Ideas for 3d models...
« on: April 11, 2005, 02:53:23 pm »
Heya people, I\'ve decided to get back into 3d modelling after taking a break of about 8 months. Problem is I havn\'t been inspired as of yet to do anything so could someone please enlighten me with some fresh ideas?

I will accept almost anything, fantasy/PS related of course, I don\'t want to model firearms, robots etc, and would love to spend some time modelling some of your ideas so I can show it to you all. So feel free to dish out whatever your imagination can concoct.

Oh and i\'m no pro and I also can\'t texture things well or at all in some cases, im still trying to learn how.

Cheers,
  Pain

You should take a look at some of Cherppow\'s \"simple\" drawings.  Those would make excellent subjects, with his permission of course.

Can\'t wait to see some of the stuff you turn out.

Emaib- Haha sounds like some fun it would be a strange yet interesting little project to design something like that :) Of course as you said we would need to discuss what it looks like.

ArcaneFalcon- I\'m just looking at his drawings now and he has alot of things that I could try to model, with permission of course, but i\'ll wait to see what else turns up here before deciding.

Cheers,

If you just want inspiration for items / worldly things to draw - go through some old roleplay books or fantasy art. It\'s amazing how many things I wanted to make after just 30 minutes of reading some of my old, old RPG books :D.

Hmm, how about some medieval items for general use? Like a spinning wheel, maybe? These would be nice to enrich the ambient a bit.

Well I had a crack at the spinning wheel and it ended up like this:

Also I did this sword because I didnt really have anything else to do:

These are not textured because I can\'t texture yet. The Spinning wheel was only textured a little because the spokes on it were all planes.

The spinning wheel is 384 polys (i could make it less by getting rid of chamfer and bevels.) And the sword is 1376 because i wasnt modelling game wise i was just screwing around when making it.

Spinning wheel is great, why show up some more fanart and try to get in PS dev team. We are less on artists.

The #1 thing PS requires to join is devotion. I think you have it. Now if you can make that spinning wheel  you can model other things like it,
so contact the depart leader of artists section and ask him to give a simple task at hand, also show him what you just made.

I would recommend making a few more models and texturing them so that you have a few things to show them.  It\'s kind of hard to see how good an artist is based on one uncomplete piece of art.  But DivineLight is right, the #1 thing you need is devotion.  If you don\'t quit you\'re bound to be an asset at some point.
