Roleplaying a ranger who is a mercenary is not the type of life I want lol, but it is the kind of character I like. Anyway, I\'m a \"powerleveler\" (not exactly... not that snob boring n00bish type, more the one that plays a game a lot when he likes it) and I\'ll try to have important skills at high parameters, but not trying to max everything there is out there =P
I like to mine, I like to craft, I like to heal, I like magic, I like bows and I like icecream. With chocolate. That doesn\'t mean that I will max all these skills, specially the one of the icecream. I\'ll use them as I need and Increase as I say they are needed.

For the guy who said \"RP is sad\", you are aware that acting is the same as role playing right? the main difference is that roleplay involves playing. You must cry with comedies... Better not watch any dramas heh? Laterz.

If you don\'t want to role play, or you think its \"sad\" cause you\'ve :

1) never tried it

2) Don\'t have the brain capacity to understand what it is/means

3) Suck at it because you\'re obviously an idiot

4) Are one of the masses of \"trigger reflex\" players out there who think a \"great game\" accounts for Counterstrike, Evercrap, Pokemon, Anygame with blood and guns or Diablo.

5) Or, you just stubbornly refuse to acknowlage the words Role Playing Game at the end of MMORPG.

Then fine, don\'t. No one is forcing you, but don\'t expect to be liked by many people (except geniouses like youself) or to have much fun out of the game. My suggestion, go play another game, possibly some crappy Action RPG, or some Korean MMO....you\'ll fit right in.

Act your age, boutus. This post was very childish so I decided to make an example of you instead of delete it outright. Any more blatant foul-mouthed flaming and you\'ll be out of here permanently.

I like powerlevelling every once in a while, but it inevitably gets boring & than break out the RP! or what?s more enjoyable it to powerlevel & RP with friends @ the same time...
(not sure if that\'s considered powerlevelling?)

Anyway it is fun to just make your skills increase rapidly, but it does get boring fast... 8)

Adeli, noone is stupid simply because they\'re American. If you think this, then you definitely wont like some of the Dev team, and then you can just bugger off because they wont like you either. It\'s not racism, it\'s prejudies and we don\'t want that here as well as foulmouthed language and other things that involve \"You\'re bad but I can\'t give a reason for it\" things. You\'re not god, and you\'re not mod. You don\'t make the rules and when you try to make the rules, your post gets deleted. End of story.

Now, powerleveling will not be encouraged in any way during your stay in the PS world. Yes, it will be possible to powerlevel your stats to ub3r l33t, but you\'ll still just be some random person who has no influence what-so-ever. As Harwen stated, PS will not be to your liking if your only intentions are to be l33t d00d with max stats. That\'s what the asian MMOGs are for. Most of the gameplay will come from quests and talking to NPCs, which some of you might have noticed, and that is one of the things that will not be changed at all. There will be monsters to slay, there will be errands to run but if you can\'t talk to an NPC, and do it as if it was a real person, you\'ll suck big time. :)

While I\'m at it, I can just add a few facts about CB. 1) Lots of new NPCs, and lots of new dialogues (~10,000 new things to say), and that\'s with the first CB release. 2) New updater, and new ways of updating, thus more frequent updates. Probably daily or every other day. 3) New landscape generator. If there is some lack of hunting areas (not likely, but it could happen), it is not very difficult to just slap a 50 square miles into the game, or something like that. I\'m not much into how those technical things such as that work, I just know it does work. 4) There will be plenty of GMs to manage things ingame. Initially (as far as what I know) it will be Developer GMs, and later on they will be replaced by player GMs as the advice system is properly integrated with the players, and people know how to use it to ask for help. 5) NPCs will be smarter, and it will be easier to make them recognize even more words, however things like \"plz gimme qwest\" probably wont be understood, so those of you who say \"sry I\'m french/russian/spanish (or whatever)\", you\'d better start learning proper english if you plan on sticking around for good. It\'s not a demand, it\'s just a good advice. :)

So play nice all of you, and more flaming equals more deleted posts, and noone wants to have a deleted post count which is higher than the actual post count, right? And no throwing with sand in the sandbox. Have a nice day.

