General Discussion / Thoughts on train armour/weapons.
« on: April 23, 2008, 01:06:57 am »
Been trying to figure out why you need to train armour?
If no training at all, 1 hit from a rogue will kill you, yet if you have say 10, at best it will scratch you. Now do not know how you think about this, but armour is same, for both yet does not protect same, now why is this?
We have repair armour, so I think this should determine how well you are defended.

Now lets think about repair weapons. Do not know about you but in real life I would use a wet stone to sharpen my kitchen knifes or garden tools. I have had one for years, it still will out live me, so why do we have to by over and over repair kits?

Guides and Tutorials / Janners revised beginners tips.
« on: February 13, 2008, 02:18:08 pm »
To Start with welcome to my little tips page.

 1. If you have mining skill you will need a pick[ buy from Harnquist ] ( he trains mining as well ) in Hydlaa or Toda in Ojaveda. ( 100 tria = money )
Then you need to find where to dig; for Coal the Magic shop is a good place to look, to dig type /dig coal.

2.To equip something in your inventory  [I on keyboard]  click it drag it to place it goes and click to place it there, OR just drop it on your picture, it will go to right place.

3a. To fight, right click on target then click crossed swords from icons that pop up.
3b. To fight normal click on target then go to info box [ the small one with time in it and coloured bars ] and click third icon from left to normal attack. ( putting your pointer on icons will tell you what they do. )

4a. To Loot right click target after killing click the moneybag icon. ( double normal click on target same as right click )
4b. Or you can type /loot.

 5. Quests. To get one, say to NPC blue name
 A. give me job.
 B. give me quest.
 C. may i help you.

 6. To set a Shortcut Open by clicking on  axe icon then on an empty window right click to open and type what you need. (commands for this are in help icon.( ? )

 7. To Pick up an item type /target next nearest item.. then type /pickup.

 8. To trade with someone right click them then click  the box in hand icon. drag item from right to left then click moneybag top left to complete.

 9. To Train first find the trainer you need if a NPC has a book icon then they train something, click on skill to train then moneybag to pay for it, keep doing this till you see a message saying you can train no more, it is time to go practice your skill to finish training.

10. To Drink or eat open inventory  [I on keyboard ]  click it drag it to your picture and let go. OR  Type /use OR /equip [name of item.]

11. To do a Action for example bows or nod or points. type /me bows or nods or points. [To get a list of game emotes, you type /listemotes.

12. lag Most common cause is music, so turn off in pssetup if you are suffering from this, also it is a cause of many crashes. You could also go to options/Graphics/Details, Set Distance lower, also you might even have to set Adaptive Distance low. Another little trick to try is set FPS cap on max. Do not worry, it will go down on its own.

13.To set Options click on the icon in row of icons, For all there is a set button on end, click this, then press key you want it to be, then click set, remember after you have done your changes, click save bottom left.

14. To find commands click on  help icon.( ? )

15. There is a Help channel for advice but please don't ask how to do or what to say regarding quests.

16. if you get stuck and cant move try typing /unstick and if you fall in pit there type /die Puts you back to start of Death Realm.

17. One button mouse . open options go to mouse next to ContexMenu click on SET. then save, gives right click on normal click,Reset puts it back. OR follow this post instructions. http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=31746.0

18.  Repair weapon. To do this you need a weapons repair kit, buy from Smithy. Hold weapon in right hand type  /repair.

19. Repair Armor. To do this yo need to type /repair [boots, gloves, legs, arms or torso.]

1. Arena should be run by an arena master, who has ? trainers under him, 2 per room in arena. you go to arena master and ask if a trainer is free in, melee,  magic, ranged or defence. then pay the trainer (tria and pp automatically deducted at this point) who points out a NPC / target, for you to train on, you do not kill the NPC but you do fight it, receiving small damage and giving small blows, at some point you yield to NPC, [when training is completed on the level you have paid for. This will probably happen automatically.] A level per day in that arena can be set, so player has to go to a new town to do more training or wait till next day. No loot from monsters in arena, this should be obtained out in the countryside or dungeons / sewers.

2. The same sort of system can be implemented for alchemy / herbal, and other skills such as glass blowing / cooking / tailoring. etc. By this I mean a building used to train in these skills, with a master and trainers. In the future it would be nice to see trade guilds set up for training their particular trade/skill.

3. This brings me to obtaining loot / tria. in the times this is set in it would be very hard to come by in large amounts, so it should be a lot harder to find monsters to kill and when you do you should get something, skin tooth nail etc. if you are fighting a rogue etc. you should at least get a weapon or item of armour. It should be more practical to earn your tria through mining, crafting, fishing etc.
[ I know this involves a lot of skills yet to be implemented, but it should be kept in mind that as it is at the moment you are sending out the message this is a fighting game first and foremost, not a role-play game.]

4. GM events, we all love to take part in them and enjoy the experience of role-play, but I feel the lack of a story to go with them is very disappointing, it would be better if they run into days or weeks.[ this is a suggestion for the future rather than now.]

5. Quests, these are slowly improving, [dialogue] but feel they should be very much harder to obtain, rather than just repeating "may i help you" till you get one, You should get them from lengthy chats with the NPC. Also you should get one based on your current stats / skills, [by this I mean; when you are new to game find or get me an apple is ok, but not get me two steel stock. To obtain them through your own means would normally take you a week or two of intense training, mining and killing / looting.]

