As far as I know, we still need it.   :)

To help get you started, here are a few things I found out when I tried:

The source code repo has moved to github.  Here it is: https://github.com/baoboa/planeshift ; the compiling guide can be found in the docs folder as compiling.html

Also, the link to the Cal3D library is out of date.  Here's an updated one to their new Github repo: https://github.com/mp3butcher/Cal3D

Best of luck, Chaon!

Gotcha, thank you Talad.  I tried, but got a bit stuck compiling the dependencies.  I'll try to keep at it, but if anyone else wants to take a crack at it too, they're more than welcome!

Hi there!

I have very basic programming knowledge a newer Mac.  I'm interested in your call to action.

To ensure that I understand what is needed clearly, are you looking for someone to compile the source code from https://sourceforge.net/projects/planeshift/ and then provide the psclient file that is made from there, or do you have an XCode project that you'd like us to load and try to compile?

Thank you, and I hope that I will be able to be of some help ^.^

Later, it would finally happen.  By chance, Celroc would meet with Weeds, the one that Celrin had been beckoning him to see almost non-stop.  With little hesitation, even with the warnings of Sacho and Anysu to not see her, Celroc lets Weeds inside his mind...

Celrin begs Weeds to give him the power to take over Celroc.  He promises to use that power for good, self-less, charitable acts, even if it is at Celroc's expense.  Much to the memory's surprise, though, Weeds does not grant him anything this time.  Instead, she makes a deal with the two:  Whoever can give her the best answer as to why he should be in charge of Celroc's body will get it.  She then exits and gives them a couple days to prepare their answers....

Weeds returns.  Celroc answers with "If I change who I am, I won't be the same menki that married Prreta.  I won't be me."  Celrin answers the same as earlier, claiming that he wants to take control so that he can do self-less actions instead of "selfish" ones like Celroc does.

Weeds contemplates the answers shortly, and then does something unexpected.  Using Azure, she is able to speak privately with Celroc and with Celrin, without either of them knowing what she's said to the other.  She tells Celroc to get his affairs in order, implying that she will give Celrin power;  she then tells Celrin that she is going to give Celroc control.

What only Weeds knows is that this is the true test.  She watches the two of them in private now to see what they will do, both of them thinking that they will be reduced to only a memory in a few days.  The actions of the two who think they are on their proverbial deathbed will be what really decides who is fit to rule Celroc-- atleast, by Weeds' logic.

Celroc seeks out the aid of Ziljhi, a healer well respected by the menki.  Ziljhi would enter his mind and take a look to see what seems to be affecting him.  What he finds is the memory of Celrin, Celroc's older brother, apparently tormenting the menki.  More accurately, Celroc had believed that he had mistreated his wife greatly (whether he actually did so or not) and was being haunted by the thought of it.  Ziljhi offered him wise advice, of which Celroc tried to accept, but still could not force the feeling that his older brother would be disappointed in him for what (he thinks that) he did.

After meeting with Ziljhi to take a look at him mentally, Celroc meets with Sacho and Anysu at the Broken Door tavern, and expresses concerns about strange feelings that he's been having.  The healing duo look him over and all three decide to enter his mind with Azure magics...

Inside, the first things they see shouldn't really surprise them.  Celroc grew up as a farmer, so the world in his mind is of course a sprawling area of farmland with ranch houses off in the distance.  Crops seem to be growing, the sun is out, the weather is good... at first glance, everything would seem alright.

On second glance, one would see the mental apparitions of both Celroc himself and another menki, one looking like his older brother Celrin.  Both menkis look injured somehow in this one, and when questioned about it, answered that "We get along best by almost killing each other."  As odd is it might seem, at the very least the two menkis are at least peaceful looking for a change.

Not much seems to have changed otherwise with the manifestation of Celrin's memory in this world from when Ziljhi looked him over.  This time, though, he pleads with Sacho and Anysu to bring Weeds to him-- Weeds, who once gave Celrin her own energy so that he could grow stronger in Celroc's mind.  It seems he thinks he can take over if he can just get a little stronger....

He is met with the exact opposite response.  Celrin is lifted from the ground by his shirt from a fang-baring Sacho, who threatens to eraticate the memory from Celroc's mind.  Celroc and Celrin both plead that Sacho does not do so, as no one is sure what that would do to Celroc's mind.  Sacho does not follow through with the threat, and does let the image of Celrin out of his grip, on the condition that Celrin return to what he used to be: a memory and inspiration in the back of Celroc's mind.

