Q: Will we be able to answer these questions if we participate in the CB beta or is that stuff Classified?

Art, rules, and everything else included in the PS License is under the NDA, and noone who is testing CB can tell about that stuff. That even goes for what you can say to an NPC.

As for all the things you can find in the CVS... Well, go ahead and ask.

who will be allowed to play CB next time ?

The ones who get selected for phase two.

How many group of CB player will be created like that ?

Phase two should be the last test before it\'s released.

And finally why are the dev proceding like that ?

There\'s no point in releasing a bugged game to 10000 people and receiving 5000 spam reports saying the server is down every time they log in, and another 5000 spam reports saying they can\'t log in but don\'t know why. Then there\'ll be 8000 more reports saying character creation doesn\'t work, and 6000 asking why they can\'t log in. After that, 2000 new posts will be telling this game is stupid, and the last 4000 will be asking when the problem is fixed.

There are lots of stupid people out there, that\'s why they don\'t get to test right away. :)

Will I have a chance to reconnect without restarting the game?

Currently, no. Maybe in the future, but not as it is right now.

Q: How will the entire PS world be setup? Will every poly and texture be loaded into memory, or will the world be broken into segments and walking into a certain area will transport you to the proper area. (like walking from hyrule field into kokiri forest in Zelda64) I think loading everything at once will cause problems. think if you topped a hill and had a mile of landscape and forests and cities come into view. fps would drop to 0 quickly.

Q:  Will there be a guild standings page for wealth/weapons/number of members on the Planeshift Server site like there is for MB?

A: The world is broken up into sectors, with loading screens in between. The reason for this is that the devs would rather have one \'long\' loading time for each piece of the world, as opposed to lots of little loading bits which would cause the game to lag and be unresponsive.

Q: Will CB be the Alpha test or will the Devs skip alpha and call it Beta? I\'ve heard people saying both...

It\'s v0.3x/Crystal Blue ...  alpha is supposed to be a generally feature complete product that is largely untested, whereas beta is a generally complete product that has not been thoroughly tested.  Though CB is  a huge leap, I don\'t think it necessarily qualifies for either... that\'s why we have the nifty release names =].

Farplace clipping/distance culling/not-rendering-stuff-that-is-far-away is implemented now as well.  There is both a static distance setting and a somewhat working adaptive mode that changes the draw distance as needed.  Just need to add some dynamic fog at the cull point so it don\'t look so funny =P.

In another thread (house building idea) I\'ve been reading some stuff, and I would like to know if they are possible:

Can we build a house anywhere? (cause this way villages could by made by players too)

Are we going to be able to build anything at all?

Q1) There will be a decent updater? Easy to use with a good interface?

A1) It has 3 buttons. One called Update, one called Launch PlaneShift and one called Exit. - Gronomist

Q2) How often will there be updates? Aften? Once in 2 years? (I do hope every 2 weeks)

A2) Whenever new updates are ready. Can be daily, can be weekly. But for now, there wont be any 2 year waits. - Gronomist

Q3) Will the video options be in the main program?

A3) The video and audio options are currently in a seperate program. - Gronomist

Q4) Audio options? Controller options? Other options?

A4) You can set your controller options ingame as well as most of the other settings that are available, but most video and advanced sound options are in a seperate setup  program. - Gronomist

Q5) Minimum system req? Recommended Sys Req? Hardware for the very best performance?

A5) There is no minimum. It\'s very diffrent how it runs of diffrent machines, but an average computer should easily be able to run it. I get ~30-60 FPS with my P4 1.6GHz 512Ram computer, and that\'s even though CB is running in debug mode. - Gronomist

Q6) What will the next big update (release) be called?

A6) Still unknown, but the unofficial name is Sapphire Blue. That\'s not decided right now, anyway. - Gronomist

Q7) How much more enchanced is the AI (%)?

A7) We\'re still to test the NPCs, but as for what I know, it\'s much easier to add keywords to the NPCs dialogues, which will make them smarter.

Why exactly does a decent updater need a interface?

Q) anything sure about guildhouses? Like, will each \"important\"guild have an office or something, or is that for later when we can build our own homes?

So far we\'ve been told (correct me if I\'m wrong) that last names will have to be unique and can be changed only by GMs for \'wedding\' purposes. What about siblings/family members?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Well, afaIk, only the first name counts for charname uniquness, so only one Lynx. The lastname has just an estetic effect. But I don\'t know if it has to be unique.
