stuck, and not just the newb style
« on: August 11, 2004, 07:55:22 pm »
yeah, im stuck in a tree, i\'ve ried /spawn the chatbox doesnt let me type, i have a mod with a spawn button, that doesn\'t respond either, i\'ve reinstalled the game entirely, and run the updater, i can\'t turn, change camera, greet or chat, the game is just frozen with me in a tree looking at the library, as much advice as you can give, it probably won\'t work, i need a mod or dev to get on the server and code in to move me back to spawn.

thanks for the help

There\'s currently no admins available, but when one shows up I\'ll pass them the message and see if they can help. :)

This happens a lot lately, ask Dvornik or ... the other guy who\'s name I just forgot. Anyway, the solution is patience and patience and patience again. *g*
Give it a couple of hours with the mouse over the spawn-button wait until it highlights, press and leave the mouse there for another few hours, and you\'re good :D
Or you are lucky and a dev jumps by easing your pain (like they did for me when that happened about 4 months ago, see also here)

Wrong.

I certainly know the feeling...I jumped up in a tree over close to the library too about two weeks ago and got stuck...luckily for me, /spawn finally worked, after about five attempts clicking on and off the chat window!
It sounds like you weren\'t not so lucky this time.  My character\'s not a cat, so let\'s just say that is the last time I jump into a tree!  Sorry I can\'t help you other than with some sympathy...

its okay now WOOHOO!! im free from tree!

i went round my friends house (Vanderbal) and we installed it on his dad\'s hi tech duber majiget machine (without mods) and i was able to spawn it :D,

so basically if anyone gets stuck lags up and can\'t spawn, get someone with uber gaming pc to log on as you and spawn yer, it is theo nly way other then waitin ages for admins

Nah, it\'s not the only way, because you just need to
- click the chat window
- type in /spawn and hit enter
- let it sit, check back every 30 mins or so.

No matter how slow the system is, at some point processing will reach the input and the spawn command you typed in hours ago will get executed. This is because unless you typed in lots of crap before that fills the buffers, your typing in the chat window will not be lost. It just doesn\'t show up or execute until the CPU gets around to processing it. With this method, you don\'t even need to check back regularly like in the button method. Do it in the evening, turn off the monitor and wake up to a most likely respawned char the next morning.
