Guilds Forum / Re: [Guild] The Knights of Vengeance

Name Suggestion:

Cavaliers of Vengeance

Only because the word knight is so overused.

Hmm, is 'Knight' really a so overused word? I only know one, maybe 2 active guilds with this name, I think there are much more overused names, like 'Order' and much guildnames with a form of 'Light'.

I really like your guild project Duraza, keep on working on it! It has a great potential, it is not the all day 'We protect Yliakum' guild. Even though I think you will change some points in your guild structure. But that's the same with all guilds, a guild is created and formed all the time by it's members, only a bad arranged guild is static, so don't worry.

It appears I understood the complaint correctly. Is it accurate to say that there is a minimum percentage or stamina needed in order to continue to work or is it sufficient to have enough to complete the job?

Everybody needs at least 30% of his stamina to work. So it happens that people with low stamina need all their stamina to work and they stay a while at 0% until the work is done.

Quote
It would seem to me that a well trained person with a high stamina and quicker recovery rate (is that possible?) would be able to do a lot of low difficulty jobs more quickly than an inexperienced person even if the stamina cost for the job remains the same due to his faster recovery rate.

The recovery rate in points (not %) is the same at well trained persons as well as at low trained persons. That means the recovery rate in % is much quicker of a person who has not much maximum men stamina.

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, so I don't know if it is a case for the bugtracker.

Remember to act in-character as much as possible when talking to others! We are all working towards a Roleplay atmosphere in PlaneShift. OOC should be used only in /tell with a GM, in the help channel or in petitions. All other communications have to be IC. OOC text should be designated with brackets - [ ] - as regular text comes from the mouth of your character, who knows nothing about computers, video games, the internet, or Picasso

Planeshift is full of these discrepancies, but pssst or a mod will tell you it's point of view...  :whistling:

To be serious: Planeshift is made only by a few people, so don't be impatient or annoying with thinks like this...by the way: why are there only a very few who are in the planeshift team? I am quite sure there are a lot of smart people who would work for free for planeshift, maybe you have to concentrate on recruiting of new members. It seems there are too much testers and too less team members. Of course, more members means more coordination but I think that should not be the problem I hope.

Sorry for my bad english.  :-[ I will try to explain again:

an example:

Character A has 1000 men. stamina points. He starts hammering his blade at 300 points (30%) and finishes at 90 points (9%)
Character B has 100 men. stamina points. He starts hammering his blade at 30 points (30%) and finishes at 0 points (0%)

If they want to hammer a blade again (the normal thing if you train crafting) both have to wait until they reach 30% of their men. stamina. That means:

Character A has to wait until 210  points regenerated to reach 30% (300 points). He needs let's say 1 second for one point, means he has to wait 210 seconds to work again. (the time is not so long, just an example)

Character B has to wait until 30 points has regenerated to reach 30% (30 points). He needs to wait 1 second for one point too, means he has to wait only 30 seconds.

So a character with low men. stamina can train faster weapon making and/or blacksmith than a character with much men. stamina. I don't believe that this is desirable.
You can solve this problem if you make it that you need the same time to regenerate one percent instead of one point or if you change the limit of 30% to an absolute number of men. stamina points.

I hope this was more clear than my first post.

You need at a high level in blacksmith/weaponmaking the same time and the same stamina points to hammer a blade than at a low level.
In fact you don't have an advantage if you have much men.stamina, you have a disadvantage because you have to wait much longer to start working again.

Yes, I think of tools like rock picks and hammers, or even kitchen tools for cooks would be great to make from metals.

Quote
Also, iron and coal, - components needed for steel are less rare than for bronze, what makes steel even more superior. Of course in Yliakum natural resources are  maybe differently rare.

The question which material you should be able to work on at first is not a question of the quantity of it, it is a question how easy you can work on it, means which has a low smelting temperature and which allows little mistakes in the amount of the part of an alloy.

once again the prehistorical order metal was used:

- at first copper
- then bronze (maybe an accidentally alloy made at a place in east europe where tin and copper can be find at the same place)
- same time with bronze gold and silver
- at last iron, later then hardened with coal, maybe accidentally too from the roman province Noricum where iron can be found with a high amount of carbon

But I see no need to make a sense with working on the metals, it is Yliakum and not the real world. It's like crafting, nobody would sharpen a blade and than hammer it several times to raise the quality of the blade. In Yliakum we do. An other example is that we cannot use molten iron to make steel, in real world this is the normal way to make steel...

