But if you want to be scientific, answer me this:
What gives you the idea that the PlaneShift world would have laws of nature even remotely similar to Earth? You are thinking too narrow-mindedly.

A: thats the easy way out (the its magic part)
B: everything can be explained scientifically
C: who says anything has to be remotly similar to earths laws?
D: you make up your own laws which fit the question/problem
E: if the Arcane order doesnt think it as magic... i dont think you should be contradicting them.... (its unhealthy) :)

Hmm... apparently we have all turned into Xacha. Let\'s see what a few of the other races have to say!

Ylian: It rains because the all-mighty Talad blesses us with it! We need the rain to sustain our food!

Dermorian: If it didn\'t rain, what in the world would we frolic in, fool?

Nolthrir: *burble* *burble* *glub* *glub*

Hammerwielder: Eh? You say it needs tightening? Oh, lightning! Leave me alone! I\'m busy!

Stonebreaker: Blast that crystal! We\'ve been at it for ages! \'Tis a cruel joke, it is, to give the race with the shortest leap the greatest desire to have it!

Ynnwn: *stomach growls* Could we POSSIBLY talk about this later?

Enkidukai: Gah! I hate rain! Positively RUINS my coat! *scratches flea* So, you think you could get those leaks in the ceiling fixed? I\'d really appreciate it...

Diabolus: Bah! Crystal, schmystal! What has that got to do with us taking over the worl... I mean, er... Well, you see... Nitrogen in the air scatters blue light from the crystal...

Kran: WOOHOO! Crystal?!?! WHERE?? Sounds yummy...

i suppose in theorie the cave could be large enough to have an atmosphere.. but    the clouds would form because of the lake...  but the lake would eventually be empty beacuse it drains the the lower area...   but i suppose if it rained enough the lake would stay full and be able to sustain an atmosphere   omg lol i got my self so confused now

I once had an atmosphere that was contained in an 80 gallon fish tank.  I don\'t see why a thousand cubic kilometer cave can\'t have one, too.
I am made from the dust of the stars,
And the oceans flow in my veins.
Here I hide in the heart of the city,
Like a stranger coming out of the rain.

The laws in Yliakum are almost identical to those of Earth. If they were significantly different, it wouldn\'t have bipeds, plants, same chemicals, etc.

They would either have to be very similar or very different.  It is possible to create an earth-like reality with a different set of \"laws\" (especially with the influence of intelligent demigods) but on the other hand, Earth-like physics with a few constants changed is a total mess.

Edit:
On the other hand, it\'s clear that the laws of Yliakum essentially create an earth-like construct, so often it is helpful to try to think of things in terms of \"ordinary\" physics, and when that breaks down we can bring in \"magic\" - but even magic probably has structure and process.
