Weaker rats, and klyros stuff...
« on: March 27, 2005, 01:21:06 am »
Well... I have been playing the game for about three days, and by suggestion of a friend, I have come to suggest that the rats in the sewars, which are supposed to be weak so newbies can kill em, be weaker. I walk through the sewars looking for rats, and often get killed by them. I normally do about 1 damage, and rats 2! I have even seen a rat that beat the hell out of me. It was doing five damage each hit. Maybe there should also be more rats in the sewars, since it takes sooo long to find them. And about the Klyros... I am one of them, and I constantly get stuck through every door there is. Some doors, I spend like 5 minutes trying to get through. Today, I went to the tavern and went upstairs, but then I couldn\'t go back down the steps because I wouldn\'t fit! I had to jump off the dang balcony on the second floor, and lost 40% percent of my life. I was told this was because of the wings, and I seriosuly think it should be fixed.

Well the door thing I belive the devs are working on.

The rats on the other hand are a different story. While I do think there should be more rats in the sewers (this will probably be necesary after the wipe) they should not be made any weaker. I instead; have a suggestion for you: Get someone else to go with you to help you kill the rats; this is a mmorpg after all.

There are rats that are stronger than others. Simply avoid the strong ones and you\'ll be fine. Furthermore, the Klyros wing / other races height glitches are _very_ well known, so don\'t report them.

Indeed more weaker rats should be added!
I\'m tired of seeing new people getting killed by rats! How embarassing is that?!
Of course there should be stronger rats, but, there should be even more weaker rats.
It\'s dificult to earn money in PS, specially for newbs! NOw if they team up, the loot is divided! They will take forever to buy a sword, axe or pick!!! I really hope the devs put weaker rats, at least rats that hit with the same damage that newbs usually do, like 0.50 or something like that!
I\'m really mad at this! How come rats are stronger than newbs?!
People say \"team up with some buddies\" but I once saw 2 or 3 guys teamed up and on the 2nd rat they were all dead!!! How is that possible?! And as I said before having to divide the loot will make almost impossible to get \"some\" money!
I hope you understand this.

Im a klyros too and had the exactly same problem, usually unstick helps, but not in there.. and there should be some monsters that you could just kill withoutworrying, but they would give you 5 exp and every fifth of them would give a tria or so

Necronomium, you didn\'t understand. It should stay as it is, but with more and weaker rats that hit with like 0.50 or something like that.
It\'s really hard to earn money in Yliakum (at least right now) and ppl have to group and divide the loot will take forever before they can get some train and tools for whatever thay want to do!

EDIT: made an experience with an alt and checked in defensive mode... still die. But can kill 1 weaker rat, but only found one.

I think the devs know about the Klyros problems, A nice thing would be making their wings er... mmm... what\'s the word... like a ghost? walk through wals and all that since Klyros can\'t keep them close to their body...

I really don\'t see the problem. I know that there are about the same number of easy rats as there are hard ones. And, depending on your starting stats / skills, a sword won\'t get you further than melee. :) I am lvl 7 sword and just noticed that I can kill just as well / badly with my melee at lvl 0 than with the (now vanished) claymore. So there goes. ;)

On the note of earning money, I think fighting shouldn\'t be the best option, and it should definitely not be the way for newbies. In fact, I think that newbies should start off mining, and through that earn the money to eventually train fighting and buy weapons!

Therefore, I think that it should be a matter of completing one single quest (or part of solving it) to attain mining knowledge.

My idea would be for \'quist to assign the gold quest, but hand out a pickaxe along with it. If the char doesn\'t have mining skill, it should still be possible to mine, but obviously it\'ll take loooong to find the gold. Therefore, they should dig for coal first, which should be easier to find. They could thereby give \'quist a reason to give them training in exchange (cheaper than usual until they reach lvl 1). Also, the reward should be the pickaxe and some extra money.
Now they have something to start with, without being given a free ride.

Cut \'em off I say! :P
Seriously, they should be able to either fold them up more tightly or at least stretch them straight backwards so that they can go through the doors. Lacking an animation and option for it, the ghosting option seems like a reasonable temporary fix (swords poking through walls already!). In fact, we should have the same thing for \"ducking\" until people can duck so that everyone can go through the doors.

About making money, I think all newbs should start in like a \"tutorial realm\" or sumthing like that. They get trained in all the implemented skills and get a free pick, maybe a bad weapon like a damaged dagger or sumthing so that they can kill rats more easily, and 100-250 tria. That way it would be easier for newbs to make money.

In MB you could use creation points to start off with extra tria or a weapon/magic item.

It\'s ok now... the rat spawns in the sewers are fixed, there are much more rats now... at least fo a while.
Tested them with a non-trained dwarf char in defensive mode and well, died when I killed the 3rd but I think that one was stronger...

Nice idea, I like it... people would get out of there knowing the basic, a bit skilled and with some money. They could have some er... magic orb arouns them explaining \"To attack do this and that, then loot by doing this, that and this\" but we have the players guide... which is great btw, needs an update though.
But for now PS has the Sewers, which is a good place to start.

Yes I remember, the \"Rich\" and \"Very Rich\" options, although it didn\'t work that time. CB should have something like that too. Like if our parents were famous we would start with, er... 1 circle (250 trias) from each? If only one was famous we would start with 250 trias.