Complaint Department / Time to increase men. stamina
« on: July 30, 2007, 02:42:55 am »

I noticed something: If your character is maxed out in his stats you have very much points in mental stamina. If not, they are much less. As far as I know men. stamina is influenced mainly from WILL, means high WILL much men.stamina.

My character is a crafter and needs men. stamina to hammer it's blades. It needs at least 30% of the men. stamina to work (same with mining). If it hammers some blades the men. stamina goes down to 30%. Hammering a blade then and the men.stamina goes down to about 9%. Then I have to wait until it reaches 30%.

A character who hasn't trained it's WILL has less men. stamina. If it hammers a blade it goes down to zero, and would even go to negative, means it stands a long time at zero until finishing hammering. Now this character has to wait until it's men. stamina reaches 30% too, but it reaches much more faster 30% than a trained character with much WILL and many men. stamina points.
It is because the time to increase one single point of the men. stamina is in both cases the same. That means the increase is not percentaged, it is absolute.
That means that a crafter with much men. stamina has at a disadvantage with the one who has less men stamina because the one with much stamina needs more time to increase it's stamina.

This would not be if either the increase would be percentaged or if the 30% limit would be changed to a absolute limit of men. stamina points.

Just as addition: The only useful metal for crafting is steel. There is no way to use iron stocks, neither for weapons nor for shields (you can only make shield parts but you cannot combine them to a shield)

If you think about the use of metals in the prehistorical order (after Christian Thomson's so called 3 period system) you have to use at first stone, then copper, then bronze, then iron and then steel.
But PlaneShift is a fantasy world, only with a medivial touch, means we don't have to use this order.

For now there is already a order in metalurgy: iron, steel, silver and bronze and finally gold.

What I would prefer is that you can add some minerals like diamonds if you are a more skilled crafter to sharpe your blades. This weapons would have a higher slash than normal steel weapons then.

In general I agree with rtrentc, there are so many different types of weapons ingame but you can only craft a few types. Only axemaking allows you to make two non standart types of axes, but these are still bugged.
What I want to say: There are e.g. bronze short swords in the game as well as bronze but you cannot use bronze to craft bronze swords.
An other interesting thing would be if a very high skilled magician could be able to make dark or fire or other types of magic weapons from crafted weapons. But that's another issue...

As I said: if the old Q300 bugrafted weapons were wiped before some weeks nobody would complain today about his lost weapons because of autostacking.

I cannot understand why somebody is whining about loosing his weapons made with another crafting system. The recent crafting system don't allows to craft Q300 weapons without much, very much training. You only whine because you are not able to do Q300 weapons again for now. So you whine about a bug which makes you lose your bugcrafted weapons. Though there are ways not to be forced to use this bug, like equipping weapons before you take a new one from the smith table to avoid autostacking. If you do this several times it is your fault. Normally you even notice the bugged stacking if you make gold ingots, melt steel or take any other items from a world container.

If I were a developer I would delete all things connected with an old system full of bugs before I introduce a new system. But this didn't
happen. I cannot understand why there is no wipe of all Q300, maybe all weapons over Q250. Until now there are only a very few weapons made without stacking and repairing which have a quality over 250. But day for day they become more, believe me, I am very involved in the crafters scene.

Sure, you can say no need for a wipe, it is just a game. But the point is: Why are other things wiped, like trias? It is just a game...why will be all characters and/or skills wiped before finishing the game? It is just a game...

No more high quality weapons made from me in game

 \\o//

Well Tutoned, you were one of the crafters who made a lot of Q300 swords in the old release, you even was not afraid to offer them in  public. Don't complain about a bug now. If there is a bug (making copies of old Q300 swords with the help of stacking and repairing) you don't complain, you use it to your advantage.

By the way: don't tell us you are able to make Q264 short swords a legal way, in the old release! These 'several Q264' swords was made with the help of a bug, so it is only justice if they became nearly useless now  :P

You have to wait about 15 seconds I think, then you can use /unstick. It was added to prevent abuse /unstick, e.g. jumping from cliffs and use it.

In my opinion the best way would be to have all skills with level 0 trained full, so the player can start in the game even if the NPCs are impervious. So there is no need for starting money or starting-item. Money is easy to get, as begggar, as helper who carries raw materials for a miner and other jobs like quests of NPC's.

« on: July 11, 2007, 05:33:50 pm »
And what makes you think Q300s cant be made the honest way?

They can be made in a honest way, but there was no crafter at this time I asked at first for a wipe able to make a Q300 weapon by the honest way. That's why I said to make a wipe soon before the first crafters make them by the honest way. You will need blacksmith lvl 30 and weaponmaking at least lvl 30 I think, maybe even lvl 40. Nobody had this level as I asked the first time, and the most common way even one hour before the update was to stack and repair. I know a lot of crafters who made and selled bugused Q300 weapons, most of them told me not to betray them. I won't do this, no, but I wanted to achieve a fair game for all, that's why I tried to sensitise the community to this bugused weapons.

