Monsters that Aggro+massive character overhaul
« on: August 08, 2004, 11:03:08 am »
These ideas are not original, dont gimme any credit. My first idea is from Project Entropia. some different species do not like each other, just becuase they are prey or foe, or they are on certain territory, ECT. My second idea was from FFXI:improving the charactor details. Such as in Final fantasy eleven, most armor looks different, or at least has a different color to it(Which is pretty appealing to us, OOOH SHINY^^ or OOH ITS REALLY SHINY)so different colors and and the detail put into would look really nice. the wider the variety of armor, or weapons, and how you can design your character would be very appealing for special people such as myself, that being said, i am going to go jay walk! LATER :)
EDIT: MONSTERS THAT AGGRO EACH OTHER, SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION
EDIT:ALSO AGGRO IS NOT A DOUBLE-POST

[useless fact] Did you know that the term \"jaywalking\" was concieved from the old slang word \"jay\" meaning \"an idiot\"? :) [/useless fact]

Anyways, I like the sounds of this. Herds of herbivorous creatures in the wild, and predators that track them, stalking, hunting. This is also seen in another MMORPG, Saga of Ryzom, and I must say it adds TONNES to the gaming enviroment in terms of pure immersion in the world.

Sounds great, but I think it should be random and carefully managed, codewise anyways, I\'d hate to be chased by a cave minotaur knowing he has unlimited range cause he\'s in aggro mode...

BTW, PE is a money-making scam. :D

Well, you could spawn monsters in a spacific position, like little grids, it would be less confusing than just winging it and spawn em confusingly, heh heh, you know? So, my point would be making \"Positions\". Positions would help you know where to go,where to find quest, where certain monsters spawn ^^, thad be good. Well, im off to chase a squirrel

Pehaps if there is a capture animal spell then you could capture several different animals and sell them to an NPC at the arena, then they would have a tornament between the animals in your honour, and other players could watch them
Under construction

It is through suggestions and critisisms that we improve our ideas

It would be so funny to see a cave monster running at you and you are sitting there helplessly trapped in a corner about to wet your pants and then a trepor takes out the monster from the side. Meanwhile you are sitting there laughing as the trepor lunges at you..... :D
This is a pretty good idea

Hmm, I was about to post an entire new thread about animals going aggro based on vengence, how many monsters of that breed killed, e.t.c

You kill 40+ forest wolves and you\'re now hunted by them whenever you enter their particular \"territory\", or are relentlessly chased by them and their more powerfull bretheren when in combat with them. A little unreasonable, as I wouldn\'t ever want to kill more than 10 of the same animal over and over, monotony in MMORPG\'s are a major turn off for moi.

Again, you kill a bunch of lizardmen lets say, now this is a bit more exciting! Not only are you marked as an enemy by the lizard men, you suffer trading penalties with lizard merchants, you are bounty to their \"Lizararman Mercenaries\" , and are a favored target in the city raids, or caravan raids.

Same against a tribe of sorcerers, or any other sentient being.

Animals, would be afraid of you, and wouldn\'t befriend you much after a couple massacering of their kind. Though, killing in their presence might make them aggro if they were not otherwise.

This goes with my preference of not killing animals unless they are for game like pelts or meat. But of course, barbarian-like tribes of lizard men are xp cows!

For some reason the first thing I thought of when I read this was \'Jurrasic Park\'...meh, useless fact right?

But I also like this idea. It would add a whole new dimension (sp?) in summoning monsters.

I like the animals preying on animals thing.. I HATE the idea that spawning should be localised. I think that should be a definite NO. Think, you\'ll have 100+ people waiting in location A to fight uber fearsome monster B that is about to respawn in X minutes, and they\'ll all be competing for the kill.

OT: The upcoming D&D MMORPG has made it imposible for people to be waiting at particular places for the monsters, spawning is completely randomised... I think this is a good idea.

[edit] I don\'t really like the idea of territories.. there should be no exact locations for each animal... animals are often nomadic or migratory... seldom stay in one place for long. Perhaps some creatures may prefer to be lower in the cave, but they should be free to roam.
