ATIOGLXX.DLL HELP!!

hello i am getting a \"Send Error Report\" error after around 1-4 minuts of gameplay, when i click \"View Technical Details\" in the error report, i get \"

AppName: psclient.exe      AppVer: 0.0.0.0     ModName: atioglxx.dll        ModVer: 6.14.10.4145          Offset: 0012df32

But the solution there did not work, i need another way to fix this problem, i tried several versions of catalyst, none wich worked. i emulated psclient.exe in all OS\'s, none worked. I updated the game, didnt work. I installed the CiryMod, didnt work, reinstalled the game, didnt work. Tried several different combinations of resolutions & depth, none worked...  PLEASE HELP!!! i really want to play this game, looks so fun!!

Which version of windows do you use? XP? Kick it off your harddisk and install Win2k :P

i will get win2k in some \"mysterious way\" and install it, then try it, but for now, if it still keeps this up, please ppl, give me your ideas

The only thing left is the OS I think. For how long is your Windows installed now? Windows becomes crazy if it isn\'t  reinstalled every 1-2 years because it doesn\'t seem to be able to handle a big amount of programs installed. Win2k is still the best (stable) Windows around, much better than the eXtended Problems ;)

reinstall your video drivers, the one that ATI provides. OR lose the ATI card and go Nvidia :D

psst, YeTr2, he said that he already reinstalled his ATi drivers a few times ;)

I vote you go linux! Okay, maybe that\'s not feasible at the moment, but while I was using ATi cards, Gentoo handled them beautifully.

As a matter of course in troubleshooting, have other games that use OpenGL been functioning properly? If so, then its just Windows\' pure orneryness and you probably should reinstall to get rid of accumulated crap. Of course, when the OS itself is crap, that may be hard to do! :)

Windows just ain\'t my area of expertise, though my school had awarded me a server-room tour and a flash drive for assisting them with fixing Windows machines :D

You both are correct about Win2k and Linux. i am debating weather i should go with Mandrake, or Win2k.  But i dont have win2k at the moment, due to a \"certain person\" wasnt \"giving\" it to me. anyway, i run it in software mode right now, and since i over clocked my comp just now to full stepping its running pretty good, still a small bit of jaggies and non smoothed textures. But to what Karosh said, i had this OS i am running now winXp for like a week now. i have 2 other winXP OSs on my other HDD, on my other computer. But that 1 sux so i am thinking just for a test, take them and stick them into this computer and try one of them. If thats sucssessful i will just reinstall XP. If not, i will try to get win2k, and if i cant, its mandrake all the way baby!

[edit]:  Nvidia has to be the worst gfx card i have ever seen for gaming. its good for home entertainment. but.. NO! no nvidia for me, i would be breaking the goal in my life to stick with ATI for ever :)

BAH!!, ok, i reinstalled winXP again, this time i used home ed. didnt work (same error), wondows 2000, same thing, windows 98 2nd ed., same thing. BAH i hate windows. i am installing linux right after this post w00t :)

Maybe your PSU is underrated? I mean, there is the hype of having 500+W PSUs... I don\'t know. OTOH, I\'d suspect something like the AGP subsystem or the graphics drivers (or both). I\'ve got an ATI Rage Fury MAXX, this one has, in retrospect, never been working properly. Almost everything that\'s requiring polygons (be it in OpenGL or Direct3D or even SW mode I think) crashes after a few minutes, PS not being an exception. Linux could be a solution, though. Nvidia... I don\'t know, AFAIK they don\'t give out any docs to write Linux drivers for their stuff which IMO is a reason to not buy their products. I don\'t like binary-only stuff, who knows what it does, especially in kernel mode? No, thanks!

run the machine through diagnostics. memory tests, stress tests, etc.

Is it a prefab machine?

i dont know what u mean by pre fab, anyway, i built the machine from parts i bought, if that helps :)

But i did run tests on http://www.pcpitstop.com and i got all perfect Score: 1372

So i know nothing otherwize

Hey Seytra, it freezes in openGL in windows and linux, so i 100% think it is the gfx card, so.. i will ither just wait till they come out with D3D then it will problably work.

The problem is, i was talking to the guys over at crystal space, and they said that PS uses a CS Enigine thats not even supported by CS anymore, all i can say is, GOOD JOB PS!!, but i contacted Keith (programmer for the client) and he should contact me back anytime soon. When he does, i will let you guys know what he has said. I am shure you are all willing to find out the problem :-/

I don\'t run IE exactly to prevent sites from accessing my machine through ActiveX or one of the other M$ security holes.

I haven\'t tried in Linux with this gfx board but d3d also freezes on me. SW mode has solved the problem for one game, though not for PS (but that might be due to CPU performance).

Um, MB isn\'t even supported by PS anymore, either. :]

Enigm.4, I think you misunderstand the situation between PS and CS.  When the current PS Molecular Blue tech demo was released, they took the most current version of CS that worked and released with that.  Since then, the \"development\" version of PS has always kept up with recent changes in CS, but no further release has been made.  The general attitude is \"Ok, anything of debugging/development value that we can get out of MB has been extracted\", so all the effort is going into *current* CS and *current* PS.  Your problems will once more be interesting once the next version of PS is released.

It also is quite likely a hardware/software problem on your end though, but you seem to be aware of that.

You could have tried safe mode. Do you have a \"built by ATI\" or \"graphics by ATI\" card? For the later you should get drivers from the company that made the card. NVidia cards are way better than ATI cards for whatever purpose if you are using Linux because the ATI drivers are slow and buggy. I have had no problems with the ATI drivers(Windows XP or Gentoo Linux with 2.6 kernels) and my Radeon 9800 Pro and Planeshift besides the crashing when I take a screenshot(this is a Linux ATI drivers issue). If you are using Linux and Windows on the same machine you might be better off with a high end NVidia than a high end ATI.