And no, Q300/300 are still Q300! At leat the ones I have. And I know that they are bugcrafted.

Yes, Drah, it is possible that you got ripped of, ripped off from a cheater. The person who earned the 400k earned them with using a bug.
But now nobody will be able to craft new ones in this way.

@lorac: I don't understand what you want to say to me. I already said that the bug is fixed now. But why do you talk about mules that carry over weight? If I have only one mule that can carry 220 weight then the mule could carry 220 daggers. Imagine I have 10 mules, and imagine there are 10 crafters who have each 10 mules. Maybe now you can imagine why the weapon market will be saturated in future from the mules, and why it would last a long time until the econemy with weapons will be balanced.

I have no idea if you ever crafted a weapon, but if you woul spend month at the anvil you woul recognise the problem that was. But, now it is fixed except the fact that there are still big amount of the weapons. And: there are still Q300 weapons in the game, even after the update, they aren't now Q250.

Maybe I should tell some background nowledge to clarify:

- there was a time everybody was able to do high quality weapons, even with a quality over 1000
- then there was a downgrading for all this weapons to Q250
- after the downgrading there was a little time everybody (without any skills in blacksmith and weapon making) was able to do Q300 weapons
- then there was a new crafting system implemented, the system that is the actuell system: now you are able to make a Q40 weapon with much luck with blacksmith and weaponmaking level 0. But, person who made a Q300 in the short time during the downgrading to Q250 and the change of the crafting system was able to make copies of them, as much as they liked to do. They just made a weapon (maybe Q25) and stacked it on a Q300 they have crafted (only if they were the crafter) and repaired both weapons up to Q300/300.

That's what I complained about, and why I asked to wipe the weapons, because they are made with the help of a bug. And we all use these bugcrafted weapons now, we paid the cheater to cheat for us.

In my opinion you are afraif of a wipe because you spend your money for the bugcrafted weapons. But: Ignorance is no excuse and we are testers, so you have to live with a wipe, if it is coming. As I said: The silverweaves and trias you could find everywhere was wiped too.

To the issue about better weapons than Q300/300 I say nothing because I don't know them. Though I am a very experienced player and my char can equip all weapons that don't need over level 200 in a stat. Saying 'better weapons' means: making more damage in the same time.

Second answer, using the 300 quality weapon as a template to craft other such weapons without having the skill to do so is an exploit and a bug. It's unfair towards those crafters who do not posses these high quality weapons. So if you want to play fair, no you can't use it that way. Technically you could be punished by the GM team for doing this but you won't be able to do it for much longer anyway.

I expect a nice high quality weapon wipe as soon as the next version becomes available.

Well, it seems that nearly everybody who buys a Q300 weapon supports crafters which use a bug, and bugusing = cheating.
So, all the money you paied for your Q300 you paid maybe to a cheater, you paid him/her and he/she cheated for you...

That's why I asked to wipe them, to wipe them before the first honest crafters who worked hard to do a Q300 are able to do some legaly.
It's no big thing to ask for a wipe! When everybody could find a silverweave and big amount of trias there were wiped to. But the difference is, that there everybody had the same chance to find the tria and silverweaves. Q300 copies could only be made by players who made them in the old crafting time, so it's even more unfair.

But, the stacking system changed now, the max quality becomes the average of the stacked items, so there is no way to copy Q300 now anymore, but there are a lot of crafter who have still mules full of high quality selfmades, so it will last a long time until the price for selfcrafted weapons made by honest crafters will be worth the work they have done to train to make good weapons.

And who knows lorac, maybe our characters know each other better than you think, maybe you would not be so bold to tell me that there is no Intel in this topic, and you won't tell me something about maxed stats and better weapons...maybe
It's a general problem that the answers an a post depends more on the person who posted something and less on the content. This problem can be found everywhere and is quite normal, we all are humans, but I have to say that in this forum it is in a much higher gear than it is normal.

General Discussion / Re: Fighting on Plaza ALWAYS OOC???
« on: July 10, 2007, 04:22:49 pm »
Some food for thought:

From Hydlaa plaza it's approx:

15 seconds to the sewers,
30 seconds to the arena
20 seconds to the dungeons
45 seconds to either city gate

Well, the time in Yliakum is not the time on your clock, Valorius. But a good roleplayer knows this.
