Exotic Location And Dungeons Request Thread
« on: June 25, 2005, 01:23:36 am »
Since there was no thread like this, I just made this so all PS players can post their ideas about Dungeons, and Exotics location they liked to see, Post here and display this when posting:

(Such as Forest Dungeon, Water dungeon, Breen Desert.. ect.)
(where is it?)
(The information)

Heres some areas I liked to see in the game for myself.

-Sleeping Forest-
Type: Dungeon Forest
Location: somewhere near the forest area after you leave Yalkium
Description: The sleeping forest should be a place of Tranquility, such as players who want to take off sometime and chat with some buddies or lovers. The Should be a Temple there like a -Sleeping Temple-, where there will be FOrest-based-Monster NPCs to train on.

-Ruins of the Talad Temple- (I did read the story about Laanx and Talad, I think they didn\'t mention about a Talad Temple)
Type: Just like the Laanx Temple
Location: Outskirts of Yalkium
Description: THis temple was before a place to worship Talad long ago, but is now in Ruins, and there has been sighting of dangerous monsters lurking, but the sightings include vast beauty of neatly crafted walls and huge stone treasures, and it is rumours that of a powerful god-like creature gaurding a room where it is believe to Hold precious treasure

_Hope you like them, plz comment*

I like the spleeping forest place, that sounds like it could be pretty cool.

What I would like to see is a mining town (and the other sections of ojaveda :P and the towns that the npcs talk about in the area around the library)

Name: Stonebreaker Mines
Type: Dwarven Mining Camp
Location: Far in the hills of Ojaroad
Descripton: Deep in the hills of Ojaroad, Dwarves have set up a mining camp. They have found many types of ores and other treasures there, such as gold, platinum, coal, rubies, and diamonds. In the hills there are long, deep tunnels with a variedy of ores and monsters in them. Some tunnels have been closed off due to some monsters that took over. There could be quests for slaying those monsters and cleaning out the tunnel.

PS: There actually was a thread for suggesting cities. but it was pretty old...

Name: Lifts between levels
Type: can vary from level to level.
Location: in between each pair of adjacent levels
Description: I would like to see a working set of lifts the go between the levels. Players could pay to get on the lifts, and they would lift the player up or lower them down to the next level. The lift between level 6 and 7 could be interesting with a view of the water level over the 8th level nearly rising to the rim of the 7th. Each lift should have a background skybox view of the entire rim and should be able to faintly see the other side of the level they are on across the gap in the middle.
---------
Name: Bandit Hideout in Caves
Type: dark caves with stockpiled stolen goods and weapons
Location: somewhere in the caves past the big bronze doors
Description: A relatively small series of caves where a gang of bandits has hidden out in. Should include mostly dark caves with sparsely placed lamp light. Also various boxes and stockpiles of stolen goods and weapons should be strewn everywhere, partially organized. Guards should be patrolling the caves with lamps that emit dynamic light, and there should be a main chamber room where the leader of the bandits resides guarded by some bodyguard bandits. It should have slightly mismatched stolen rugs and nice chairs and things stolen from rich nobles but not really matching each other, and a couple of chests that spawn past the bandit leader with really good loot. It might also be possible, but difficult, for a player to use stealth throughout the caves and steal all the treasure without fighting at all. Guards should be placed far enough apart that, should you need to fight one or two, you could conceivably kill them before they run and get others to help.
---------
Floating Nothril Acadamy
Type: Northril Architecture
Location: Floating in the water over the 8th level
Description: This is a location described in one of my stories in the roleplaying section. It is an military/guard academy for Northril which floats on top of the water over the submerged 8th level. Some of the lower chambers are beneath the surface, and the lowest chambers are flooded. The entire structure it constructed mostly of massive plants that have been manipulated through magic to grow into large, useful structures. It is comprised of several connected chambers, bulbs of the plant, connected to each other by clear glass-like crystal tubes. The structure is like a small city, with various high level trainers and sparring partners to practice with, and training supply merchants. Lots of fun quests to do as well as the academy frequently provides mercenary/temporary guard services for various places, so the quests often will have you traveling around a lot.
---------
Name: Temple of the Forsaken Goddess
Type: creepy underwater temple ruins
Location: Edge of the 7th level and bottom of 8th
Description: Also a location that will be described in one of my stories in the roleplaying section. A small percentage of the early nothril settlers worshiped a dark goddess that was banished and stripped of her powers on the surface world. She became known as the forsaken goddess, as her real name was lost long ago. Though she disappeared shortly after her banishment from the surface world, some of the early Nothril settlers still worshiped her, mostly out of fear, for she was a terrible and cruel goddess. A temple was built on the lip of the 7th level. Eventually, however, she was all but forgotten, and her temple went to ruin. An earthquake eventually broke off a portion of the temple which sank to the bottom of the 8th level. The temple has creepy, angular architecture with very old dried blood stains on the walls. It has become overgrown and is full of aggressive wildlife that has made the temple their home. Part of the temple is submerged underwater at the bottom of the 8th level, which contains various specters that seem to be guarding it.
--------
Name: Dwarven Forge and Mine
Type: dwarven city in caves beyond the bronze doors and a set of mines connected to it
Location: in the caves somewhere past the bronze doors
Description: pretty stereotypical dwarven location containing a large forge and semi-industrial machinery, though simple and low tech. The city is connected to a series of mines where players can practice their mining abilities, and quests to go into monster infested sections of the mines to clear out monsters, etc.. Should have dwarves pushing carts of ore up and down tracks leading into the forge area, which should have all sorts of stone cutting equipment. Should be able to purchase some nice equipment there at a discount price, direct from the maker. There should also be some high level mining and weapon/armor making trainers there.
---------
Name: Peaceful Farms
Type: Farm area
location: 1st level near yalkium
Description: Peaceful low level farming area just as you leave the forest path into the hilly area. Should contain some non-aggressive NPC monsters for newbies to practice with, and a number of simple quests that you can do repeatedly, such as harvest various crops and bring them back to the farmer for a little bit of tria. Crops will spawn in the fields at regular intervals so you can just go and pick them up and bring them back. Various livestock on the farm too, in pens and buildings and lots of rats, snakes, and small insects that you can kill for experience and quests.
--------
I have more but I\'m hungry so I\'ll type them all later.

