Just don\'t go too crazy on the filesize.

Yours is allready close to 500kB, which is a bit too much for a sig.
Especially for people with a 56k connection.

Just think what would happen if everyone would have a sig over 500kB in size.

Just giving a heads up to keep that into consideration.

they get big pretty fast.

it took a fair bit of machining to get the animated avatar that i use here forums.boxtorrents.com down just under the 100 k limit. when i get some time i\'m going to try and bring it down. i think the software i\'m using isn\'t setting transparency or something. but then it is 21 secs, so perhaps i shouldn\'t complain too loudly.

the bits that i do remember are:

- optimize/reduce the pallete size, you don\'t need to haul around a 16 bit pallete when you have 58 colours in the whole animation

-use transparency, don\'t resend bits of the image that doesn\'t change.

but, beyond that simple stuff there isn\'t much that i can suggest
may laanx frighten the shadow from my path.

the shadow will frighten laanx from my path.

You can also cut down on size by... cutting down on size. :) What I mean is, you can reduce the kb by reducing the px.

...Still don\'t follow? Bah...

wow, he said something nice.   Thats a good start depth. anyways i will use transparency, but i dont think cutting down on size is a good idea, i like the siz emine is. lol

if dialup users are on, they shud set the option to \"dont show signatures, and avatars.\"

Or you should use a sig that doesn\'t force people to change their settings. :) It\'s just common curtesy.

No, it\'s not insanely large, but would probably take several minutes for someone on a 56k connection to actually view. During that time, their browser might be waiting to load the rest of the page, and subsequently it can\'t because it\'s downloading a picture. :P

500kb doesn\'t seem that much on it\'s own, but just imagine how slow the forums would be if everyone had one...

You don\'t have to take it down, just make an effort to compress the kb size. I\'d offer to do it for you, but my trial version gif-animator has run out...
