Yes, Crystal Space is the underlying engine that PlaneShift is built on.  However, Crystal Space also makes use of various sub systems as well. Such as using the seperate cal3d project to do skeleton models.  That is one of the nice things with Crystal Space is the ability to write your own plugins to interface into the engine to make different parts do different things.

Ya sorry about that i was kinda busy when i posted this.

Now im also wondering how you guys aquired to team to build this game.  I am intrested in building an MMORPG of my own.  Now id like to make the point that i am not a total newb.  I know its going to be very hard take some time, a good team, and possibly/probally some money.

Now i have 8 years of webmaster experince and some 3d modeling(still learning)  I dont have any programming.  Do you think i would be able to assemble a team with a programer and make a succesfull game without actually knowing alot of background on programing myslef.

I don\'t think you will have much luck getting a team together without having any programming experience.  I only joined this project because they had a working demo that looked cool and felt I could contribute.   The idea is that on these types of projects you have to be able to do *everything* until you can form your team.  This is where we are lucky.  Talad can do 3d modelling, level design, as well as programming and mangement.  So when I tell him something about how this would be very hard to do programming wise he understands and accepts it ( sometimes :) ).  These types of projects are very \'work\' oriented and you have to prove yourself before people will respect you.  If you are the leader and people think you don\'t know what\'s going on then you will loose respect and confidence in the team will go down.

I\'m just wondering, what kind of MMORPG would you like to create?

I mean, there isn\'t really something saying against you to join the PS team

It often comes down to what you want to acheive - if what you want is the experience of trying to create your own game, regardless of whether it gets beyond the planning stage, then you\'ll probably enjoy designing a MMORPG, possibly implementing a few concepts, and then moving on to other things.  If what you want is to participate in the creation of a game that actually gets used by people, you\'ll most likely have to sacrifice the desire for leadership and participate in an existing project.
If you don\'t have experience or a demo, the best way to get a team together is by people who you know (and have a positive relationship with) since few people are willing to join up in a team unless they feel that it is operating at \"their level\".

EDIT:
Also, note that the \"Planeshift\" project itself involves two parts - an open-source game engine (the planeshift engine) and the game content, which is offered free of charge (but can\'t be used for your own projects).  If you don\'t have programming experience, you could always try making content for your own game based on the planeshift game.  Just to re-iterate though, you *cannot* use their art, maps, sounds, or game rules.
