I do research mathematics and I use an Apple laptop. It has tons of good, free mathematical software that is only available on Unix, Linux and Mac OS X. Further, the Linux core makes it easy to write and install new software. Further still, it\'s reliable when I\'m doing heavy computations and doesn\'t crash if I screw up and cause a memory leak. And further still, making cool animations of some of my research is incredibly easy on a Mac.
Much of this is much more difficult on a PC, as the OS is less stable and efficient, and certainly much less configurable.
Thus I prefer the Mac/Unix marriage. Just defending a good OS and not telling you you\'re wrong, but maybe you\'re a bit under-informed.
Case and point.
Buddha is able to clearly explain how Mac/Unix is beneficial to his studies in math. As you can see his is not bragging about bright colors, spinning textures, and other cool dohikies. And thus, hed DOES NOT look like an idiot.
From what I\'ve noticed, this is how computer users seem to panout now-a-days.
* Using comp to check news and read email - Mac
* Using comp to check news, read emal, and play games - Windows.
* Has good understanding of a computer, but is not a \"profesional\" - Customized Windows (Changed browser, player, privicy settings, system programms, and other files to own preferences.)
* Needs a computer to perform specific tasks (like Buddha) - Mac
* L33T Haxxor (figurativly speaking) - Unix
