Please post your system specs, most crashes are hardware- or driver-related.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU  Q720 @ 1.60GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 6.00GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System (Windows 7)
Display adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

Um... is there anything else you need (if so please direct me to where to find the information)?

I just tried this morning - everything loaded fine. Then I went through the loading zone that I refused to go through before... it loaded... then I started walking and everything froze came up with those "Planeshift has experienced and unexpected crash" and like before told me that I'm using the wrong version and thus may be the reason why I crashed that the new version might have fixes for the crashes. I clicked okay and my PSLaunch reopened and would let me choose to play/repair etc again. I simply closed it for the moment.

Can anyone tell me if my installing the 32-bit instead of 64-bit will cause any issues? Thank you in advanced.

Too bad Kore Irka Clan isn't around for you anymore. IRC channels still open though.

I don't see how that comment is a relevant comment to fixing my issue of getting Planeshift to run smoothly and fix these issues I have nor is it the answers to my questions I've been asking.

3
Just used the PSLaunch and typed in my account details, selected my character, and it managed to load. I'm not sure what the issue was before maybe it didn't restart after installation or something. Haven't yet tried to go through a loading zone (if they still exist) yet but so far so good. The issue seems to be resolved.

Ignore the warning about 0.5.3, it is simply wrong.

Well because of the warning it won't let me play the game. Unless I'm correct in thinking that since i downloaded the 32bit instead of 64 that Planeshift won't work. If I am incorrect - then I'm curious to know what the issue is that is stopping me playing. Thanks in advance to anyone who manages to help me get planeshift to work and play properly!

PS: I will come back periodically to help give information if required though I'm quite busy with TAFE and real life so hopefully this post doesn't die cause I would love to be able to get back into the game!

So I came back from a long break. Am on a new computer and forgot that it is Windows 7 64-bit instead of 32-bit.

Installed the 32-bit instead of 62-bit, wondering if this would be an issue?

I manage to use PSClient as the PSLaunch won't let me type in my old account details and login, yet Client will. So I login with my details and select my character and login. Get the crash id of:

CrashID=bp-8d2885c5-08a6-4d04-8af1-16f722101005
Thanks for submitting your report.
***NOTICE***
You are running an old version of the client for which this crash may already be fixd. Please update to 0.5.3 using the updater or download from www.planeshift.it

Problem is when I first downloaded it tonight - I used the updater and it said it was updated. Can somebody please help? I think it may be that I downloaded the wrong version for my PC and maybe it didn't update properly. Thanks in advance, looking forward to coming back to the game.

If any additional details are required let me know and I will try to get them asap!

No - C:\Windows\Performance is not the location.

You can enter %APPDATA%\PlaneShift into your "Run..." dialog, or into the address line of an Explorer window; this should lead you to "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application data\PlaneShift" (or similar); there should be a file called "shadercache" (which is in fact a ZIP archive without filename extension). This file should have been built once with the first start of the client.

But that may only work well after you were once able to run pslaunch and set up all relevant options (especially graphic detail levels). If your pslaunch never worked, then psclient will probably not work either, already due to a few missing configuration files in your %APPDATA%\PlaneShift folder.

Unfortunately, it is hard to imagine a reason why pslaunch would not be able to run. At least a basic OpenGL implementation should be a prerequisite almost everyone can provide.

Alrighty I'm back from my little holiday still dead tired but I shall deal. Okay so when I did the "Run..." dialog with what you said - it took me to "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\PlaneShift" in that folder it simply has a logs folder, some quest notes and this - updaterinfo.xml.download (it has 0 bytes). There wasn't a file called shadercache and my pslaunch never worked. I believe I will simply uninstall and re-install, hopefully it will be nice and work after that.

7
The shadercache did not get rebuilt?! ... It should get rebuilt after deleting - if that did not happen, maybe the crash prevented that.

Please note that you might not find it if you don't activate searching for hidden items too, because the file is located in a hidden folder (%APPDATA%\PlaneShift).

Not sure where to find that folder but I redid my search for "shadercache" everywhere and including hidden items and found these files. Though they were under different folders so I think they are some other files not related to planeshift.

ShaderCache.ps_2_0 (four times - one located at C:\Windows\Performance. The other three -> C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-w..ystemassessmenttool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_795e35dcba6ee826)
ShaderCache.vs_1_1 (again same as above four files first located at C:\Windows\Performance. The other three -> C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-w..ystemassessmenttool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_795e35dcba6ee826)

Otherwise I have no other search results for that. I think I may just uninstall, delete all related (planeshift) files. Re-install with the torrent download and see if that works. I doubt it but worth a try. Feel free to give any advice but I will not be here this weekend so I will respond as soon as I get home and can get on here. Thank you all for the help and trying so hard.

Edit: I had a thought that perhaps my psclient.cfg or pslaunch.cfg don't have the correct or full information that might mean the .exe wouldn't work. Or I would assume so anyway. So if Akaiddo could perhaps mention how big those file sizes are... I know it's probably not the root cause of my issue but hey worth a shot.

