Garance and Edouard are married.  Edouard arrives home and passes an illegitimate looking fellow leaving from upstairs.

Edouard:  May I know the name of that man who just left?  Were you at the Funambules with him?

Garance:  That man?  Oh, him.  An old acquaintance.  He came to say hello.

Edouard:  A most peculiar individual.  What does he do?

Garance:  He writes.  To be honest, when I knew him, he was also a thief, and a bit of a murderer.

Edouard:  I hope there was nothing between you and this individual.  I trust you entirely.

Garance:  That does you no credit.  I\'ve never had occasion to lie to you.

Edouard:  True enough.  But please oblige me by seeing such people as seldom as possible.  Actors, perhaps, but thieves, murderers... isn\'t that rather appalling?

Garance:  Remember the young Scot you challenged to a duel in Edinburgh?

Edouard:  I remember quite well.  Why?

Garance:  He wasn\'t nearly as good a shot as you.

Edouard:  Of course.  Everyone knew it.

Garance:  But you killed him anyway.

Edouard:  Feelings, Garance, in an affair of honor!

Garance:  All because I smiled at him.

Edouard:  Yes.  In public, and frequently.

Discuss how people would react to this conversation if it happened infront of Harniquist with a moderate gathering of people around.  I\'ll save my comments for later.

Pretend that it was.  Instead of the original setting, transport it to happening infront of Harniquist.

the conversation basicly is a gealous husband who thinks his wife might be cheating on him at any moment.

Personally, if I saw this happening on PS...I\'d log off as fast as possible.  Some people take things way to seriously, and if someone ACTUALLY talked like that in game in all seriousness, I\'d probably stop playing PS altogether...

Now if it\'s just someone joking around...maybe if someone decided to use PS for a Machinima series (anyone thought about this yet?), I\'d say \"so...ok...I\'m going to the arena now...\"

This is a modified version of the conversation Pirakika put a stop to after Zanzibar killed three people, basically the whole lot of people in that area were muted, Zanzibar got the same punishment (though should have been punished worse then us) and Pirakika said something like this \"I told you that pointless conversations are not allowed\" and then \"when a GM tells you to do something, you do it.\"

My feelings on this ...

1) Conversations of that nature are normally kept in private, not in a public place like the plaza ... unless it is the intent of one of the people involved to publically call out the other person. In that case I\'d say the person who brings up the topic in public is a jerk :P

2) That conversation is completely unnatural and bad roleplaying in my humble opinion. It lacks all types of emotional involvement, the language is way too stiff and there is just no way that two people who are involved together would talk to eachother like that, let alone when one is suspected of adultery.

3) Are Edouard and Garance gay or am I wrong that they are both male names? :P

In short .. if I witnessed such a conversation I\'d probably tell the people to get a room for arguing and the (gay?) make-up sex later on.

If this is yet another of your \"I\'ve been horribly mistreated by the local figures of authority\" threads .. then you disappoint me because I honestly believed you were past that stuff.

Shouldn\'t convo like this be kept in a private room?

Edit: I should like... not push the reply button and leave it opened for half an hour while I forget about it and do something else.

Actually, it\'s a translation of some dialogue from the French film \"Children of Paradise\".

The business with Pirakika is quite different, and it\'s being looked into.  I\'m more than happy to talk with anyone about that event privately.

They are French names, male and female.

I\'d ask the person who went and posted it on the forums what point he has in doing so.

:D I would tell Garance to get a real man and introduce her to a few, and tell Edouard to have himself neutered.
;) (In RL I would approach a GM and ask them to silence the couple for no one really cares)
