Lol, you dont get out much do you? sorry,  \" above anything else\" that Statement is a little scary to me.

I\'ve no idea what gave you that impression :) PlaneShift is a role-playing game, and as such, everything needs a roleplay reason.

CerviasG: Vampires require some form of open PvP, which won\'t happen on a \"worldwide\" scale. And confining Vampires to free PvP zones only will be silly, since those areas will be tiny compared to the entire world. It\'s odd that you should mention \"bullets,\" since there will be none in a medieval fantasy.

Where there?s a will there?s a way
I?m sure there is some process in which this could be done and still apply to the overall theme of the game

sorry about the whole bullets thing... just thinking from the book not from the game right then.. how about... Arrows, thrown hatchets, ect. will kill them as well.

I don\'t see how it would need the PVP... cause it would be volenterally... Both hands on both people are cut and touching.. if they change their mind they can pull away and run... of course a confirmation is needed... Wait I get it now... the feeding thing... Vampires don\'t feed til the victem is dead... they just take a small dose, they do knock the people out with their breath though (gasses that only full vampires can make) and they just make a tiny cut and feed just a little, then they rub spit onto the wound to help heal it faster. when they wake up after about 20 mins. they won\'t even notice... besides the fact they were asleep... Or you could always just sell blood somewhere lol.
*EDIT* You can also survive off animal blood although much more is needed to keep you alive.

In morrowind they are outlawed from almost everthing And must stay in the shadows of society. Maybe even become infected with it from a rabid animal bite

hmm idk if I truly like the whole PVE thing then... just look at it this way... there is a full vampire.. he meets someone that knows he is a vampire and wants to become one too, he \"bloods him\" but only a little bit so he/she becomes a half vampire... every full vampire has an assistant that is a 1/2 vamp. This way the assistanct can run the errands that are needed during the day and the vampire can come out at night. I for one would rather be an assistant... and the only real way to tell if some one is a vampire is if they have scars on each of their fingertips ;) very secretive. *edit* ok since you wouldn\'t be able to see the scars on the fingertips of the charector models so it would be automatically put into the description window (I really gotta think things out first)

Changing the model to give the player, upon turning into a vamp a more sinister look.

I never said that... I just said that they might turn pale if they are full vampire.. but that is only over time... think of it this way... You are tan... you become a full vampire... you stay out of daylight... how long do you think it will take for you to become really pale to where it is sickening?

The idea of vampires is just silly....vampires are linked to the whole lost souls/hell thing...there\'s no hell in planeshift, there\'s a death realm, there can\'t be undead because you get \'reincarnated\' when you escape the death realm.

Like was said, the aim of planeshift is to make a world accurate to its background story.  It\'s pretty obvious that some of you writing about these changes you want don\'t understand the story behind planeshift.  It would probably benefit your argument to do so.

That being said, I wouldn\'t personally see anything wrong with some sort of \'leeching\' npc baddie.  Not a vampire though.  Some baddie that gains back life when they attack you.

Goodie NPCs that turn into baddie NPCs after nightfall may also be doable...but not specifically werewolfs.  Maybe a town that is filled with kind merchants by day but during night, the inhabitants turn into beasts of some sort.

The PVP thing would turn the game into a rush to level up for noobs so that they could survive long enough to have fun.  It would get silly.  When someone is new they most likely will not join a guild for \'protection\' immediately because they probably will not know anyone else in the game.

Personally, I\'m more concerned with the game being developed as planned by the original vision and not bastardizing or \'selling out\' to try and make people happy.  If you don\'t like the story behind the game or the gameplay the game promotes, find another game to play maybe?

The subjects of \'dragons\', \'vampires\', and \'werewolfs\' have been beaten to death.  They do not fit into the game.  There are things that may fit into the game that have qualities similar to them though.  Use some imagination and come up with something that fits into the planeshift world.
It\'s amazing how we can do things simultaneously, like talking and not listening.

ok... let me add one more little detail about the whole vampire thing... You don\'t die, then become one, You just get \'blooded\' and the vampire blood mixes with yours... so therefore... YOUR ALIVE. No re-encarnating, no death... just simple mixing blood. I have read the background history.. I\'ve read it 10 times to be exact (yea I know.. what can I say though, I get bored sometimes...) anyways... think about it... the story is still PRE-ALPHA that means that if we wanted to we could add on a ton of stuff to the story and no-body but the people playing right now would know the difference. And about your first statement Goland: Vampires aren\'t linked to hell or lost souls... You don\'t lose your soul, you don\'t lose anything... when you die you go to what they call a \'paradise\' which would be our \'heaven\' if you believe in that... Think about how Hitler was out to create a \'super race\' and he was succeeding for a while.. think of Vampires in that way but they have alot more MAJOR drawbacks... Ok well its 2:42a.m and I need to be going to sleep. I stated my case for the night, please don\'t close the thread yet cause there is more I would like to say tomorow...

Woah there, buddy :) You\'re not on the Settings team in development, so you have absolutely no right to try to change the story - this isn\'t your story to change.

No no, you\'ve got it wrong :) It is the game that is in Pre-Alpha stages - the story is taken care of entirely by the Settings team, and is fleshed out to a degree far more than you know of at the moment. No one is allowed to try to manipulate the main story of PlaneShift, as harsh as that may sound. So please don\'t attempt it.
