Well, if this is implemented, and there is a need of \"forcing\" OOC\'ers to roleplay a bit more, then you could do it like this:

a: variabel that counts lines of OOC Chat
b: Variabel that counts RP chat lines.

Then simply make the client do the following:

a/b=c

Then one would only be able to write in OOC chat if c is below a certain value.

NOTE. This is not a representation af how i think this problem shuld be solved (personally i really don\'t know), but more like an idea for dooing \"some\" OOC control

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/planeshift/planeshift/docs/history.txt?view=auto

Where some of us found out that rain was iimplemented arround the 18 May..

Just thourght you ourght to know ;-)

Okay, this is just 4 fun, I thought people might want to try it:

The rules are simple.

First, I have uploaded 3 screenshots from PS.

Your goal is to take the same 3 screenshots, but with your character information in it (to prevent cheating). (use the /Screenshot command)

Afterwards you take 3-5 new screenshots of new places.

Then you log out, and post all the screenshots in this thread (please make it clear which screenshots are the new ones), but only do this if someone hasn?t done it yet.

And so the hunt continues. But now the goal is to mirror the new screenshots, provided by the firs successful poster.

As I?m fairly new to this game, I don?t know if this have been tried yet, or if people just think it is a stupid idea, so I just wanted to give it a go.

Seams like a good idea, but then relearning that skill should be far easier than original (we all know that learning something second time is easier).

Maybe PS should offer a Freeze account option? This would freeze an account so that nothing happened to it for a specific time, but when the account is frozen, one cant play. This would help the holyday people?

General Discussion / Why do you think ?
« on: May 23, 2005, 12:42:37 am »
It should be said that I think that the current arrangements for PS regarding licenses are the best possible solution.

As I see it, the real problem would be if a company started selling PS CD/DVD copies as their product, which this way of licensing solves (And don?t tell me that this wouldn?t happened, we live In a world where people gladly starts a war because of something as stupid as power, and besides it has already happened for a few other software products (I can?t remember the exacts situations)).

As it is now, the PS engine (if one can call it that) is under GPL which means that it could be used as a base for creating a lot of games.

The database (art, sound, rules etc.) are under the PS license because it seems necessary if you are working with artists, and because the people behind Planeshift want a unique game (as in you are not able to copy the game change the Splash screens and then call it you own game) and since they lead the whole project, then guess what? They actually kind of have the power here!

As I see it, this is the optimal solution, and if the unthinkable thing happens that Atomic blue Shuts down the whole PS project, then don?t you think that they would GPL all the work before doing so ?

Just my 5 cents, hope that it is okay

/Kunisch

PS.: Sorry it this seams like a meaningless post, but I have spend the last week arguing over this license (with IRL friends) and it makes me kind of frustrated.

Hmm I like the idea, but the quest should be ridiculously hard to sole, you know, so its a real adventure and not just a ?task?. (but I know there is a long way to go before this becomes relevant). But how do you split the prize of the Quest ?

Okay, thank you for the tech-pov. on things. But well as you said, the devs have a lot of things to do before this becomes important

I followed the AAAAAAArgh and thought about telling ppl. to go rant and rave other places, but I voted against it as I thought that one single topic could be used to let some steam off. But as I can se now, that doesn?t work, so I would like introduce a nice little feature on this kind of forum, it is called a PM (Private message). The PM?s should be used when the topic is relevant to only one person (as this clearly is). So please, personal comments: USE THE PM BUTTON THANKS.

/Kunisch

PS: I realise that this might seem personal, but that is not the intend of it. The only reason I posted this is that I am tired of seeing topics which should have been in a mail o gar PM on the boards. So please use the PM. (Summed up, I?m only posting this so others can learn)

Edited for language.

Just to clarify, the rules say 18, but you can join if you get your parents to sign same documents. But in general the rules say 18 or above. The easiest thing would be to send a mail to the team leader and take everything from there:

Well the general idea would be to divide the maps in to smaller sections. Then there would be set some kind of threshold near the ?end of the map? and when one crosses that the PS client would start loading the next map/section in the background (with what is left of the recourses). This would (if it could be done and if it works) at least reduce the loading of the new map, and if it worked perfectly it would kill the lading time. The threshold should be set so that when the character crosses it, the computer will have enough time to load the map in the background, so that no extra loading time is needed.

But then again I can?t code (yet) and I don?t know if this is even possible, and there are probably many better things the devs could do.
