« on: October 26, 2005, 06:13:18 pm »
After update I have noticed a weird lag. I attack but the actiion takes a minute or more to be effective. Also I cant loot, it takes long time and corpse dissapear before I get the item.
My ping to server is usually 1000-1200 ms and I havent hadnoticed such problem.

I think the problem is that the NPCs and everything connected to them has some weird problem that we are trying to look into it.

I really don\'t think you are the only one with this problem and I am afraid it is not just lag at all.

A 1 to 1.2 second ping is rather hideous...   ~300ms is what we\'d normally consider to be \"good\", so yes, it\'s your end.  (or rather, somewhere along your connection)

I never get less than 1000ms. But the game ran smooth with that.

I get a 200-500 ping, but I can hardly move at all. I\'m certain it\'s my comp, but I can\'t find a fix, so I\'m hopping similar threads in the hopes that someone else with similar specs will post one. One NOT involving money, so please save your \"you need more RAM\" and other obvious comments. I\'m a father of 3 and I\'ve got to work with what I\'ve got for now.

Intel Celeron 1.2ghz
256MB RAM
GeForce4 440 MX 64MB, latest drivers
DirectX 9.0c
Soundblast Live! 24bit
768MB vram pagefile
cable modem
2 antivirus/2 antispyware progs
Minimal processes running in taskmgr.exe, verified with enditall, a 3rd party task manager that shows hidden processes not visible in taskmgr.exe

Ok, please tell me you aren\'t running the two antivirus programs at the same time.
I was the one that suggested a bit more of RAM, yeah, I know, it\'s money related, but not a _huge_ amount, I made my suggestion with the best of intentions.
Also, if you had a router instead of a modem, you could transfer it some task and free a little the charge of your PC.
Anyway, things to try:
Antivirus, I\'m not telling you to turn it off, but really some antiviruses out there eat lots of resources, I\'ve heard Norton being one of those. If I\'m allowed, I could recommend Nod32 (again money related) but you can always try turning them off and see if that helps, just for testing.
Another thing I already told you was to play with windows services.
I had a nice link that explained them and suggested changes to them, but it seems now it\'s broken. Anyway you can always try Google and see if it helps.
It\'s said also that -fullbright (added at the end of the route of the exe file, after the \" and with a space between) helps a little on fps.
Are there any MoonSeekers left?

I hate to tell you the bad news, but when I log into the game, into a sector where with the current fall damage nobody is around, my client takes 380 MB of RAM. And this is the resident memory it needs. Virtual memory is up to 522 MB.

With 256 MB RAM almost 1/3 of the memory the game needs resides in the swap memory and is continuously read/written from the hard disk. Do not expect any performance that could be called acceptable.

When I leave that area and go to more populated areas (with keep maps loaded option turned on), it jumps up to 550 MB and more.
