Multilanguage support?
« on: December 01, 2004, 10:55:09 am »
Hi all,

I was wondering if in this new release will be available the multilanguage support. I mean, only for the interface and the predefined messages.

It will be very possible for people to translate CB into any language they wish. The devs have made sure that doing this will be easy from now on. :)

That sounds good, because I could learn from the french translators\' experience.

But, BTW, the job done for mb or cb could be reused for the next releases?

There is already a czech and german translation in the CVS, but unfortunately you can\'t translate all texts in the game yet, only the basic ones.

There\'re plans to add more strings to the localization file? Must I wait to the next version to begin the translation?

Yup, CB is pretty much entirely different to MB, so it would be wise to save your time and efforts untill then. :)

I think it was Tangerine who said once that not everything is in the stringtables yet, but it is planned. I think the translation stuff has a quite low priority currently, so you will have to wait until release, if not longer.

Wow it never really hit me about how much diversity in cultures there are in ps.  Every one talks english so my natural instincts are that \"ok this guy knows english\" and nothing more.  I also realized that people who talk english here watch tv and movies in their own language.  Just somthing for you guys to think about i guess...
I know English and Armenian. Im armenian but isnce i live in the US I use english mostly. Tha would be pretty cool to have PS in different languages but it also creats a problem that was HUGE in Pristontale.  About half the community was from brazil so they likd to talk in their first language (naturally) which ended up splitting up the community by english speakers and people with the little _BR tag oin the end of their name.  This ended up in BR only clans, sections of maps that where litterd with BR people only, half the people in that crouded city speaking portrugese (SP?) as others spoke english, etc. It ended up creating the biggest split in a community I have ever seen.  The same may happen to PS and im sure we all wan\'t to stick togeather as one community instead of having german only guilds or spanish only guilds.
