit- Slapped something together really quick on a simple schematic, giving a glimpse of what is under the Crown of Flesh. Though it exceeds downward rather than a couple screens to the right and it be only around 85kb =) Got to lazy to code the images on one at a time so I made one long one. No instructions added, guide lines speak for themselves. Also I tested it to point to the image rather than plopping it on the board, lost nearly all the guidelines in doing so...
