I think it would be better if you chose from a list of guilds, instead of posting a thread and being recruited by a random guild.

You should check Kada\'s list and then use your favorite guild\'s forum to request your membership.

Good luck.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and I can be reasoned with. I'm probably right, though.

Kada El\'s is not a list of all the guilds in game. A guild has to exist for 3 months before applying to be in the list.

I agree it is a good place to start but you should also check this forum for posts from other guilds and ask around in game. :)

Dark Empire:  Lawful Evil

Basically, join them if you want to have a foot in organized crime.... if you think there is honour in evil.  Theives and murderers are not welcomed, but assassins are considered to be in high regard.  They aren\'t well regarded by other \"good\" guilds, but they are the most powerful evil guild which isn\'t underground, and they have connections to underground guilds.

The Dragon Council

A bunch of powerlevellers which help noobies, say they\'re neutral, and don\'t pay attention when they\'re own members cheat.

Guild Knights

A mass recruiting \"neutral\" guild which in fact only lets in \"good\" members.

Feline\'s Lair

Are you a cat?  No?  Then get lost.

Knowledge Seekers

They seek knowledge.  Or something.

Explorers

They\'re typical nice enough in game and have a very in depth understanding of the map and secrets of planeshift.  They\'re very helpful and very knowledgeable.  Joining the guild is based on merit, but membership grants access to very accurate maps.  They won\'t invite you if they think you just want to join for the maps.

Guild Warriors

Anthony of Guild Knights guild.  They broke away from the guild knights thinking that the knights had become sterile and without direction.  They claim to be good, but they have connections to evil underground characters and rumours fly of theivery and murder.

Twin Blades of Arete

Worshipping perfection, members aim at being the most deadly fighters in the land.  Though evil, they value loyalty and obedience amoung their members.  Their leaders were inspired by Deus ex Trucido, and they consider themselves to be carrying with them a certain legacy.   Of course, Deus  ex Trucido sees them in a slightly different light.

Secret Guilds

There are more secret guilds than I can count, because there are more secret guilds than I know of.  \"Rilar\" knows much, as do other individuals.  If you are lucky, you might even be targeted by one of them.

i think shals list sums things quite well even if he is a little foward with his words. bascially the guild to join depends on the player...
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

Kada\'s List of Guilds requires a three month waiting period for a very good reason.  Because many guilds that are simply created in-game die out.

Kada\'s List represents the oldest guilds, the biggest guilds, and the best guilds.  The guilds that are on that list have been around long enough to know PS and to know the people of PS and that fact makes it a very good place to start if you are new to PS.

Only n00bs don't quote themselves...

I do not want to stir or upset but here goes.
Guilds of the realm.
Blitzers: seen one or two members.
Ordo illuminatis: never seen one.
Calen Vakhar: never seen one.
Zelphirien: never seen one.
New Guilds to Realm.
Ovates: never seen one.
Knowledge Seekers: seen lots.
Edhelgarth: never seen one.
sorry but no point in going on as it is to clear that it is not up to date ,that is why i pointed out good place to start but guilds have posts in this section too.  :)

You leave out Explorers and Feline\'s lair and say the list is not up to date? As Aendar put it, Guilds that have proved themselves are listed there- I see more blitzers then I do members of the \"Justice Warriors\" or whatever guild that was that had the most members before the wipe...
Many members does not make for a good guild

Sorry milady for i seem to have not made my point click on link to Kada`s in Sangwa post.

By saying I\'d seen none/few/lots I was implying that since I\'d never seen any members I was in doubt that these guilds still existed.

Janner was quoting guilds in the list following Sangwa\'s link, and if you do the same you will see that neither Explorers, Feline\'s Lair nor Justice Warriors are on the list.

Is there another Kada El\'s list somewhere??

Nope they are both there Pip :). About midway down in the planshift guilds of old section.  Not to mention that felines lair is very active and most often I see someone from Explorers online.  And the Blitzers and Zelphirien were very active in game before the wipe.  But seem to have gotten lost :(. Though I still see Zelphira around.

Another guild/not so much a guild that Janner left off.. is Sentinels of the Ragnarok which changed into the Community of Vaalnor.  I would say we have been quite active as well.  But you also have to remember none of the guilds on that list are mass recruiting guilds.. so teh chances you would see some of them would be quite low.

:D oh yes, my mistake, I thought Guilds of Old meant that they were no longer active.

I expected to see Explorers and Feline\'s Lair in Guilds of the Realm.

I imagine newbies would think the same and therefore skip that part of the  list when looking for a guild to join.