Akaiddo: i downloaded that link just the other day... though I noticed I still had the old driver folder in there too, so I deleted that and setup the new drivers. Then rebooted my computer and tried pslaunch first (both double-clicking - to open program and run as admin) same issue. Next I went to psclient.exe and double clicked it got this error CrashID=bp-5463dd55-2beb-47ae-8bf2-1806d2100303 . So next I tried running psclient.exe as admin and got this error CrashID=bp-86b754b8-57e5-4b7c-866a-2d0012100303 . I get the feeling it likes giving my crash id's to try and figure out.

I checked your new crash report and you are still crashing shader evaluation. Maybe you should try deleting the shadercache.

In regards to shadercache I deleted that ages ago, just ran a search on my computer everywhere for that and it found nothing. So as far as I know... it shouldn't be on there.

Thank you LigH, I am trying to give as much details as I can find so you (and anyone else) can hopefully fix my issue, as I was and still am interested in being an avid planeshift-er. I will try what Akaiddo has suggested and if that fails may turn to my resident nerds in my life (not sure how much help they will be able to be though).

I downloaded from the nvidia website and rebooted my computer, but I will try the link you gave Akaiddo. I believe I will install this tomorrow morning as I am heading to bed very soon and I will have plenty of time tomorrow to try things out and respond to things that may need to be done.

10
Your crash report indicates you are crashing in shader evaluation. We need to know the exact graphics card you are using.

Thanks.

NVIDIA GeForce 8400 - I checked and the new driver for it came out yesterday so I'm currently updating it, hopefully after I do this my issue is solved.

...; Properties of your desktop, Advanced; Control Panel ... Device Manager; your computer's offer or bill; freeware system analysis tools - e.g. AIDA32, HWiNFO32, SiSoft Sandra Lite...).

c|net Downloads: Free Diagnostic Software for Windows (ignore the "optimizers", look only for those which report existing hardware).

Since I'm using Vista right clicking on the desktop results in changing the desktop background, etc. Appearances. Found the device manager just not sure what information is needed from there (gave my "display adapter" information). I am slightly wary about installing software that would report existing hardware, so for the moment I am skipping that (unless I absolutely must). Not sure about the computer's offer or bill so I can't really do anything with that either. Hope that this was slightly useful and my issue can get fixed.

Edit: Updated my graphics driver and restarted my computer. I tried to run psclient.exe and got a different crash id (still having the same error with pslaunch.exe though). So the crash id is: CrashID=bp-9537fd07-ef4b-436f-8da5-e4d9e2100302 .

There are lots of sources for such information (Properties of "My Computer"; Properties of your desktop, Advanced; Control Panel ... Device Manager; your computer's offer or bill; freeware system analysis tools - e.g. AIDA32, HWiNFO32, SiSoft Sandra Lite...).

c|net Downloads: Free Diagnostic Software for Windows (ignore the "optimizers", look only for those which report existing hardware).

Most important: Technical details about your graphic card chipset (GPU) and brand/model. And a driver version number is better than "the current version".

Also interesting: Your processor (CPU), your amount of RAM.

Hope I get this stuff right, if you need more info let me know.

Windows Vista Home Premium
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo
Memory (RAM): 2GB
Not sure where to find the info about my graphics card but I know it's Nvidia.

That's as much as I can give at the moment let me know where/how to find more if you need it.

The fact that pslaunch.exe "stopped working" is a rather strange one ... all it needs a working OpenGL driver, internet access, and a few access rights for your application data folder.

More details about your hardware might be useful.

What details would you like? If possible could you tell me where to find them from and I will get them to you.

I just downloaded the planeshift client through download link on the planeshift website (through the torrents area) for Windows Vista 32 bit (file version 0.5.2.1). I went to where the planeshift client.exe had downloaded to and ran the .exe to install the game and it installed with no issues onto my computer. I tried to run both pslaunch.exe (which it told me stopped working and windows was closing the program) and psclient.exe which when I reported the program had quit unexpectedly I got this: CrashID=bp-ad680bdd-14bb-4637-8d57-6b36a2100301 . Can somebody please tell me what to do?

I tried going into the command prompt and doing cd C:\Program Files\PlaneShift
pslaunch --repair

it said that all files passed the integrity check. Any suggestions are welcome to help get this to work. All my graphics drivers etc are up to date. Thank you all in advanced!

Joccey Fication!

I forget how to run as admin in a command prompt, you'll probably need to do that to repair successfully.

Also, it relies on Fragnetics (Laanx) or an official PS update mirror being online to check the files are right.

Any ways I can find out when the mirrors (etc) will be online? Or how to find out to repair with the admin? Thanks heaps so far anyway, Akkaido.

15
run these commands in Command Prompt:

cd C:\Program Files\PlaneShift

pslaunch --repair

That should fix it up. Fingers crossed :)

I do that yet then it says "PlaneShift Updater Version 2.00 for win32.

Checking the integrity of the install:
Beginning integrity check!

There are no active mirrors! Please check the forums for more info and help!
Failed to download updater info from a mirror!
Updater finished!
Press a key to close this window..."

The error when I try to open pslaunch.exe either normally or in administrator is that it "has stopped working". When I try to open psclient.exe I get an error of, "Something unexpected has happened in PlaneShift!
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 011EABDB" it won't let me save a diagnostic file. I'm not sure whats going wrong. Help would be nice please, sorry if this was the wrong place to post this.