Celrin does agree, but then points to a patch of tilled ground, saying that what is buried there is what brought him to the foreground.  And whatever it is, he doesn't think Celroc is ready to face it.  Represssed memories, maybe?

At that point, everyone in the group agreed that it was time for a rest.  They finally exit Celroc's mindspace and offer him their support, to which the menki very thankfully accepts.

Oh wow, I'm sorry, I did not get a notification on your reply!  My bad.

In-game characters, please.  :-)  This is part of an in-game RP that's slowly been reviving, and I do apologize that I've been so slow in replying.  A lot has been going on IRL and my mind has other things grabbing for it.   :-[

I would be alright with RPing it here in the forums; however, I would prefer in-game if possible to avoid story skew (i.e. something we do on the forums conflicts with in-game events or vice versa).

One moment while I update my post with the latest happenings and we can run from there.

Brought to current as of 10/15/2016.  Thoss, if you want to jump in, we can RP it here on the forums or send me a PM and we'll see if we can meet in game :-)

It seemed like a pretty regular evening for Celroc as he sends a groffel to the one he would call sister, Anysu.  The little winged critter returns with a note letting him know that herself, Sacho, and Elady are at the Stonehead.  “Hmm,” the menki would think to himself.  “Stonehead… that doesn't sound like a bad idea.  I wouldn't mind seeing everyone for a while.”
The menki departs toward the pterosaur master.  On the outside he fully looks to be heading out to enjoy a peaceful evening with his friends.  But internally, something else, more desperate, is on his mind.  “I've been feeling odd lately.  Something's not right.  Maybe I should talk to Sacho or Anysu or… or… no, no, it's probably just stress.  Yes.  A lot going on with my newborn cubs, new house and all the events in Hydlaa.” A quick shake of his head to clear it and he hands the tria over to the pteromaster for a quick flight to Gugrontid.
The menki arrives and walks up the long pathway to the Stonehead; somehow, the miniature journey comforts him.  Whatever seemed to be worrying him fades into the background and he smiles as he sees some familiar faces sharing stories of the past in the tavern.  It's not long before his face joins the crowd and a pair of attentive ears listen to the stories.
A good time comes and goes for the menki, listening and chatting with his friends until he is reminded of the time.  Deciding it be best that he heads back home to check in on Prreta and their cubs, he bids farewell to everyone and heads out.  One uneventful ptero trip later, he walks through the plaza and up the steps leading towards Kada-El's (his house being at the end of those steps).
However, reaching the last few steps, he slows his pace considerably, even stopping in his tracks eventually.  He shudders once and seems to become distressed.  He places his paws to his head and grunts with a valiant effort to try and battle off whatever seems to be inside of him.  “I … I thought we got… rid of you…!”  he says to… something?  There seems to be nothing around him.
Inside his mind, the menki can sense the presence that seems to be assaulting him.  Without hearing it or seeing it, his mind can perceive the following message from it.  “You're not rid of me.  We're not done yet.  We still have work to do.”
A strong urge within the menki beseeches him to seek out the one responsible for awakening this inner turmoil.  But not now.  Wait.  Bide time.  He tries to calm himself down, and heads to Kada El's for a couple drinks to calm himself.  Once able to pass for reasonably calm would he head home….

[Possible seed for a new RP.  Feedback welcome!  Everything past paragraph three was written in and assumed to have happened ICly.  If you want your character to have seen/heard him either in the tavern or on the way to his house, that's fine by me.  He was in public places, after all.  ;-) ]

One free service that I use is Google Drive https://drive.google.com/.  You can upload your image here, then right click on the image on your browser and choose "Get Sharable Link."  Then copy and paste that link in between the img tags here and it should load it into the post.

Hello!

I use the closed-source Nvidia drivers mainly for gaming, and they generally have worked well for me.  Nvidia officially supports Linux and releases native drivers for it, while IIRC, Radeon drivers are community-based.  I don't know much about Intel based cards, but I have heard people mention some issues playing PS with them.  I have a Intel card in my Mac and it seems to play without major issues, so your mileage may vary  ;).

