Wish list / Re: need huge capacity storage

See this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvgN5gCuLac and tell me it if it doesn't pertain to this discussion.

And now for something completely different..

What about coins?  Why don't they have any weight?
"Ah jeeze, I can't train the umteenth level of magery cause I don't have the strength to lift all the mulla I need." said the scrawny wizard that didn't think he needed strength since he wielded the power of the Gods with the wiggle of his pinky... "I guess  I'll have to use my seven mules... er, I mean.. apprentices stationed all around me next to the trainer."

But yeah go ahead, give the money weight, I don't play a wiz so I don't give a hoot.. but I'll bet you a million that soon after we'll get people wishing for paper currency.

If they were smart about it, they'd make an effort and pop it out on consoles as well. Akin to Fable(I/II) or Assassin's Creed but online, and let Sony and MS worry about the server end, respectively.  Heck that's what the PS and Xbox are for, FPS. ... And you won't  have to type out your flames or try to read theirs with voice chat!

I just had a slightly different idea - have a way of storing multiple containers as one game object, a sack holder of some kind
A chest of drawers... but "sack holder" sounds good too.

My understanding of this weapon was the use with or rather against rapiers and foils as the curled ends of the hilt could trap these thinner blades, where as short swords(gladius-esk) and long swords were too broad for this purpose.

Since these thiner blades are mainly piercers, unless you slash with the tip ala Zoro, they were more common after the introduction of hand Fire Arms(hand cannons/arquebus/muskets/etc) as these weapons proved devastating to armor and thus these thin blades had no armor to contend with, all be it perhaps a small metal breastplate(akin to conquistadors) and/or thin leather, these flexible blades thus could easily pierce the leather or circumvent the plate at the joints/edges. And with no traditional shields either, a second blade was a logical choice and with a sai like hilt to improve parries and trapping of opponents blades.

So ask yourself, what Era of European civilization does planeshift fall under? Middle/medieval ages, Roman, or later .. Napoleonic, etc.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: All Southern Hemisphere Players
« on: October 27, 2008, 01:04:07 am »
There's a couple of Chilean and Brazilian players about but spanish and portuguese is far removed from English, even more so toward that variant you kiwee's use. Hey Bruce??..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f_p0CgPeyA (yes I know you aren't an Aussie but i couldn't help it.)

As far as time zones are concerned, the southern hemisphere countries don't see a need for daylight savings and can't really see to sticking a broomstick up their rectum twice a year (changing those darn clocks) So they might be one hour back or forwards from their northern cousins(same longitude) depending on the time of year. And there for, keeping appointments with the north is quite impossible.

I'm giving you a piggy back ride and misstep, sending use both over a cliff. Do we both die or does my pudgy body break our short fall OR does the initial strip before the plunge initiate you falling off my shoulders/back and thuse leaving you on your butt but still on top of the cliff?

Obviously sitting down should make the one being carried drop off aswell.

What happens to the cart when owner dies?

Can carts be taken by others?

General Discussion / Re: A sense of direction

No actually my comment was dead on. You are getting all excited about adding an element to the game that is quite absurd. PS is not set on a vast empty space, like an ocean or desert or flying in the open sky. No! PS is set in a cave with walls and cliffs. Very good and obvious land marks ones that at beta should be seen quite clearly in the back grounds. The whole notion of a compass and the wasted effort to bringing one about is what I questioned.

But really, people get lost in PS?? REALY?!? WOW, that just blows my mind, how the heck can anyone get lost in a bordered zone, it's not like you can walk unbound in any direction with out end. And then for later on just think about it, you have a sheer face on one side and a drop on the other. we are talking about a face as tall as a mountain and the drop can be like talking about a ocean, cause that empty space is just as flat and featureless as if it was water filled. As an example, lets use LA. To the north you got the San Bernardino mountains to the south you got the Pacific Ocean and in between you got a bit under 50 miles of city and burbs. Even in the LA smog haze you can make out the mountains to the north and the empty space to the south. So I don't know how with the miniscule distance of just 10K you can't see the two obvious and most distinct land marks of the PS landscape. Now if the wall is on your right, you are traveling counter clockwise and if its on your left you are travleing clock wise and 10 K is not that far to see whats around, it's not like there's a horizon either.

So, what's next in the works? Let me guess, a sextant so you can plot longitude and latitude by the glow worms in the ceiling...

