Mac OS Package!
« on: January 07, 2005, 09:28:50 am »
... is not working.

EDIT: Current status, Feb 23, 2005:
Seems to be some current problems that many people are having with the latest update (crash during the loading of the world). We\'ll look into this...

Note that the forums now have a Mac area!  Feel free to discuss problems there, but also read about other problems that people are having, since some of them will be common to all platforms.

Thanks,
Daniel

just finnished dowloading ps, and after the install, put a copy of resources in usr/local/lib as per dfryer\'s post.

Planeshift starts but quits just after the intro music and says an unexpected error occurred.
:(

Edit: Just noticed a few things,

* when you try to run the updater not a lot happens, it checks the file and seems to be downloading the registry xml, but then nothing else happens.

* when cb starts up it says its 3.0.0.4 - when it says 3.0.0.5 on the downloads page.... weird

I can\'t even find /usr/local/lib to put it in... If I was using Linux, it would be easy!  Can I get some help with that, please?  Also, is this supposed to fix the fact that it crashes right after the music every time?

Ok, I was having the same trouble as you guys, it\'s apparently not the Resource folder that you should put in /usr/local/lib, but the file \"libcal3d.10.dylib\" inside the Resource folder.

To get to the /usr/local/lib, go to the Finder, and under go select \"Go to folder...\", then type in \"/usr/local/lib\".  You might have to type in \"/usr/local\" and then create a \"lib\" folder like I did (which worked), or you might be able to just dump it in the \"lib\" file in /usr (just speculating, I haven\'t tried it yet).

Let me know if you all still are having trouble, doing this I managed to get the game up and running.

Also, I just want to thank the developers for remembering us Mac users that often get left out.

You will probably have to re-create your account if you were part of the beta testing effort.  Either that or contact one of the admins, but be sure to read the help areas of the forums first.

I should be able to put fixed files in the updater by later today, so you all will have a chance to test the updater (which will probably want to redownload a lot anyway)

Good luck!

Thanks for your patience,
Daniel

Could be the time of day, I was getting an FPS in the 20\'s and 30\'s in the main plaza earlier (now I\'m getting them from between 2-10).  Also, trying checking out less populated areas, that seems to really improve the frame rate (I was getting it in the 40\'s in the untextured dungeon of death under the temple).

Select \"PSClient\" and click on the asterix-like button at the top of the window, and in the pull down menu select \"Show Package Contents\".  The file is in the \"Resource\" folder.

Ok, here\'s my problems:

1) When I run the updater, it fetches the repository file, but doesn\'t do anything after that. I\'m assuming that it would have had stuff to update by now.

2) According the the guide, I should have an app called \"pssetup\", but I don\'t

Other then that, I\'m fine. :) Good job dfryer! :D
