Two different ways of doing things I guess. Though what do you do if you meet someone who is going the other way or who is not planing on moveing very far? Both far more common occurances for me.

It wasn\'t a petition, it was a request for a lot of people to simply post their email for a seemingly stupid cause. If you don\'t like what is in PS, you have a problem. You don\'t have to share this problem with everyone else, but if you choose to do so, make a discussion about it. Put up some valid arguements about why it is a bad idea. Making a threads where you want people to say \"I AGREE\" is -bad-, and I will keep deleting them.

I would like to see (if it is not already implemented) food and drink restore a little bit of it as eating/drinking a little bit always makes me feel a little better when I\'m tired.

Exacltly.. besides how will you know how long your klyros can fly? He/She can fly as long as they have stamina.. plus in real life can you fight 500 times in a row without rest? OF COURSE NOT XD

(also we need to adress this.. why dont diaboli have wings? its completely practical.. also if they are gonna have the holy weapon weakness like demons they should get thier wings as well :/ )

@ Socrates Demise: This isn\'t really that much of an option, now is it? After all, there might be good reasons (even IC ones) to not have ridiculously high END.

Seytra: This seems to me to be the only option.  If the Charactor does not have the stamina to run all teh way to Ojv.  then they won\'t be able to.  In real life if you find you cannot do something you want ot be able to do you have to train to do it.  The same is true in this game.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious.
I totally noticed that this is the only option as things stand now. However, I\'m asking for a change to things.
I don\'t deny that stamina is realistic. And I even see validity in it\'s presence. However, I think that it would be detrimental to implement it 100% realisticly. Just like death, perfect realism would make the game frustrating.
However, maybe I\'m just accustomed to running, and it is more realistic to have distances take long to cover.

However, I don\'t think that my END of 42 is that low. After all, Enkis INT is 40 by average. Yet, I haven\'t met one Enki that was being RP\'d to be dumb, while I\'ve seen at least one Kran who was RP\'d that way, despite that Kran have 45 INT on average. Not even Enki NPCs are in any way dumber than their non-Enki collegues. So if 42 END is low, then shouldn\'t 40 INT be just as low?

@ Hatchnet: Of course this will make me stop and chat for a while. However, as of yet, this has happened almost exclusively at either source or destination of my travels, and rarely inbetween, so that there isn\'t any need for regeneration anyway. Maybe this\'ll change in the long run.

I like Necronomium\'s idea from this thread, which should really be just a minor change to the current implementation, which already depends on carried load.

Well this is where you need to think of this as a whole.. if you dont have enough stamine you would get a tame to carry you (if it can be ridden) or buy a horse or other beast of burden *later implementation* just like in real life.. can i walk from Dallas to Houston? of course not.. thats why i have a car :P

Also wouldnt beasts of burden or tames have stamina as well? (much more then thier master usualy but you still cant ride an animal nonsop... hence the early term \"oh its about a 3 stop horse trip\" stops being about 12 hours if you went non-stop with the exeption of letting the animal rest)

If we\'re discussing how to make the idea better, while keeping it realistic, I have a couple comments.

First, if you\'re near death, and engaged in combat (can the server tell if you\'re engaged?), you should get a boost in stamina. This reaction happens IRL when you have the fight or flight reaction. (You can fight a little longer, or run away if need be...)

It might be suggested to have a trainable skill called running or cardio, but I think you could do this by training endurance. Basically figure out some set of rules that train your endurance - the most realistic would be running for long periods of time at low stamina. (Cardiovascular excercise is generally defined as anything that gets your heart pumping at a higher rate for more than 20 minutes - or five minutes in-game.) Theoretical knowledge from your master would include form, and breathing techniques - it is also realistic in that someone who runs a lot, really can fight longer (these two aren\'t mutually exclusive IRL).

Going with the idea of collapsing like stats - why do we have both mental endurance and mana? I can see how realistically they are two different things, but in practice, is it nessacary to have two stats?

I suppose some mental activities like practicing a trade would use mental endurance, but not mana, but again, it seems like you could collapse the two. Maybe get rid of mana all together and make PS more unique? (Especially since they are based on the same exact stats [int, will, char] if I\'m not mistaken.)

It seems like it could work, and it almost makes life easier for the settings team when explaining what each of these stats are.... I guess it all comes down to how attached the community is to the concept of mana.

Comments?

P.S. That\'d be a great job for people like the Explorers! They could buy a jinriksha and sell tours of the city and rides to Ojaveda! :P We already have models of carts - how hard is it to shrink them a little and put in a seat? ^^