Sorry Gronomist, but where in this topic did he say that? Really, I  mean, I can\'t find it. Perhaps this part of the reply was to another post?
(I don\'t mean so sound rude, just confused).
Anyway, it is possible to powerlevel and roleplay, but many powerlevelers don\'t roleplay and that I think is way many people are against it. I myself powerlevel and roleplay, I see nothing wrong with it. Now, trying to max out everything is just insane O.o Thinking of it, one who tries to achieve a great skill of something may be a powerleveler just as much as one who tries to max everything. Anyway, fun is what matters the most, and with some good RP things are always more fun =D

When you\'re confused, it\'s often a very good idea to re-read the post that confused you. :)

Pay attention to the last two lines, as they quite explain why you can\'t find the post around here. I deleted it, simply because it was easier than modifying the flaming out of his post and leaving it with a single dot, and then deleting it for being spam. But anyway, yes it is possible to powerplay and roleplay, all depends on how you define both words. Roleplaying can be both standing on a street corner, talking IC with your friends, and it can be doing the NPC quests and talking IC with them. Then there\'s the mix of people who randomly add an IC note, and so on. Thousands of ways to do it, and none is more wrong than the other, simply because people lack the ability to specify what kind of roleplaying they want. :)

The same thing goes for powerplaying really. I can easily think of multiple scenarios including diffrent kinds of powerplaying. One is the drone-type lvlguy who kills monsters, loots monsters, moves on to the next monster, and repeats that for 8+ hours per day. Like I said in my previous post, such kind of playing style wont get you too far. You need to mix both training with participation. Then there is the powerplayer who goes for ingame power by being the biggest and the baddest, killing anything that dares offer a duel or dares enter a free-PvP zone. And last, but not least, there is the powerplaying roleplayer who gets power through words, and has an extreme way of making their sentences hurt or help, but who are either weak or simply middle class on the battle field, and who try hard, but can\'t really catch up with the best of the drone-lvlers. All three above are powerplayers, they\'re just all seen from a diffrent perspective, yet eventually they all end up in a bowl labelled \"n00b\" or \"omgwoahl33td00d\". PS will have a good amount of each, yet they wont prosper easily, and they\'ll have to actually start using their brains to get ahead of others, which might be a fun change, compared to asian powerlvl MMOGs, which people so frequently call MMORPGs. :)

Anywho, enough yibber yabbing for now... I think I got a little off topic somewhere... Oh well. It happens, even to the best. ;)

Grono, thanks for clearing things up, because I re-read the whole topic about three times and found nothing about that so I was kinda like...\"Huh?\".
Yeah, like Grono said, there are lots of tipes of roles to play =D

Yeah, same here ForteX.

What is this, rant month Grono?   :baby:

Anyways, I\'m sure I could think up reasons to argue every side...as so nothing in this area will come from other\'s people\'s opinions but from the developers opinions on this subject, and as has been shown time and time again, it won\'t be changed by a post.

And, as has been shown many times as well here, is that very few things about Planeshift is definite, for all anyone knows it may very well become a powerleveling MMOG, more then likely not...but anything can change.  Yeah, I know that is stupid, I just thought I\'d waste your time.

Thank you.

thankyou for that insight kiern, you\'ve pretty much told us all that we\'ve wasted our time, which sadly is rather true isn\'t it? haha.

I think Gronomist sumed it up quite nicely.
I really dont think we need to worry about the high level stuff cause in my opinion if anyone gets up to the max level possible in CB before the devs have had a chance to add more content they are obviously a power gamer and diserve to get bored and leave.
I\'m pretty sure that when CB comes out there will be enough content to keep everyone happy for several months.

That\'s a coldblooded fact. :)

But alright, I dare you to find a MMOG, developed by an asian company that isn\'t about getting the highest level and the highest skills. But I\'m warning you already. If there is such a thing, it wont exactly be easy to find, simply because the asian culture is based around the idea of practicing what you want to be good at, day after day after day, in a drone-like fashion, so of course their games reflect this style of play. However, should you find a real MMORPG, that is asian, you had better tell me where it is, or else...! :)

Maybe it\'s a little off-topic, but will the MB quests stay in CB?
