lol america\'s main problem is its to.. \"americanistic\" O_O all this \"celebreity, reality tv, *crap* MTV (what happned? i mean \"newlyweds nick and jessica\" awwww versus the REAL mtv \"headbangers ball *back in the day*\" Beavis and butt-head and when you had no clue what was gonna be on mtv) and what the hell is \"rock\" nowadays? a big whinefest about how depressed or oppressed you are (even those the people get millions).. the whole country is going all \"yuppie happy smiley smiley lets not think bad thoughts hollywood is teh kewl :)\" or \"*C*Rap is teh shiz yo gangstaz 4 life homey\" \"We\'re bad-ass sk8rs with rich parents yet we act like we are from the street act like we are hard and act depressed dood! avril is kool!\" either way it sickens me XD

By the way.. hair metal needs to come back.. sure it was cheesy in the looks department but it was about getting chicks and breaking stuff and sticking to the \"man\"
the new \"rock\" is like \"Oh my feelings... my feelings have been hurt! *scream sing* YOU Hurt my feelings!! I Am So MAD!! *singing* So depressed and hurt by people.. i\'m misunderstood boo-hoo-hoo\" i mean come on join a therapy group or something don\'t drag your \"you where beat by your trailer-trash parents\" into rock and roll

I\'m glad I go to a school full of metalheads.

^_^

I have almost every single one of Roald Dahl\'s books.  Both me and my little brother read at least 90% of his books by the age of 8.  And, well, we\'re not homicidal maniacs (okay, I might be, but it\'s not his fault).

I\'m sorry if what I\'m about to say will offend anyone, I seriously am... but I have to say it.

I blame Christianity for almost every single \"soccer\" mom.

Yes, I said it.  Now, before you start flaming me, I AM a Christian... err.... sorta.... it\'s complicated and I\'m not gonna get into it.

Think about it, all of our parents nowadays seem to be \"born-again \'Christians\'\".  Think about it.
Night has come.  Will you fall to its blade?

Woulda edited my last post, but this is kinda  different subject.

I found another interesting page about challenged and banned books.

http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/challengedbanned/challengedbanned.htm#mfcb

In the 10 most challenged books for 2003, there were a couple that made no sense:

\"Bridge to Terabithia\" by Katherine Paterson, for offensive language and occult/satanism.

WTF?  I read Bridge to Terabithia when I was, like, 7 or 8.  I have the most Christian parents you could imagine, and yet they still bought me that book.  Me no thinky parents buy book if occultish.  I\'ve read the book a few times, I don\'t think it has ANYTHING to do with the occult/satanism.

And, BTW, I would KNOW if something was about the occult.  Trust me, I would.

I suppose the offensive language thing is verified... but, ya know what?  It\'s friggin realistic.

\"Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture\" by Michael A. Bellesiles, for inaccuracy.

Okay, I\'ve never read this book before, but... CHALLENGED FOR INACCURACY!?!?  HEY!  I got an idea!  Let\'s challenge the White House for THEIR inaccuracy!!

Maybe they\'ll even get banninated!!!

A few interesting statistics:

419 books were challenged because they had material ?promoting a religious viewpoint.?
1,256 to material considered ?unsuited to age group?

Wow, so many books about religion!  Hey, the Bible talks about religion!  LET\'S CHALLENGE IT!!!

wow, nice posts, someone should make a hydlaa plaza subforum dedicated to controversial threads, would be cool.

Edit: To earlier poster, I have read the bridge to terebithia also, great kids book, occult? satanism? more like people are mixing up dreaming and fantasy with withcraft.

Controversial threads?

Ohoohohohhh... I have got LOTS of those...

Mods would probably delete most of what I say, however...

They wouldn\'t have to delete most of what you say so long as you keep the cussing down :P

I do agree however, that there should be a subforum for controversial threads. I personally believe that nothing gets the blood pumping or the brain working like controversy, but i\'m weird, heheh.

That sounds good in theory, but it might be a little extreme. The best way to fix america is to cut the heads off the snakes causing the problems (kill all politicians).

I think every child should watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre at the age of 4.

Methinks that would benefit them greatly.

^_^

-grins- I concurr. Watching a movie where a guy got thrown into a vat of acid and had his skin melting off didn\'t do me any harm. So TCM would be like disney, only better. :D
