Sets of weapons and clearer stats
« on: February 17, 2005, 06:45:15 pm »
I have 2 sugestions that may gather both supporters and non-supporters :P

- Sets of weapons

There could be sets of weapons wich the player could configure to maximize their fighting skills or as an alternate form of attack/defense... It\'s much like sets in Diablo II.

Example:
Set 1 - (I would use it for ranged attacks)
A bow and a quiver of arrows

Set 2 - (I would use it for close combat)
Two swords or a sword and a shield

Set 0 - (Used for non agressive stances)
You wouldn\'t be using/carrying in your hands none of your weapons

You could toggle both sets by pressing buttons 1 and 2 (for example). There should be of course a non attack/defense delay with this, like 2 seconds of inactivity (simulate weapon exchange) that could even change according to the weapons and skills...

This would increase both playing (easier to change a fight\'s course, turning it interresting to both players) and realistic (every warrior has a couple of weapons) parametres of the game...

The actual equip mechanism is too slow to be used in a combat situation

- Clearer stats

You really can\'t tell anything by looking at stats...

HP, Mana, Fatigue and Experience stats have on their right side a XX% value. This is better expressed by the graphics bar... I would prefer to see a XX/Total (X points o Total Y)

The PP value should have on it\'s right the total of PP that you have already earned... XX/Total (you have X prog points of The total points you have gathered)
This could be used to better acert one\'s level (whatever that means)

The selected npc/player bar should show is level or his total HP, or both of them...
That way you could have an idea on one\'s power (you shouldn\'t be able to fully know it, because you wouldn\'t know how he used is PP to train his skills...)

These are just some ideas that i think that would improve this already great game...

Thanks for the chance of participate in this project...

You might try creating a shortcut for this. (Can a shortcut execute multiple commands? I haven\'t tried that.) Wouldn\'t work for Set 0, though, \'cause /dequip needs to know what item you\'re /dequiping. OTOH, that\'s less urgent, so you can afford the time to do it by hand.

Your Skills window shows HP, Manna and Fatigue as absolute values. I don\'t really see a need (beyond curiosity) to display lifetime-earned PP; AFAICT, PlaneShift doesn\'t have the concept of \"whole-character\" levels, just individual skill levels.

I agree, though, that it would be nice to be able to assess an opponent by some means other than \"Can he send me to Death Realm before I do any damage to him?\" 8o

none of these sugestions are urgent, of course...just wishes that I would like to see implemented and think would improve gaming experience...

i don\'t think that any of this sugestions are difficult to implement..
For Set 0:
Your client knows what you have equiped, so you could preform a /dequip \"thing\" until no weapons left...
For other sets:
use /dequip plus equip with necessarie for that set...

as for the CLEARER STATS, that was just MHO... but i think that it would benfit the player

thanks for the reply
thnx moogie for moving the post...didn\'t know where to put it :P

I tested this last night; it (mostly) works.
Code: [Select]
/dequip rock pick
/equip 1 battle axe
/equip 1 round metal shield
works fine. This doesn\'t quite work, however:
Code: [Select]
/dequip battle axe
/dequip round metal shield
/equip rock pick

I can only dequip one item at a time. I think this may be a known bug (I haven\'t checked yet) so this trick should work eventually...  :P

Is that how it works in real life? Can you really know who will win a fight?

You can\'t know who\'ll win, but you can estimate your chances and whether you should run or stand your ground.

   Set Items.

Well plane shift could have set items that are REALLY hard to find and when you get the whole set they become better and WAY good.

I know they have this in Diablo2. But still i think it would be a good thing to have.

 :D

Well you did mention diablo2, but my idea is a little bit different from yours...

take a better look... I didn\'t talk about unique sets or rare sets (like diablo)

I said it could be nice to change your set of weapons quickly like you did on diablo2... i think the shortcut was \'w\' and you changed from \"two handed axe\" to a \"sword and shield\"...

but i agree with you... items are all equal...there could be some changes even between the type of weapon...and i also think that you should know what kind of damage it deals, how much slower it is, how much does your armor absorb...

i as well believe this to be a good idea(have multiple sets of weapons equiped and be able to switch between them on the fly) however i doubt it would be implemented anytime soon and am glad of it as there are other things i would like to see first

Soulless:make sure you read the thread carefully before posting youve done this before...(and bringing in fairness? i mean come on thats just childish)
