What is ahead?

I am just sitting here thinking...

 In all these movies back tens of years ago our world is imaged with flying vehicles and robots,cities in space..don\'t forget the one colored uniforms and all the other jetson type qualities!

Well since we are hitting those years that have been predicted to be so futuristic in the past, and since none of it really has come true. Its our generations turn to predict the future years of society, cultures, environment, fashion, pop culture, entertainment, material objects and domination!

What do you believe is waiting for us in the future....?

  Personally I fear for the worst, with things as they are..I fear that it won\'t stop, the fighting won\'t stop, the terrorism won\'t stop. I fear one day waking up to find my town laying in rubble and cars blowing up, buildings collapsing and other precisious people and memories lost...I believe our future not to be one of Robots destroying the world, or countrys destroying the world...it will come from within...I hope we get to see the day of flying vehicles and cities in space, I want what the people of the past wanted and nothing less!

Hmm, well who knows, there may be a new age coming.  We could find another element that completely changes everything we believed

As for the far futur, I really hope one day people will look back on us and say \"I can\'t believe they really believed science was resonsible for all those things\" just like we look back on what people believed god did

The future is written by sci-fi authors. Man travelling through space was an idea first concieved in sci-fi. So was travelling to the bottom of the ocean. So was many gadgets we use commonly today (like mobile handheld communicators (phones)). Also, artificial life and robots were invisioned by sci-fi authors in their works long before anyone had begun trying to build them.

Just because we don\'t all wear tacky uniforms doesn\'t mean anything. And just because nobody lives on the moon or Mars, doesn\'t mean it will always be that way. If anyone has seen recent documentaries on technology and space travel, you\'ll have heard of plans to build inhabitable structures and mini-ecosystems on bodies other than Earth.

well we are going into space (i mean really into it) mars is planed for 2010 it was planned in the 70\'s but they gave up as no one was interesed enough ?(

you see whats going to happen is, i\'m going to start my company here in a few months, and then all my family\'s companies (my family is big on starting buisness) will come to me after a while

sooo...

when i get all my big bucks, i\'m going to hire ALOT of mexicans (i\'m texan) b/c they sport cheap cheap labor, and that\'ll be my army, first i\'ll take over and modernize mexico, then i\'ll start South america. Then Asia...then everwhere else MWHAHA(it\'s almot more detailed then that, but i do plan to continue space exploration once i\'m in control.)

I believe the world\'s coming to an end soon, but that\'s because I\'m a Christian and base my beliefs on the Bible.

While to some extent I share your belief, the end of the world has much in common with CB - ever since about 35AD it is \"soon\"... and when we finally stop expecting it, *wham*, there ya go

Actually, to be fair, I think there was a long stretch during which many theologians took the position of \"ammillenialism\" and a slow, steady progression to a unified kingdom of God on Earth.  I personally don\'t think the imagery in Revelation corresponds to a slow, steady progression but I certainly cannot proclaim myself to understand strange dreams and prophecy from a couple millenia ago.  

In the case that the world doesn\'t end in the next couple hundred years, I anticipate a growing loss of privacy to governments, but at the same time an increase in corporate and lobbyist influence, especially in western democracies.  China will also probably play a big role...  using genetic engineering & nanotechnology, there will be major implications in medical treatments for those who can afford it.  The average populations in the \"wealthy\" countries will slowly become less active and healthy (and competent) until the economy either crashes or is saved from crashing by manipulation of people who are already in power and want to maintain the status quo.

How\'s that for doom and gloom?  If the world doesn\'t end, most of our grandchildren will be lazy and stupid

What is this \"Future\"? The future never exists! Not materially of course, but the future is what we make it!
We could encounter a period of economic growth and invent personal jetpacks (OH MAN THAT WOULD BE SOO COOL!).
Or we could continue in a downward spiral, and the present city and civiclization itself be buried under barbarism, where we club each other to death and feast on the warm inside.

Remember, the future is what we make, a select few people have the choice of changing the future and those are country and world leaders,not only people like politicians, but medical companies, and the science market.

So no one tell me the future can be predicted! The only thing that can be predicted and not accurately all the time is the weather!

Why? There is nothing wrong with setting your goals high.  I admire Druke for being so bold as to attempt world domination, I on the other hand would be happy to rule my own country.  You know Druke, I could assist you in your plans and all that I request is a little province for me to rule with an iron fist.

I say, when war breaks out, all of the major cities will be hit, but the smaller cities will be spared damnation because we\'re just not major military targets. by the time that war could get to cities like where I live, there won\'t be anyone left to lead the worlds armies.
my biggest fear is fallout driftin in from the cities that are hit. we\'re only a hundred miles from saint louis, which means that fallout could potentially drift all the way to us... I really don\'t wanna glow in the dark, after all, I can\'t sleep with the light on.