Now, as a warning, my view is a little closed-minded:  I have owned mostly Nvidia cards and have had very few Radeon ones.  So there may be advantages that I am overlooking in those cards.  But overall, I've been happy with my Nvidia cards + closed-source driver.

Gonger, you are right.  I'm sorry about that.  I should have posted a reminder, and asked if the GMs could put it on the calendar.  I'm still learning, you could say ;)

As requested, logs for the trial may be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B215viVDzUDATlAxaFBxeTlYZ2s/view?usp=sharing

Hi, there,
I know this is an old topic, but I just wanted to say that I am currently still having this problem, and also I tried to download via uTorrent, but that doesn't seem to work, either. It just tells me the website may have timed out or my internet connection has failed (which it hasn't).
Sorry for poking the sleeping bear, but I'd really like to try out this game. :)

Hello!

It looks like some of the mirrors may have gone down for some reason.   At the time of writing, it looks like the osmmo.org anf Frubar links are up now.

Hope this helps :-)  Let us know if those links don't seem to work either.

Attend the event, find out yourself! Mau! Didi mau!

Sure I will try to attend. But you know, normally when there is a trial there is also a reason for the trial, and that is what my post was about.

Hiya Gonger, sure, I can give a quick summary:

Nabilia Atamar (or Advana, as some may know her last name prior to marriage) is accused of slandering Celroc Charmamaul, the common death of Prreta Charmamaul, and the attempted common death of Ziljhi (sorry, don't know his last name), among other charges.  Witnesses will gather to give testimony and there will be a jury to decide the judgement (as I understand it).

And Volki, yes, it will be a legitimate, public trial.  I assume it will be in the law house, although it is up to the GMs involved to determine the location that makes the most sense.

Everyone is welcome to attend the trial.  Even if you just want to show up and see what it's about :-D

Thanks!

Celroc

*Edit:  It looks like we may have to reschedule it.  The time posted earlier may not work well for some of the people involved.  Sorry for the inconvenience everyone, and I will update the post as soon as I have the new time!*

Hi all, I haven't been able to catch some of the people who wished to be involved in this event in-game.  So, I thought I'd post the details here:

We're hoping to have the trial on 3/13/2015 @ 7:30 PM PST.  I am sorry for the short notice.

Thanks everyone,

Fade to Black.... Did we get him?

Celroc's vantage point of Allena's exorcism:

Celroc arrived at the guildhouse, meeting Prreta, Evirea, Sacho and Anysu out front.  Knowing what was about to come just moments from now, naturally, he was nervous, but soothed as his wife runs up and embraces him.  This sweet moment they share finally must come to an end as the two walk through the guild doors and begin preparations for their next task: an exorcism.

After a final refresher on who does what, and where, Celroc takes his place with the other Crystal Way mages.  Suddenly, his stomach sinks; he realizes that it's going to be not only himself, but many people that he cares about, putting themselves on the line to kill this demon.  Thoughts began to race through his head. “What if they die?  What if something happens to Prreta?  What if my friends are killed before my very eyes?”

Of course, his composure began to change.  His friends could see that he was worried.  The group around him offered words of comfort that did help him a bit.  Even an Azure spell to help calm his nerves that seemed to work well.  But after all, how calm can you be knowing a demon will be staring you down face to face just minutes from now?

Celroc took a few deep breaths.  He used this time to remind himself why he was doing this.  His older brother's famous words ran through his head one more time.  “Friend in need....”  He knew Allena needed her friends help now.  Celroc could not live with himself if he abandoned her in his time of need.  His next thought turned to Prreta.  He remembered how much Allena was able to help Prreta, just by being there to talk or share similar experiences.  He remembered that they were “sisters,” even if not by blood, but by how fate has dealt them both a similar hand of proverbial cards.  He knew that Prreta needed Allena, perhaps as much as Allena needed Prreta now....

Now encouraged, and calmed thanks to his friends, he waits.  Finally, the time comes.  Jiggs begins a ceremony that will pull the demon to a new host.  A living gobble that was captured and restrained.  Across the room from him was Allena, herself and the entire team of Azure mages around her slowly being surrounded now by a dark aura.  Celroc could feel it.  It was not just dark in color, but in the other more symbolic senses as well.  It had the sensation of fear, loneliness, hatred; as if it was the embodiment of evil manifesting in front of him.  For as much as Celroc knows about it, it might as well be such a manifestation.