Name: Lava Stream(s)
Type: Cavernous region with lava flow in streams
Location: Caves beyond bronze doors
Description: This is basically an area where lava flows in streams. Should have lots of fire based enemies and one large magical creature that is sortof a cross between a large lizard and a mole. It lives on a large mound of treasure and gems which it collects. The area should be full of precious gems and crystals and fire-based runes that players can use in alchemy and other tradeskills.

The very last paragraph is about a Talad temple:
Quote
From the settings page
Talad was worshipped and welcome in the whole of Yliakum; therefore there were statues, representations and places consecrated to him everywhere. But never before that moment had Talad thought to build a temple or to encourage his followers to build one. When the Xacha began to build the temple to Laanx, Talad felt control of his people\'s hearts slipping away. Many of his people, curious and charmed by Galeran\'s power, began to workship Laanx and to forget what Talad had made for them. Talad retired to meditate and, with the power of his glyphs, to plan the most majestic fortress ever built, a building that would show the power of the glyphs and the strength of the stone, the element from which the Kran were created. After years of meditation, Talad created a tremendous wave of heat that melted the secular rock of the walls of the first level and molded this rock in the name of his chosen people. As it cooled, the wall formed a plethora of drawings and arabesques interspersed with shimmering crystals. These crystals still glow, illuminating the Temple with their light, showing the power of Talad.

As for the temple in the sleeping forest:
It should not be a temple, because what reason and god would be there? If anything, it could be some sort of nice, mostly open, building that has been put there to provide a place for those who wish to be close to but not entirely in the wilderness. It should have some sort of \"garden\" at one or two sides (the other sides going directly into the forest). The \"garden\" would be a part of the forest which has been altered a bit to allow strolling and such.
Also, why should there be monsters to train on? It is supposed to be a pecaeful place, so if anything, there should be peaceful and harmless wildlife only.

Edit:
I have an idea for a location as well:

Basically a small island that is floating inside a lake. The speciality of this island is that it has a large spring in it\'s center, which feeds a small river that flows from the spring into the surrounding lake. The vegetation consists of herbs, bushes and a few, scattered trees. The island itself is ~1km in diameter and the only settlement is a wooden hut, in which a wise person (not necessarily a healer) lives, possibly having one or two disciples.
The island\'s position in the lake would vary often, because it is carried around by streams in the lake. It would contain only small animals, because larger ones won\'t find enough food due to the limited size, so the food here would be mostly plants and fish.

The inhabitant could be a source of quests and advanced training in some areas.

The island can work like this:
It consists of porous rock that has relatively big caverns which are sealed from the surrounding water. That makes the island lighter than water so it floats.
The light of the crystal warms the rock, and with it the water in the cracks in it, making it rise to the surface, forming the spring. Since the heat is stored in the rock, the spring will not cease to run even in case of a crystal eclipse, unless it\'s duration exceeds some days. In that case, it will resume operation after a preheat period of a week.

