Run time error...
« on: August 06, 2005, 01:31:18 am »
Okay, I\'ve searched around and haven\'t been able to find a solution to this problem, however if there is a thread please point me to it.

When I try to start up Planeshift it comes up to the loading screen(the one with the three faces) but then immediatly closes out saying

\"Runtime Error!

Program: F:/program files/Planeshift crystal blue/psclient.exe

This application has requsted the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information.\"

After I press \"ok\" it closes out and nothing else comes up. I\'ve tried running the updater and it updates normaly.  Someone help, please.

I also have this error now.
I know there are several threads about this, but it seems like none of them shows a solution.
Has anyone ever found a solution?
If you can, please help me quickly, if not, some might please greet Elesiy and Proglin from me, because i am missing their merriage.

If you have an AMD or otherwise non-SSE chip, read the threads on that.

Yes, I have a AMD processor, but this problem never occured before. I also downloaded the non SSE-version (and used it properly in the PS directory), but the effect was still the same.

So if you have a thread with a different solution, please give me the link, I got tired when searching for hours. And if not, I will try again from time to time, because in one of the threads about this runtime error it is said it has mystically solved itself.

In the meantime, I will continue cursing Bill Gates (I do not know if it really has anything to do with windows, but I do not care, I blame windows for almost all problems I have with my computer), play something else and hope PS works again before I also miss the tournament next week.

*edit: Just in case this helps in any way:
My processor is x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1 AuthenticAMD ~1800 Mhz
I have windows xp
Planeshift worked fine until about 40 minutes before Proglin\'s and Elesiy\'s wedding (AAARRRGHHH, I hate you, Bill Gates) on March 7 22:00 GMT.
When I get the error message, there are still almost 300 of my 768 MB of RAM free.

*edit 2:
I used the -console command, and it gave me this information:

crystalspace.graphics3d.shader.fixed:
  Multitexture units: moderate 4

planeshift.application.client:
  PSLoader: step 2: success

<\\Luca\\Crystal Space\\planshift\\src\\common\\util\\psxmlparesr.cpp:282> ParseFile
:
  Could not find file: /planeshift/world/podium/sound.xml

planeshift.application.clinet:
  PSLoader: step 3:success

crystalspace.engine.warning:
  Lightmaps are not up to date .
  Use -relight cmd option to calc lightning.

Region hydlaa_common loaded successfully in 3641ms

<\\Luca\\Crystal Space\\planeshift\\src\\client\\zonehandler.cpp:250> psClientDR::HandleStatsUpdate
:
  Stat request failed because CelClient not ready for 1599

ZoneHandler::HandleMessage
:
  Still loading maps, ignoring crossing to sector
  SectorWhereWeKeepEntitiesResidingInUnloadedMaps.

crystalspace.maploader.parse.map:
  Could not open map file \'world\' on UFS!

<\\Luca\\Crystal Space\\planeshift\\src\\common\\psbehave\\psworld.cpp:407> psRegion::Load
:
  loader->LoadMapFile failed.

<\\Luca\\Crystal Space\\planeshift\\src\\common\\psbehave\\psworld.cpp:408> psRegion::Load
:
  Region name was: hydlaa_plaza

<\\Luca\\Crystal Space\\planeshift\\src\\common\\psbehave\\psworld.cpp:251> psWorld::ExecuteFlaggedRegions
:
  Loading region hydlaa_plaza failed![color]

then I get the error message mentioned above

The updater says all files are up to date.

So if anyone could help me now, that would be great.

Well, it looks like it might be the top one on Ary\'s list.  I don\'t think we have that much info on this one, yet.

ok, as I have no idea about such stuff, I cannot see the relation. If you can, I will accept that.

Only one thought:
it says
loader->LoadMapFile failed.

with hydlaa_plaza,world
not, as I would expect (I already mentioned I do not know much about it), hydlaa_plaza.world

If maybe that might be a error noone saw, I would be really happy if it helps solving the bug.

I don\'t think the problem is related to the fact that you see written \"Hydlaa_plaza,world\" instead of having a dot between them.

If the problem is related to the AMD thing, you have to carry on some patience waiting for a new client - obviously, if noone of the already mentioned workaround works for you.

If you get a diagnostic file, please, check the thread mentioned by DaveG.
Anyway, it doesn\'t seem you get any issue that appears already there, since your problem is on loading.

If you know that your character was in jayose area - I think - then you have to ask some GM to move your character.

Otherwise, try to be more specific in your issue :-)

Could you be more specific with that?

Anyway, I don\'t think it is the Jayose_Inside problem, I already had that some days before, and I used the solution whith the little change in the zoneinfo.xml.
And I am rather sure I did not leave my Character in the library.

Do you get a diagnostic file?
Where was your character?
Do you have sound on?
...

Just provide as many details as possible for put the situation into a set of circumstances.

Hmm... Although updater says, that all files are up to date it really looks like hydlaa_plaza.zip is damaged,  unreadable, or it does not exist. I can reproduce exactly the same error messages by simply deleting map file. Your character is probably near central part of hydlaa. Try to login as different character, for example create new Enkidukai to spawn in Ojaveda and move to Hydlaa.
Check, if the file art/world/hydlaa_plaza.zip exists, check archive integrity, check access permissions. If all seems to be ok, change the name of that file to something else,  run updater then compare old file with the new one. What is the size of that file (provide md5 sum if you can) ?

Problem solved
« Reply #10 on: March 18, 2006, 12:49:16 pm »
I made an Enki character, which worked fine until I arrived in Hydlaa. I got that runtime error message again then.
So I removed the Hydlaa plaza map file from my PS folder and used the updater to get a new one, and now everything is fine.

Thank you guys!
