« on: August 03, 2004, 04:31:08 pm »
Im planning to teach basic animal drawing in this thread^^,(and im not saying im better than anyone here, i just want to teach the basic musculature and bone estructure of every kind of animal here^^) this is to help the developers for their next relase after CB, this way there will be lots of monster design for them, and we can take some weith of their backs^^, and also create more diversity and originality among the game`s creatures^^, (i know im not even a WTB member, but if you want to learn i can teach the basics, and if it goes well may be some avanced monster design ^^)

 yesterday tutorials:

begginers, basic drawing:
first part-

about this tutorials...hehehe they are a little confucing ^__^, and some of the lines are to light, so if theres any question about this tutorial, just ask, so you dont get lost...

common lessons, small birds: tutorial closed!! (if you want to see it again PM me, or post something here, anyway ill make a compilations of all bird related tutorials later^^) anyway here is the tutorial, but without any instructions...so here is the little intructions i can give you...always draw the skeleton first, and note than the legs of the birds start in their columns..also if anyone have a question about each type of wing or claw just ask.....

heres today tutorials:

- ok, today we will look at the exeptions inside the \"small birds\" category, and later we?ll procede to texture and feathers, and then the small bird tutorial will be over.....
first exeption...the parrot:
http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/1526/parrot.jpg
the parrot uses his beack to crack nuts, and the wings are bigger because(of cource) he is heavier, also he haves a different skeleton, and his neck is long to reach the nuts in the trees......
variations:

please post you progress or comments...^^
next tutorial...medium birds (chikens, turkeys, ducks, swans, etc)

But could you show me how to draw good textures for 3D models? I am not very good @ doing that, & I can?t find a good tutorial about making textures any ware, or is this a strictly concept art drawing thread?

If it is, I am still interested, as long as you don?t have me drawing rotten flesh or blood, I am happy, I don?t like that sort of thing allot & wouldn?t want to be drawing it, but regular things that are fine even if they are strange looking like a monkey-frog-bird (which would be interesting to draw)? :D

Edit: concept for monkey-frog-bird: Very muscular Ape-like, with huge powerful hind legs like a frog so it also sits like a frog, it uses it?s hind legs to launch itself High in the air & only uses it?s wings to direct it falling path on top of it?s enemies. Then does sort of a body-slam. They can?t fly but they can jump up to 20-30ft into the air? :D It\'s meet is very good & the furs are nice, also the wings are used allot as trophies for decorating...
Could we learn how to draw something like that?

Fhinias,

Great Idea, Man!

I\'m all ears!

Personally I try make myself practice 2D and traditional (I wish I could say Academic drawing) at least a couple of times a week, and though I specialize in 3D - ... well ;)  we all know quite well that 2D/3D/4D/etc.. - that means nothing as it has nothing to do with actual Art, in fact.
So any extra art-experience is always great!  I even wouldn\'t mind some rotten flesh and bones - unless it suites the purpose :D

Hello Fhinias :)

I just discovered this thread(sorry I wasn\'t too active for the past week or so) and I\'m pretty interested. I think I\'ll start the tutorials now...

And if I can I\'ll try to post my progress.

-Zy

[EDIT 3: Thx Finn...I\'ll begin the bird tutorials as soon as I can :) Btw, I\'m having problems scanning the perspective drawing, if I manage to do it I\'ll probably include the birds too. Thx again :)]

[EDIT 4: Alrighty, if I understand it correctly, the first step is so draw basic shapes, and then draw sort of a rough idea of the drawing. The second step is to define important lines, flush out the next ovious details. The last step deals with shading and the smallest details. If this was not what you were trying to do, please let me know because I already finished 3/4 of the lessons in this method :O]

[EDIT 5: Hmmm...I can\'t get my shading as smooth as yours, how can I do it like that? And another thing, I finished everything except for the complete birds. There\'s so many lines  8o so is it possible if you can break down each bird? Shape by Shape?]

[EDIT 6: Yeah, but HOW do you shade? Just reallly REEEEALLLLY slowly line next to line, or is there another way? And as for Shape by Shape I mean....for example...we\'re drawing a spoon. In the instructions, you would first draw an oval ONLY. In the second step, you would then include the oval AND the long, simple rectangular shape. And so on from larger shapes to the smallest ones :) Like for the birds. For #1, draw a circle for head only. Then #2, draw the outline of the middle body for bird WITH the circle. THen #3 draw the basic shapes of the feet WITH the circle WITH the body. Then #4 draw the basic shape of the wing bones. And so on. Hope you get my point :)]