It's quite apparent that you all have talent, why can't you apply it to more constructive means.. I don't know, like mounts..  Anyway I apologize for deflating your balloon.

How hard is it to get lost on a freak'n donut?

You have a cliff on one side and a sheer face on the other so if you don't head in either of those directions you will eventually get back to where you came from.

Again, I don't care what Role Play you follow as long as I don't see any Felines or Reptiles acting like rabbits. If you're going to play a carnivor then Role Play as one.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: A Radical Idea, never to be implimented
« on: October 07, 2007, 11:06:29 pm »
Nice idea, then I would never have to level again. I could just relog a couple of times till I got a character with stats and skills close to what ever particular occupation I want to play that day and go at it. I can craft one hour relog and cast spells the next with out the months/years it take now to gain exp/PP and tria for the same result. Right on, it would make testing so much easier. Too bad it will never get implemented.

This was not the case before the series of barbarian pastoralist invasions in BC times, especially in South East Asia.  Remnants of that Golden Age survived into the medieval period, just not so much in Western Europe.
According to the settings team, PS is set in a EUROPEAN medieval age, whether that it be right after the Roman Collapse or closer to the renaissance, the Settings Dept hasn't stated. The Romans had pulleys and levers so the elevators in Winch aren't that significant as to put the age at which PS is set in. The use of steel in crafting puts the age past the roman collapse as the Romans did not posses furnaces to produce a reliable source of steel, their main metal was iron. We could argue that PS is in the renaissance age rather than medieval, but even less rights were given to the individual and peasantry than in the more chaotic period after the Roman collapse.

Food correlates to possession of land, at least in an agrarian culture. By this I mean, PS has established settlements and walled cities, contrary to a hunter/gather civilization stage. The agrarian use of land restricts the hunter/gather, establishes tightly set  boundaries and thus leading to land possession. So, if you want to keep on arguing, ask the settings team this, who owns the land and who grows the food, as for the moment it's a moot point being that we do not need to eat to survive. But since you all like arguing over the little things, I though I'd add this log to the fire.

Again I don't care what you RP,  as long as it does not effect the settings and over all game. once it crosses that line, guide line have to be set  and usually hard coded in order the have every one adhere to them. If we have different species, and the subject of food comes in to play in the game mechanics, specific dietary needs for each species need to be established as well or we might as well make every one human from the get go.

Repair can't be based on price, I can repair certain weapons that cost more than others that I can't. It is not based on the speed or damadge factor as those influence price too, and still that harks back to being able to repair deadlier ones and not its lesser kind. Mind you, the ones I am refering to are magic weapons, I could repair all the crafted kind at level 1.

The settings dept has placed PS in a medieval period, on Earth during that period, you were lucky if you ate at all let alone have a choice in what to eat. Also earths medieval time there were only humans to contend with the dietary needs, PS has several species that do not fit the normal human structure.

That being said, RP what ever you please but don't force your RP against the settings, ie make a vegan cat/reptile or a kran that eats meat or a Dioboli?? that wears and uses metals(eats)

Along the lines of what I suggested, to make the races even more distinct, if and when food becomes a necessity in the GAME, to reinforce the separation and characteristices of each species, a hard coded diet for each should be implemented. Not one that makes special food for each but one that limits what can and cannot be eaten.

I have a character that's lactate intolerant, I hope that PS will provide sufficient food stuff so that he can go through a day with out stomach cramps and puking..

... and another that's diabetic, he cannot have any refined sugars, including carbohydrates from grains and alcohol. So I hope the Devs are on the ball and the dessert trays will have plenty of  sugar free pies and cakes.

And I have another character that's ... ... ...

Maybe I wasn't  all that clear in my last post on this subject. Cats aren't herbivores, they only eat grass when they want to puke. My question stands, are the Cat like characters in PS cats or humans with fur? ie Humans are omnivores and have a choice.

I think in the end result, all the races should have specific diets, So we don't see vegan cats/reptiles(winged) or Krans ingesting vegetable or animal matter. Though I would allow Krans to down a few pounds of sugar daily so it pee out rum to his dwarven friends. As for the rest, they are all human or human like to behave like us furless apes in the real world. Though one of them horned character types  have aversions to metals, so maybe no red meat or leafy greens cause of their high iron constent and other such minerals/metals.

Now I am not suggesting specific diets for each that the others can't eat but more like guide lines that restrict what each can eat from the bounty the harvest brings, hard coded of course.
