In-Game Roleplay Events / Re: The Kingdom of L'Olath...

So it's an isle on one of the lower submersed levels of Yliakum? Then why is the temple called "The Lunar Temple", as Yliakum has no moon?

I apologize; the Isle is on the Surface of the World, sticking out of the Ocean. I'm still confused as to what Yliakum actually IS, and I've never heard or seen on this site the word Kadaikos. I know, I'm a newbie.

I was thinking Yliakum.

It was one of the places that the Nolthrir were created.

The Ylian, lots and lots of years afterwards, came by boats, once they had the resources.

[What I'm thinking is that Laanx and Talad didn't go so far out of their way to focus on this kingdom that events would have changed. Laanx just liked the way the lunar energy focused on that certain isle. Talad just prevented a major civil war. This isle is important, but the gods didn't take much notice of it.

If this would be approved, it would certainly add to the game, unless the devs have a sort of map or something. To me, personally (THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION!) it doesn't seem like they've got the geography and the in-between events quite figured out. I mean, the events between Talad and Laanx took a couple of hundred years at LEAST. It seems likely they would have done something during those times where they had nothing better to do. >.> Every God has those. XD

Also, I'm leaving room for other players to submit their ideas.]

In-Game Roleplay Events / The Kingdom of L'Olath...
« on: November 25, 2007, 08:41:33 pm »
Long, long ago, while the world was still newborn, a seemingly sacred Isle made of mountains, desert, forest, plains, and swamp reached high unto the clouds. Laanx, seeing the beauty, set up a Lunar Temple in the woods, before she and Talad pierced the depths of the Stone Labyrinths. Dangerous creatures were drawn some hundred years after, however before this happened a people rose up. The Nolthrir. The entire time praying, a few miles east of the Temple they migrated into a deep Valley. The words inscribed (put there by Laanx herself)

Whomever has found these sacred words, behold. I have created land for you; fertile, bountiful land full of hopes and promises...

The Nolthrir tribes soon, under these words which they held sacred, came together. Year after year, they created their town of what they soon named "L'Olath", eventually creating the Castle, with one of its many towers taller than (and leaning against) the mountain itself. All was well. Crops and healthy animals allowed them to be self-sustaining enough for them not to depend on trade. Until the Ylians came. Guided by a man whose last name was "Etearna", the Ylians soon dominated the Nolthrirs. A fierce war would have ensued, if Talad had not decided to step between them. His holy words to them both were these:

We are all those of the earth here, are we not? Did myself and Laanx not spring you from our eternal womb into creation?

Seeing, through Talad, that they were mistaken, the Ylian commander, Unyua Etearna and the Nolthrir tribes [OOC NOTE: There were no documents found on the history of the names or habits of the Nolthrir, only these events] created a treaty. Blessed by Talad, the Eternal Treaty was made; as long as the Etearna family ruled L'Olath, Nolthrir would be free to roam as they wish in and out of the sacred caverns of the, now named, Etearna Castle. In return, the Etearna family and ruling would have to uphold the Ten Sacred Laws of the Nolthrir. If broken, the Nolthrir would instinctively attack the kingdom of L'Olath, rule it once more, and bring the Ylian dominian to an end.

The agreement was made, after several failed negotiations. Now, hundreds of years later, numerous ports have been set up around the Valley, allowing travelers to come freely back and forth to and from L'Olath.

The Western side of the Isle has many towns, as well, with their own ports. Jagz, a town made entirely out of shaped tree roots, made by vast numbers of mages and is a magic-dominant town; about as large (though not as tall) as L'Olath. Chath, a town mainly used for technology, has huge problems with poverty. 76% of the population is in utter poverty, and the Noble minority has built an actual, physical wall, blocking the Noble district from the slums.

Port Drakkan, a vastly important trade center, is on the south side of the isle, against the Draconian Gulf. Lake Sound, a lake/town set within the center of the isle, is a popular destination for those who wish for beautiful scenery set in rolling hills in the border of the Great Forest.

[OOC: And voila. I want other people's thoughts and contributions, so don't be afraid to post! :D]

I'm thinking bounty hunter, instead. I feel dumb for saying mass murderer. I was definitely not thinking that day.

[Well, to be honest, I actually wanted to create an entire nation I've been making for a while now; but 1: I don't think anyone would allow a player to make something that big, and 2: I didn't think incredibly hard on this char. I'm waiting for new models to be released so that I can use my other characters which I HAVE thought about.]

In-Game Roleplay Events / A public killer--gone missing?

What do you think of this?

Searith Idella, Ynnwn

Birthplace: Unknown.

Birthdate: Unknown.

Age: Unknown.

Height: Average Ynnwn, 2/2.5 meters.

Crime: Convicted of mass killings in public as well as taking important government documents. These documents have been recovered, however many of her victims were unidentifiable. Those close enough to her that did not die report her wielding a katana of some sort. Searith is now considered to be missing; she has not been seen for weeks, and there have been no reported killings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[So says the document.

What really happened, was that Searith had successful parents. A successful home. A successful life suddenly stripped away from her. (Of course, more detail would be released as the RP progressed.) Suddenly, in an unknown tragic accident, it was taken away from her. A bloodlust at the loss of all her parents raised her to depend on started to form. Searith would be the killer of over 57 people, mainly those who held positions of power. One day, however, she came apoun a strange imp-like creature. Seemingly harmless, she ignored it. The imp followed her, hopping along, until she finally drew her sword on him.

This was no normal imp. Searith, by the imp's power, was dragged into an alley after a severe blow to her head. The imp drained all the power she had gained throughout her life, including her memory. His parting words were, "By the power of the gods, no longer shall you kill, no longer shall you live a life where all fear you and you are free to roam... No longer".

Then she woke up, memory lost, possessions gone, except for cheap clothes on her back. Her life was turned back to start.]

Well, it downloaded. In a brilliant, laggy show, I went to the Character Creation. No details for the model, just barely colored polygons. I absolutely HATE Vista.

I have everything else up to par. I should get more RAM though. Siiiiiigh....

Onto the next forum to see if there's anything else I can do (I went into the game, same problem. Except those barely-colored polygons kept changing as I had to take thirty minutes to FINALLY get the cursor to the settings, where (not to my surprise) there was nothing that could help me).

It's just about to install, when the aforementioned error pops up.

There are several, but the first one spicifically says: C:\Program Files\Planeshift Crystal Blue\updater.exe

I'll double check my files, but I'm pretty sure I uninstalled all of it beforehand.

EDIT: Looks like when I uninstalled, some files didn't get deleted. Apparently I don't have permission to download them (I'm the Administrator, which is weird).

Still, once it downloads, I'll tell you what happened.

...great. I've spent all my time on several different mirrors trying to download, and it's saying it has an "Error opening File for writing".