New maps....
« Reply #6 on: June 26, 2005, 04:05:26 am »
Heres some more things I would add--->

-The Great Tree of the Azure Crystal-
Type: Forest Area/Dungeon/City
Location: Somewhere among the plains
Info: For many years there was a place where a small tree fed from the nutrient of a shard of a Azure Crystal, and as many might have guest it, it grew ALOT. THe Tree is now somewhat a renewable energy/food source. Where villagers all around it feed on it bark and founded \"some\" way to conduct energy from the Tree. THe Bark, is tasy and nutrious and makes wounds heal faster, but is expensive

-Grave of the Damned-
Type: Cemetary Dungeon
Location: Far, Far, Far, Away
Info: This is where the onof the toughest baddies (NPCs Monsters) come, a newbie would survive even a hit of those creatures there, the grave is filled with a poisonous stench (which decreases ur life every .1 per second) and has Tombs and Graves waiting to be discovered, holding... valuable Treasures

Name: Crystal Caverns
Type: Cave/dungeon
Location: A small dangerous path leading up into the walls of the hollow stalagtite with jagged rocks and steep cliffs, that could cost any careless traveler\'s life, leads you up high into the proximity of the Azure Sun. At the end of it the path disappears into the walls of the stalagtite and leads you into a dark cavern. Only those with a torch or nightvision have a chance to find their way in or out of this maze of tunnels leading deep into the earth. There are many dead ends, bottomless pits, unfriendly cavedwellers, ... If you have found the right turn it will lead you to a submerged part going down steeply, only to go up minutes later. While you swim through the underwater tunnel, hoping for enough breath to make it, you can see the walls changing. They don\'t look like plain rock anymore but take the shape of crystals, slowly replacing the rock. After a while you go back up you see light and emerge in a large hollow cavern. The entire cavern is lit by firefly like creatures flying around, tiny harmless bugs with the same basis of life as Kran have. They are made out of fluorescent crystal and light up the entire cavern. Where you can now see all manners of magnificent shapes and colors. In the middle of the hollow space there is the small lake, you came out of with a gigantic quartzshaped crystal rising up from the middle, reflecting the light of the tiny creatures. For the rest the entire walls are made out of crystal with many shapes sticking out of the sides, roof or ground which create many natural corners and hidden places.

Inside that cavern lives one ancient Kran who has actually mastered the arts of magic, more specifically the crystal and blue way. He posseses knowledge and glyphs no other being has and only accepts a few apprentices every so often.

Me! :D :P

Got a location too:

Location: From the 4th to the 5th level
Type: Underground tunnels
Description:
It is said that these tunnels were made by some Kran size insects, some say they hide when someone approaches their colony, others say that these insects are now extinct, although no one who got out alive of these tunnels said that no giant insect lived there.
Although no giant insects were there, other creatures made the tunnels their new home.
Strangely these tunnels seem to be made by inteligent beings, it\'s very well made, resists to earthquakes, has some weird glowing something that iluminates the tunnels and produces heat. No one has ever known what it is because whatever touches it is burned imidiatly.
There\'s a perfect sphere with exactly 5km of radious right in the center of it (once again it seems like it was made by inteligent beings and that everything was planed first), it has a huge garden on the ground with a pond and tree size fungous, it has platforms from 1 to 1 km (verticaly).

i don\'t know why but i seem to have a fasination about mines
and monsters who took over, but more people seem to have that so here is something differient:

name: the edge
type: the last city before the stone labyrinths.
location: at the edge of the stone labyrints, on the highest level.( thats where they are right?)
discription: this city is home to all kinds of creatures, humans first made this city as a basecamp for journeys to the labyrints. later other creatures came to find their tresures in the labyrinths, but there are also beings that nobody has every heard of. people believe that they came from the surface, in their search for ores and tresures. but they hardly speak, and only to a few persons. it\'s a city with shops of food, armor, weapons, everything you need to go out on adventure, to the STONE LABYRINTHS!

i really like these ideas, and get exited, but how many devs has ps really? i mean, this will never come, at least not until all bugs are fixed and work can be done at expanding the game...

if you have really cool photoshop tutorials don\'t be afraid to pm me!

You \'re right that we probably won\'t see any of these soon and I doubt we \'ll see even half of them at all but this is a wish list and I like the idea.

Besides even if it takes a few years, wouldn\'t it be nice to walk into a place you thought of, one day? :D

I got one!

Name: Inferal Gourge
Type: Volcanic
Description: Once, this wasteland was one of the libraries of the red way. At it\'s peak it was filled with thousands of scrolls and tomes, during this period however, a large group of mages discovered a spell that in large numbers would allow them to discover for themselves the true nature of chaos and fire. However, as they got into the final stage of the spell, a surge from the Crystal caused the spell to overload and destroy everyone and everything in the area in a horrific inferno.

It\'s a place of sand where the ennemies arent really aggresive or powerful. You can try to look for shells which appear thanks to the water\'s move or by killing monsters for giant ones.
The music must be islands music with xylophons sounds or something like that with the sounds of the \"sea\'s\" waves. the trees are palm trees and there are some rocks on the sand and brooks dropping water in the \"sea\".

I said \"sea\" because Im not sure you want a sea in Yliakum.
