Farren's Armor/Character Art Thread
« on: October 30, 2005, 05:26:26 pm »
Ok, I am making a thread for my drawings, which will mainly be characters and armor (or characters that show the armor).

Here is my start/Practice for Mitaki\'s character... I think I am about to tear a hole in the paper where the head should be from erasing :P

Here is some armor that I am attempting to draw, i have spent a total of 10 minutes drawing it so it is incomplete and also very undeveloped. There are parts I\'ll have to fix on it later, as well as change (like the right pauldron and chest)

I have drawn the legs with a bit of leg armor, so I will post it soon. BTW, tell me what you think of the upper body so far.

Here is the armor with legs.

are you using a cell phone camera or something? I cant understand why your images are so pixelated.

Btw, not bad on the drawings, try looking at some anatomy books maybe, and as arcan said, and as I have told to a few flowering artists. Yes...the legs should be about the same length as the torso and head combined, and the arms (hands included) shout come just over half way down the thighs. (look at the sig that I drew for example). As for the armor, I wont say anything particular, but keep in mind its functionality, its ability to move and its mechanical realism. If you look at mine youll see that the armor is very logical and would actually work as it is supposed to. At least thats my opinion.

Ok, after having improved my skills a little, I once again submit some attempts at armor.

Here is the main armor. I have to add footwear and armor for the arms and fix up the body armor.

and here, drawn separately from the rest of the drawing, is the helmit. I did this to save what I had done on the other one from being ruined as I searched for a technique and design to drawn the helmet. It also has my poor other designs, this one just started looking so good and i kept improving on it :P

Wow I\'m disproportionate!

My hands only come down to my hips and my legs are about the length of my upper body and two heads. lol

Then again I\'m legally a Choctaw indian who were famous for their running ability.  Maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway like the armor concepts a lot.  Definitely better than I can draw.

Well i must say that your new ones have improved a lot over the first ones, manly because of the shading.

A peice of advice though is that if you\'re going to be focusing on the armor or character, make them BIG. Dont be afraid to use a full sheet of paper just for the helm for example, you\'ll be suprised how incredibly detailed you can get it at that size!

You defenatly have potential though so keep them comin!

Ok, just to update a bit, here is a monster I drew when I got bored.... As of yet my best monster that I\'ve ever drawn at any angle but the side, and i think it\'s also kind of cool, though I\'ll probably redraw it a bit more neatly since I was just sorta drawing as I went and didn\'t think the thing out and it is all messy and stuff...

those are wicked cool.  I don\'t care what anybody else thinks.  The best I can do is stick figures lol.
There are two types of people in this world: The Pinky and the Brain.
Which one are you?

I mainly drew this for the armor, which is what i used for my new character description for the Fan-Fanart project.

It is unfinished, and thwat you see on his right side (your left) is what he originally looked like on his right, except he had a hand and a different kind of sword than what is in his left hand now. I decided to do the armor for his arms after i had done a lot more. I HAVE to do somethin about those legs though, they are bugging the crap out of me. I think i maybe need to modify his armor a bit and then learn how to draw some better feet.

Ooo I must say I really do like that armour, especially the no armour on the left (his right) personally I\'d leave him without even an undershirt (maybe I\"l have a go at that myself :P)... but then I have odd tastes in design, as for the feet, the shoes are just a tad too rounded if your going to go for a pointy hard looking outfit. and if I were to pick at anything in the pose I\'d just modify the direction the feet are facing, one way to see how they should go is to do what he\'s doing in front of a mirror and see how you put your feet naturally. all in though I do think the picture is very appealing and just from the pictures I see on this page you improve at an impressive rate. very nice indeed twah

Gods of spelling, I stand AGAINST YOU!

Hmmm... I\'ll keep your idea for the armor in mind, but i am planning on making this one complete. PErhaps i\'ll make the same type of armor again later in a different pose and modify it a bit to be less symmetrical and leave pieces of the armor out, like the one arm being bare. Thank you for the comment and advice, i\'ll keep the advice in mind, and i appreciate the comments.

[Edit] Adding: BTW, working on new boots and new angles right now.

ok, for the feet, first I drew this:

Then, after having been asked how it would connect, and then replying that it would connect under the shin armor, I added:

And then, after a little bit of practice, I slightly successfully added them to the rest of it:
