XD Wow. Just wow.

That was humorously bad. The drum beat was so monotonous, and the lead singer looked like her had never used a guitar in his life. Kudos on the terrible norway metal.

zomg xD

If anyone actually likes that kind of stuff..... well.... they need to start listening to some decent music :P

Of course if there\'s money in it... a couple of us should start up a group....

We need:
Someone to whack some drums in a repeated pattern for 5 min...
Someone to scream random death stuff into a mic for 30 sec every other minute...
And a few people to strum chords on guitars non-stop, with the occasional random note played.

To see someone else make an ass of themself...

Probably thinks she\'s really cool :P

I am a self-proclaimed \"metal addict\". I love it! :-)
There is a certain level of skill required to play in this genre of music, just like any other. To each their own I guess. :-)

\\m/ Emperor!

Exactly. There is good metal, but they don\'t go by the name of Emperor. See: Slayer, Megadeth, Ywengie Malmsteen, and Pantera. Seriously. This has to be the worst metal I\'ve ever seen :P

They have a very nice production style though, I\'m very interested to meet the director seeing as he\'s the only one in that whole charade who has decent skill.

I am a metal head but don\'t always like the death metal genre.. this is an exception... I love this!

People who don\'t like it, don\'t complain, you have your music, we have ours!  :)

Metal is not \"BLAAAAAARGH RAWWWWWR SATAN OMGASH IM AN ABUSED CHILD RAAAAWR\"

Metal is Dream Theater, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer... and so on. Metal that sucks includes- Slipknot, Disturbed, aparrently Emperor too.

Dream Theater is about the best metal band I have ever heard, Petrucci is absolutely amazing at guitar.

Here is a dream theater song. The file is huge because the song is 11:30 minutes long.

Listen to Petrucci\'s crazy soloing. Emperor cant compare.

Dream Theater- This Dying Soul

Ywengie is among the most boring guitarists out there.  He can play fast, but... that\'s it.

And to those who think that Dream Theatre is the be all end all of metal... that\'s cool.  They\'re a pretty influencial progressive rock / progressive metal band, but there is better out there.  Opeth, Nile, and Death would be good bands to check out if you aren\'t familiar with them.

As far as bands like Slipknot, Disturbed, System of a Down, Korn, Adema, Lincon Park, Soulfly, Limp Bizkit, Kittie, and whatever else kids are listening to today.... who cares?  That\'s pop / nu metal.  Most of it is just hard rock, in which case I\'d much rather be listening to Helmet.

And further, you might know examples of bad metal, but that doesn\'t prove that the stuff you listen to is any better!

Here are some Nile videos I just found on google:

Slayer > Metallic x 10.

I think that there are a few traps to be weary of.  First, is those people who are usually younger and are just coming out of listening to the popular metal-influenced bands.  So they were listening to Slipknot and Greenday, then they discover Slayer and Black Flag.  All of a sudden, those slightly more obscur but still well known bands are the new cool for them, and they look down on the crap they were listening to before.

The thing to remember is that no matter what, there\'s always more out there for you to discover!  So while you\'re listening to popular bands like Metallica and Dream Theatre, don\'t forget that there\'s plenty of stuff out there which you\'ve never even heard of and which you might like even better!

I\'m listening to the Dream Theater song right now.  I haven\'t heard it before, but I\'m not too impressed.  The musicianship is good, but the song itself is rather generic.  There are parts which are seem to be taken right from Tool, but I\'d rather listen to Tool.  The heavier parts aren\'t really that heavy given how the metal tradition has developed and progressed.

Try taking Pig Destroyer or Agoraphobic Nosebleed on for size for instance.  Grindcore is mostly atonal like Meshuggah, only it\'s crazy intense.  I\'m afraid I don\'t have any links to give you, but my favourite Pig Destroyer song is \"Towering Flesh\" if you have the opportunity to listen to them.

And this is the second trap -- stuff which is heavy or loud, but remains easy listening, like so many of the melodic death bands out there.  It\'s heavier, it\'s louder, and it has distorted guitars - but it retains a pop aesthetic.  To me, if you like melodic death but not heavier stuff, then you\'re not really a metal fan.  It\'s a bias of mine, but I think that there is truth to it.  I think that there are a lot of people out there who simply want to listen to stuff which is more real than mainstream radio and which is more agressive, but they can\'t handle (appreciate?) the really progressive forms of metal such as black metal and genres of death metal such as grindcore and extreme power metal.

I think that\'s enough rambling on my part.  Oh, whoever sent me the dream theatre, I have 5 words for you:  \"Black Rose Immortal\" by Opeth.