The aura is pulled closer and closer to the Crystal mage group, of which Celroc is part of.  With wide eyes, he can see it coming.  The group prepares itself, everyone getting ready for what was coming ahead.  Celroc began to gather his Crystal energy, being ready to use it at a moment's notice; about now, he begins to realize just how much of a novice he is in Crystal Way.  Funny the things you'll notice when you're about to play games with death, isn't it?

When you're staring down such a monstrosity face to face, your perception of time and your surroundings can be skewed.  Allena let out the most horrible scream as the demon left her body and began floating toward the group, but the scream would not seem to reach Celroc's ears for several seconds later.  He watches, only able to wait, as the darkness moves ever closer... closer.... and finally, he hears the shout from behind him “Baazel!”

The aura crackles with energy, almost like its own self-contained thunderstorm.  Upon being called, it is pulled into the body of the gobble.  Jiggs gave the signal, and it was now go-time for the group.  Time to flood the gobble-- or more precisely, the demon inside the gobble-- with Crystal Way energy and kill it once and for all.  Celroc struggles to keep a regimen going of Energy Arrows and Relaxing Sleep to sustain his attacks.  Every few arrows, he takes a short pause to restore mana, and continues.

For most of the other Crystal Way mages there, Celroc's regimen would probably be simple.  Child's play, even.  But for Celroc, the novice that he was, this was all that he could do to help.  Arrow after arrow after arrow was fired, slowly taxing Celroc's energy.

His determination won't let him stop.  For anything.  He is decidedly going to cast until the demon is dead, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.  During the battle, a bolt of the eclectric-like energy strikes Celroc from behind and he falls forward; yet does not even take the time to pick himself up.  Laying forward on his chest, he continues to cast desperately.

And, it looks like the team effort is working.  Celroc is only a small part of it, while still weakening the demon with every blow.  The demon does try to make him and everyone around him lose heart by screaming that it is immortal, will never die, and so on.  “Immortal?”  Celroc hears this word and his thoughts begin to race.  “Is it truly immortal?  Can we not kill it?  Is all of this for nothing?”  He then shakes his head and continues just as before, now becoming very fatigued.

Very fatigued indeed... everything is starting to go dark for the poor menki.  And that is meant in a literal sense, he is beginning to pass out from the effort of it all.  As the group continues its efforts, the demon is barraged with Crystal and beheaded by Chays with a poisoned axe.  Yet... somewhere after this time, Celroc is no longer aware of that.  In fact, he is losing awareness of his surroundings altogether  “I have to... keep casting!” runs through his mind.  “I can't stop...!  Not until we are DONE!”

The demon slithers out of the gobble, and slips away, making a run for it.  It is gone.  Celroc's job should be done now.  But he doesn't even know it.  He continues to hit the very dead gobble with arrow after arrow, his aim getting sloppier.  In his mind, the last things to run through before he passes out completely are “Anysu...?  Sacho?  Kaerli?  Where are you? I can't see you! Please... don't.... be.... hurt....” despite the fact that they are all within a couple meters of him and basically alright. A final image of Prreta and then Allena, a reminder of why he is doing this, comes and goes before he is out.  Out cold.

There lies the menki, completely unconscious.  He doesn't even respond to the noises around him or when examined by Anysu and Kaerli.  It's not until Anysu uses a Rinse and Invigoration spell that he awakens.  Still weak from it all, he is helped to his feet and gets the news that it was a success.  The demon has left.

Celroc now wobbles as he walks across the room, up the stairs, and finally to Prreta, whom he holds tightly not only for his own comfort, but to comfort her as well.  There the exhausted menki woud stand and idly listen to the chat nearby.  There really wasn't much more anything he could do, and being so tired, most of it went in one ear and out the other.  To be frank, the menki just needs some time to rest his mind after such an ordeal, and almost everything after this point seemed to go by quickly, almost a blur, as Celroc stands there enjoying the victory.  Not only his victory, but that of everyone involved.  “We did it,” he smiles to himself.  “The demon is finally gone.”

[Remember, this is from Celroc's point of view.  The demon may not actually be gone, and some events may be different from described.]