6. Guilds, come on you have to be blind to see any fool can make a guild, name it whatever they like and get muppets to join it. Lets have some very serious guide lines made for this. Tria to form one is a joke 20,000, at the moment would take me about an hour to get that much. There should be at least four active members and guild leader, that's a joke, A guild should be an active part of the community, either role play or a working skill type guild or mercenary type [ for defence of the guild leader's interest.]
Suggested guide lines:
A. Been a active person in game for at least six months.
B. Have a minimum of 10% of members on line in a 24 hour normal day time not game time, [exemptions at public holidays.]
C. Pay a monthly fee to local government. [To be taken from Guild leader or nominated Treasurer]
D. Recruiting should not be done in game openly it should be done in an interview with guild leader or spokes person for guild. [This should encourage more in depth guild descriptions in the forums.]

7. Locations of traders needs to be reconsidered, for example tannery. in Ojavada is ok for players looting hides there, but if for example you are in the country on way to Bronze Doors, one has a long way to go to sell them, and to be honest not worth the trip as the prise for them is extremely low. [ This I fell is not very newbe friendly as they are encouraged to kill / loot rats to start with, also most races start life in game in Haydlaa.]

8. PvP. This is a tuff one to tackle, how do we not encourage it to get out of control.
Suggested guide lines:
A. No in town PvP, unless prior approval is given from a GM, [ for RP purposes, no penalty on death ]
B. Total loss of all tria on death, if on same day second time loss of all PP.[ This is to encourage a lot of thought into excepting a challenge or giving one, as there is a lot to lose if you are a wealthy person.] Also would like to point out this is meant to be as close to real life as posable, on death you would lose all your worldly possessions, now in game so we can continue playing this I feel would be more realistic.
C. RP deaths should not have a penalty.
D. Guild wars the loosing guild should pay a fixed sum to government.

In-Game Roleplay Events / GM events
« on: December 12, 2006, 03:34:54 pm »
First off would like to say I like participating in GM events.

But they are completely out of character, why? Games Masters are meant to police the game, gently remind players they are doing wrong, and put them on the straight and narrow path.

There is more than enough players in game doing there role-play, that all can participate in.

Lets take a standard GM event. spontaneous happening, rarely, hours of standing around waiting, instructions in plane chat [OOC], tele-porting missing or late players [OOC], Pets running around and jumping [OOC], normal in game pets do not do this.[at moment] monsters are the same moving freely, [OOC], last but not least, special prizes, if they cant be obtained in game [OOC],

The Hydlaa Plaza / Do you know haw hard it is ?
« on: December 02, 2006, 05:38:09 pm »
To disarm a bomb that can flatten a street.
To climb a mountain.
To send people into a situation that can kill them.
To risk your life to save someone.
I do and have, but the hardest task I  have ever faced is learning to spell.
For the last two years, thanks to a lot of friends I have made in this game, been learning how, even with the added difficulty of dyslexia, I have slowly been improving, although far from perfect, it is a vast improvement, so I would like to thank all thoughts players who have given me there time and patience.

 Thank you.   \\o//

Poetry, Comedy, and other. / My journey to Ojavada.
« on: October 28, 2006, 07:26:19 am »
Steadying myself for the long Journey ahead, I stand at the east exit gate, from Hydlaa. Looking out I see  in the distance a cliff face, I can just make out a path through, so on I go. On reaching the Cliff I slowly proceed,, as I hear this is quite often a rogue waylay point. Emerging safely out the other side, I stop and admire the view. To my left is a path and a few trees, looking right I see two small hills, looking a bit more right I see in distance a path and to the right are also some trees.

So deciding to get a better view of things I head for the two small hills. What a lovely view from the hills, I can clearly see the path on the left swings round in front of me, and is well travelled. To my right is a path of sorts but looks little used, so  I decide to head straight ahead to join the path that is swinging in from my left. Passing  through two small hills i head for a little hill to my front on the right. Standing on top of the hill,  I can see a fair distance.

Once again the path from the left swings in front of me, all the way over to my right, it looks well travelled still, but something tells me this is not the way to go. In front of me is a small rock beyond that is a path. Farther still is a sloping hill, to the left of that is a small stalagmite, to the right is a big tall stalagmite, deciding to head for the one on right as the path in distance seems to head that way I proceed on past the rock in front of me, heading for a few trees that I see the path is leading to. On reaching the trees I stop to have a look at what is ahead, my gut tells me to proceed on to the valley I see heading straight for the stalagmite. Going on through the valley I stop by a small stalagmite, on a well trodden spot of land. Looking to my front I see a raised plateau with a lone rock, I head towards it spotting the path in front of it as I go ahead, on joining the path I turn left, confident this is the way to go. Following the path up a slope to the right, I stop and looking right I see a Tunnel, feeling it is the right way to go I head for it.

After going through the tunnel I follow the path in front of me and I see a stream, walking up to the stream I can see a fang shaped rock, so I enter the stream and cross. I head up the path on the other side it swings to the left and runs alongside the stream, at the top of the slope I stop to look around. The path carries on along the stream, but I feel this is not the way to go so looking right I see way in the distance a stalagmite behind a ridge, also a rock in the shape of a fang again, to the right is a well travelled path so I decide to head that way. Stopping on a finger of rock I look around, so  now I have a choice as to where to go, left or right, feeling both ways will get me to where I want to go, I go left being left handed. careful not to fall and hurt myself I climb down the rock and head off to the path leading left, it swings round to the right behind what looks like an old volcano.
After following the path through a valley swing over to the right, on the top of a small rise I stop, glad that I did as a few trepor were here, not wishing to have a fight with them slowly pass them on the left, following the path still I see a slope going up and this is where the path is leading me,  at the top of the slope I stop in some trees to catch my breath as it has been a long Journey so far, looking around I see three ways to go; left, right or ahead towards a cliff. There is a path through the cliff, so I decide that is the way to go. I walk to it and follow the path cut out of solid rock, and on the other side the path rises up, onwards I go feeling my journey is almost over, after a steep winding climb my goal is in sight Ojavada.
