a couple of things...
« on: June 02, 2005, 05:14:15 am »
I apologize for posting this first part here, but the link to the sourceforge feature request returns a \" permission denied \" page. Anyway, just playing the game for a few minutes i noticed that there are few things that could sort of smooth out the experiance.

First the combat, i think that if i cast an offensive spell on a mob that it should cast, as opposed to having to initiate combat first. Its just kinda cumbersome to press Ctrl+a, wait for combat to start, then press the spell button to attack... couldnt you just target and attack?
Second, the shop interface, (perhaps i\'m unaware of the command) Its just more effective to have a right-click or something on an inventory item to sell to a merchant NPC. More often than not i\'m going to be selling an item out of inventory with the shop menu open than having it destroyed, appraised, ect. (a way to configure context right or double-clicks?)
Third, (apologies if this already exists), are there plans to include remappable controls, chat color changing, or multiple single channel chat windows?
Fourth, i\'d like to see a display, maybe that is optional, that includes the level of the mob you are looking at, maybe under the name or something... perhaps as a skill like Awareness. PC Lvls should be an optional display too.

As for content i think any class/race should be able to purchase a non-attacking chicken. It would just kinda follow you around, but there would be a race specific ability to it, like an orc will eat it for a health bonus, or a human can throw its eggs at things...

Check your option window. You can configure control settings and colors there.

I don\'t know about you but I can cast any offensive spells without having to engage in combat first, unless you are talking about attacking other players. Duels require accepting from both parties and I hope it stays that way so this includes magic. The only requirement is the distance you are away. Some spells only work in close proximity while others work from further away.

In a RPing concept .. offensive magic in Yliakum is of that nature that it can only be cast at individuals that mean you harm.

The shopping interface as well as most interfaces in the game are far from perfected yet. They work at the moment but I \'m sure they will be tweeked to be much more user friendly in the future.

The options menu lets you change every control and interfaces along with chat text colors.

What you are asking for to show levels of players or mobs is something that won\'t happen. It \'s been discussed a lot before. Planeshift doesn\'t work with levels so players have no levels, only skills. For realistic reasons you won\'t ever get to see a level of a monster directly, but you can get a description of any monster already. So far it will only give you a name, which already gives hints at it\'s strength. So is a \"rat\" less strong than a \"vicious rat\". This is also how it is likely going to be in the future. When you look at a creature you will get a description of it and perhaps something saying \"you will likely win a fight with this Tefusang\" or \"Going up against this Ulbernaut is pure suicide\". But there won\'t be any levels, it will be a bit more intuitive information.

I won\'t say much on those last suggestions besides from please at least play the game and read about it a bit before suggesting things that have no place here. First of all there are no orcs and second of all there won\'t be any default animals like chickens, horses, cows, ... as pets. Dev\'s order.
