question bout sky and azure sun
« on: July 30, 2004, 02:22:39 pm »
umm   i was reading the PS history over and over and over and i saw all the maps peaple have drawn about the excavated stalagtite and where the game takes place...

but when you look up at the sky in ps you\'ll notice it is blue?!?!?    if you were in a HUGE cave with a crystal as bright as the sun at the roof of it would you not see the rock ceiling of the cave??

not that i want to see the rock ceiling...

and i see clouds..  how can you have blue sky\'s and clouds in a cave??

i know this is a VAST cave with thousands of miles of space but still

can you explaint his for me?   i even lost sleep over the concept lol

that helps me out with the blue sky..

but rain... is the cave big enuogh to have an atmosphere?

i suppose in theorie the cave could be large enough to have an atmosphere.. but    the clouds would form because of the lake...  but the lake would eventually be empty beacuse it drains the the lower area...   but i suppose if it rained enough the lake would stay full and be able to sustain an atmosphere   omg lol i got my self so confused now

Just my thoughts on the subject, since I\'ve nothing else to do at the current moment. :P

The azure sun has a blue light, since theres moisture in the atmosphere of the cave, the blue light would reflect off of it. Thus the blue sky.

Rain could be moisture seeping through the ground, evaporating from the azure suns warmth, building into clouds, then falling to the ground.

As for how the water gets back into circulation after it seeps through Yliakum and down into the massive lake below, you\'ve got me there.

When it rains, the ceiling of the cave is cooled, and because hot air rises, the hot and cool air clash, and create fog. It apears as clouds, and it certainly rains, but only because water is flowing in through the ceiling. ;)

Or so im guessing...
Im not really sure.
Precious and beutiful, it is happy. The only time when it is not is when it is in a shape of a tear.

Because you have a few of the ingredients needed for an active atmosphere, a sun that provides heat, air that provides a medium through wich heat and water can travel, a variable landscape which gives temperature and air pressure variance, you get wind, thorugh maybe not reguar, north-east-west-south wind, condensation, varying temperature, clouds, rain, e.t.c.

Though hail, snow and extremely cold weather would be more or less out of the question, with rain storms being an exception, because I think being that deeply rooted in a planet\'s crust would mean closer to its core, and thus tropical weather year-round.

wind would probably occour blowing into and out of the stagmilite, or a spiral motion due to the step-ladder geography of the stagmalite.

Rain could occour for a few reasons, evaporation of the water in the great lake, the rivers of the different levels, and perhaps the water that seeps into the stagmilite near the crystal would instantly be vaporized at that proximity.

*edit: fog would be a natural occourance with the conditions I described above which would build up in the lower levels and \"fill\" the stagmalite. This great amount of fog could account for sufficient blockage of the sun\'s rays and perhaps dramatic temperature variences. Making the stagamalite perhaps a reverse mouintain in terms of climate....well, at least seasonally.

Just think of it like a whole nother universe in another. So it\'s like a whole nother \"earth\" if you say in this cave place. And it contains it\'s own gasses and atmosphere and whatnot

i said it once :p and i\'m saying it again when you look at the planeshift pic section and look at the pic of the statue and look at the sky you see black lines now meebie you can say it are clouds but imo if i look  at it i see rock texture cause there are even like hole shaped figures in there could be my imagination
but i think it would be most logical since the crystal emits bleu light the sky is bleu, and we are in a cave
thus i see a bleu-rocky sky thingy... anyway :D i see it :D

Just some scientific thoughts..

Notice our sun (It\'s yellow if you didn\'t notice).
Still, our sky is blue.
Why?

It\'s because of the molecular structure (AFAIK) of the air.
So why can\'t the air in the PS world be the same?

ha, well besides that we\'re makin up this world and any thing we agree is possible is, theres this:
y couldnt it be just like earth? i mean once u have outer space, only stuff like solar flares or asteroids are different.  right? if outer space was just a cave wall, we\'d still have blue sky & goofy newbs.
also, i think places like the astrodome have something like rain if they\'re pack. (yuck, i know)
really anykind of weather could be possible. (see above if outerspace was a cave wall & not outer space)

People will hate me for this answer:
It\'s magic!

But if you want to be scientific, answer me this:
What gives you the idea that the PlaneShift world would have laws of nature even remotely similar to Earth? You are thinking too narrow-mindedly.

I like Red Jelly Beans!
