Word of advice, Eggnogster:  Your first post should not be to whine...

The updater is still quite broke, just be patient.

EDIT:
Don\'t reinstall.  Just wait for the thing to be fixed.  Besides, the updater is smarter than you think.  Delete any file/folder and it\'ll re-get it.  (aka, partial reinstall)  But, since is searches for all changes from the norm on update, you don\'t have to do anything but run the updater, when it\'s working right.

If you have the time to spend, you can safely update now. It will not look like it is doing anything for a long time, but eventually everything will be updated.

If I am in error here, I appologize, I am just trying to provide as in depth of a report of what my problem is as to hopefully find a resolution for myself and others.

That is incorrect, the VFS system uses \"unix style\".

The updater is not broken, it just takes around an hour before it finds what is looking for. You can use the updater(recovery mode) version if you want to see some output while it does that. Either one should work properly, it will just take an hour or more of waiting.

This update fixes some crashes, as well as the constant bugs withe getting stuck.

I don\'t think so, but it\'s always possible  :P

It will. PS needs MINIMUM 385Megs ram to run nicely. 512 is recommended. With less then 256 it will crawl.

Disabled Zap and screeensaver, and it worked at last.

Many thanks.

My only disappointment, is that I still wait for mouse look to function from the mouse...

The current updater takes longer to locate files in the default working folder, than it takes to search half a Terabyte for a hash match.

Most of the time that the updater is running, there is no hard drive activity at all.

Not to be rude, and I am grateful for all the hard work, but why is it that everything that has recently been compiled for Windows, including game, updater and setup, constantly uses 100% CPU?

No matter how bad the optimization, there is something very wrong with that.

Run the updater (without the new vfs.dll) in text mode (stick -auto on) and you\'ll see 50 minutes or so of VFS unmount errors...  That whole time it\'s doing nothing but putting much effort into glitching.  :P

How descriptive errors can be........

Run the updater in \"recovery mode\" or whatever it\'s called.  (use the link in the start menu, or run the updater with \"-auto\" stuck on the end of the command)  Tell me what errors it gets.
