I know,
« on: July 29, 2004, 06:20:40 am »
I know this has been asked before, I just don\'t know where.
If they haven\'t decided to do it already I think it would be cool if you were a tailor/armoursmith/etc you could design your own clothes and armour. I imagine right now when you\'re making something you  need to gather the necessary materials and select a fashion to make. Though, if you could design and make your own clothes and armour that would provide limitless variety and many more customization options among characters and what they wear. For example, making armour or clothes unique to only your guild. Then someone familiar with the guilds could tell by looking at you where you\'re from.

I don\'t know if they already planned to do this in(I didn\'t think they did) or if it\'s been answered before, so I put it up anyway.

Seems like I saw this before... No matter! If you don\'t know where, try the search button :P

I agree that this is a good concept and I think they were contemplating it (there is a command called /guildsymbol though it may be unsubscribed in mb?).

However, texturing armor would only cause much yelping and shouting and \"why the hack does my person\'s armor look pink?!\" I think that a designated area of about 3/4 of a square foot for a designated guildsymbol would be nice... the guildmaster would provide a symbol and when a member goes to buy armor they would be asked whether they wanted their symbol on it (they may not if travelling \'in cognito\') and a spy could possibly bribe the smith to put another guild\'s symbol on the armor but they would have to supply the image themselves and, chances are, they wouldn\'t manage a completely accurate reproduction, which could allow members to pick out a spy in their midst :) The guild symbols would be small bitmaps and they would be stored in the database and when update time comes then they will be dumped as part of the update, but until then, there is a lag  as you encounter a player with a new guild symbol and have to download the bitmap.

I\'ve rambled far too long... even farther when you consider this is a potential duplicate thread :-/

I wasn\'t just talking about that, I meant mostly the wear itself. The style of the armour, how it\'s assembled and what it overall looked like.
But the picture of your guild symbol engraved on the cuirass or something, working like how you explained, is something I was wondering too. Maybe the guild symbols will just be tattoos?

I\'ve seen this before, I\'ve actually brought it up before, but alas any hope of finding it is buried in the middle of page 5 of a 8 page post on something that had a topic completely unrelated to anything.

i believe i read something about designing and such, just dont know where. It was something like you make armor or weapons or such, and because of all the customisations you can choose between you can almost make (design) your own pieces.
Each item you create would even bear your own mark somewhere so that you know if a piece of armor/weaponry is yours or some1 elses.

Being able to create your own (clothes/swords/armour/flags/hair) with custom graphics has been brought up several times before.  The difficulty lies in the implementation - how are these custom materials transmitted to the server?  Are we going to put measures in place to reduce the number of guild logos which consist of obscenities?

If a good in-game system can be developed that allows artisans to have a \"personal style\" then that would definitely be cool, but we need to consider all the implications and difficulties of such a system.

No...you make the clothes/armor how you want because you are the tailor/smith. NPCs will make their own styles...

I think in that case, they should ask a human player to make it for them.

i like the whol idea of custom armor/clothing/weps but i agree it would be hard to implament a system that would work 4 evry 1.
it could be i think much easeier 4 guilds .
