People are reaql dumbasses. SOrry to say it but it had to be said. Like this parental advisory bs on cds.
Stupid lazy moms who didnt take the time to know what their kids where listening to slapped this on to make it easyer to get angry at their kids. If you dont like the music, dont listen. And this bs about gays being a bad influence. Banning books from librarys etc. THre people too! We should invent a gay making gun and make all the gay hater people gay. That\'ll teach em. And heres more. Gay marrige is not allowed in the US. WHY!!! WHo cares if gays get married or not! If you\'re not gay then how would effect you? That\'s right it doesnt! Damn leave these people alone. One more thing, racism. For the slightest comment people will call eachother racist. A gguy accused of my teacher being raqcist for calling on orintals when half the friggin class was korean!
To tell you the truth though, no one isnt racist until you dont see colors at all (in a mental way). Like the whole american slaves thing. A person not racist wouldnt see whites whipping blacks, they would see a man whipping another man and thats all.  Now, being ravcist as in seperating groups is commen in all of us, but thats not as bad.  The real bad thing is when people think a black man is a criminal for being black! WTF does being black have to do with anything at all? Im gonna tie a black man to me and go shop lifting. When the alarm goes off theyll grab him instead of me first. I garentee it.
Finally. The way people dress. Now im not all \"ganta\" but I do wear baggy jeans.  Security people will stare me down at school for what I wear but guess what. Im an A/B student, iv never smoked anything, and iv never been drunk.
So will these people stop being so retarded and fix how they are? No. You know why? There too stubborn to change the world for the better. Same goes with polution. Where all gonna die from global warming but does anyone care? NO! You know why? Their to lazy to get their asses up and trade in their huge Hummers for ecop friendly cars. Because they really need to take up one and a half lanes and get 9 miles to the gallon or they wont feel secure.
The whole world needs its ass kicked.

in one word, no. I rather liked james and the giant peach when I first saw it at age 6, I still like the animation and such now. Wow, kids nowadays must be true weaksauce, I have read most of those boks, and the adventures of huckleberry fin! what, that\'s an american classic, and of mice and men, catcher in the rye? I admit, some of those books may not be approprite for kids, like the joy of gay sex, I wouldn\'t want one of my kids reading that till they where much older than 8, but most of those are good books, and good reading at that, some more examples of good literature that are on the list: a wrinle in time, read the whole series by the time I was 9. To kill a mockingbird, read that by age 12, good literature. Lord of the Flies! I LOVE that book, then again I am weird, but it is still a good book. The adventures of tom sawyer? again, classic literature, need I say more? Kids need to read more I think, and saying classic literature is bad is not the way to go.
Warning: Prone to common sense.

Thats it I got it! These books disagree with laws of the US. Such as gay marrige, theft, nudism, sex, etc.
The librarys ban them because they\'re \"agaist the law\".
Screw that.
You guys should always stand up for what you belive in. Speaking of which. Ill make a thread thatll make you open your eyes a little. Hope to post it soon. Im in the middle of hw =/

Whoa, hold the phone a minute.  You all realise that this is a list of most frequently challenged books, not actually banned books, right?  Also, if you read the PDFs for 2000-2003, the main challenger is parents challening their kids school on the appropriateness of whatever books they\'re particulary concerned with.  Religious groups, other lobby groups and everyone else plays a very small part in the flood of challenges (although they possibly carry more weight)

In a society where you\'re not fully priveleged until the age of majority, parents have the right to choose what values they wish to teach their children.  Forcing one set of values through either mandatory public education or some other kind of \"thought control\" method (for instance, banning books to the general public) will lead to persecution of some kind, whether racial/anti-racial, religious or anti-religious, political, or otherwise.

There is probably no one person who would even want to ban half this list.  Saying \"People who think Harry Potter is evil are stupid and should die\" is pretty weak- but we all need to be free to make statements for and against.

Dude?  Sex is against the law in the US?  Wow :)

Seriously though, when it comes to public schools I think parents have every right to have their concerns heard and considered, especially in schools for younger children.

Well, I don\'t think parents have the right to control OUR lives.  We\'re old enough to make our own decisions, and nothing my parents say will stop me from reading \"The Necronomicon\" or \"The Goetic Spirits\".

The point I\'m trying to make is that the more parents try to control us, the more we will fight them.  We\'re gonna do whatever the hell we want, whether people say it\'s right or wrong.

Well keep in mind that the kids that do get turned loose by parents are 80% of the drug dealers and overall nobodies. Thats no lie. Most kids lack the understanding of any freedom and often let it go to waste by joining crime and indulging in every selfless urge they get. I\'m not ignorant, nor blind because I know the people, live with the people and see the people every day. It\'s not pretty when kids are just set loose by their parents. Without restraint the human mind turns to filth.

Yeah, you\'re pretty much right.

I\'m still gonna hate my parents, though.

And the government.

To the first part:
I think instead we should wrap rocks with paper, light them, and fling them at their houses.

I\'m working on it. These things take time, you know.

As to the book list:
it sucks. I mean, Cujo?! I loved that big rabid beast...\'Curses, Hexes, and Spells\' sounds a bit reasonable but I don\'t see how Where\'s Waldo made the list...

Yeah. My favourite one was in this book one of the pages had a castle fight going on. And there was hot soup being poured on guys on the ladders and guys being catapulted at the castle etc. etc.
I never did find Waldo there. Too distracted by the awesomeness.

lol

Maybe that\'s why the book is on the \"naughty\" list.

Maybe it\'s because the people who made that list were a bunch of tightwads that were beaten as children.
