No, its not supposed to. I have the same thing. Some area\'s are so dark, I can only see the names above creatures and players.
I downloaded the new version, because the old one only gave blackness after trying lots of things said on this forum. Then I uploaded and these zipmaps, but the sewers are still too dark.

-fullbright might be a solution, but I don\'t know how. I right-clicked on the start menu, hit proporties and found the target line, but where do I type -fullbright. I tried after .exe, before and after the quotationmark \". No succes. (btw this would only be temporary)

The sewers are too dark.  It\'s not a bug, in this case.  The sewers map seems to be missing some ambient lighting.

I installed the file \"PlaneShift_CBV0.3.013.exe\", but when I tried entering the sewers, it said \"sector cannot be loaded\". Am downloading the sewers map now and hope that solves the problem.

You just need to run the updater.

Oh? But the website warned not to use the updater since the version 3.012 is there or something like that? Oh well, will do sas you suggest first. :)

Edit: It worked! Thanks! But still kind of dark...

There are somehow two kinds of \"too dark\" in the sewers - one is a missing ambient light level, another seems to be a partially confused lightmap. \"No ambient light\" alone may not be the only reason for suddenly black areas from one segment to another, in my personal opinion...

But no reason to cry about it, it is not hard to fix that:

Go into the sewers, try to get as deep into the darkness as you dare, then quit.

Extract the file \"world\" out of the file \"sewers.zip\", open it in a text editor which is able to edit huge files (Notepad in Windows 2000, XP ... is able, in Windows 9x/Me is not), search for the appearance of the text \"\", and edit it to:
Code: [Select]

      yes
      32

Zip the file \"world\" again into the file \"sewers.zip\". Enter the game using the command \"psclient -relight\". This will take a bit longer...

When you appear in the sewers finally, you should quit (else every map you enter will be relighted again). Then make a backup of the file \"sewers.zip\", or set it to \"read-only\".

And before you call me \"cheater\"... Hey, the option \"-fullbright\" is even more cheating. An ambient level of \"0.02\" is very low, yet more than total black. Use e.g. \"0.1\" if you prefer to see even more...

Thank you very much LigH!
Editing the world-file did the trick. I am using 0.3 als value and it\'s quite back to normal now.

That was only meant as a temporary notice.  The updater is ok to run on Windows, now.

The sewers being dark is just another glitch accidentally caused by renaming the sewer sectors.  art/world/lighting.xml lists the ambient lighting info, and just needs to be updated with the new sector names.

The update servers now have the correct maps and the ambient lighting info has been corrected for the sewers.

I\'m destickifying this thread.  Get this stuff via the updater, now.

Just downloaded, but have you updated as well?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.
