A Guide to Running Planeshift on Mac OS X Replies
« on: February 07, 2005, 02:36:28 am »
EDITED now that Cha0s\'s instructions have been updated :)

Currently the Sourceforge-hosted vfs.cfg is unavailable, should be back in a day or two.

If you have problems, DO NOT post in this thread, please post in the stickied thread at the top of the forum!

Thanks,
Daniel

EDIT5: libcal3d is still broken... :\
« Reply #4 on: February 15, 2005, 10:01:33 am »
If even after following the stated procedure to the letter you still get this error when checking the Console after the psclient starts up, plays music, flashes the splash screen and quits again before loading anything...

\"dyld: /Applications/PlaneShift 3D/psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient can\'t open library: /usr/local/lib/libcal3d.11.dylib  (No such file or directory, errno = 2)\"

...Then you need to go back into psclient\'s Contents -> Resources folder and copy the libcal3d.11.dylib file found there into the /usr/local/lib/ folder. There\'s probably a more elegant way to do it, but this solves the problem for me.

Edit: Doh! Nevermind me, I\'m just re-emphasizing that you make sure you do BOTH parts of step 6. Darn those multi-paragraph steps.

a problem .... again
« Reply #6 on: February 20, 2005, 06:16:48 am »
when i went to do the step  4  i didn\'t find the file libpng.12.0.dylib .... I don\'t have it. So  how i can solve this problem ?

I had already done the update ...

4. Open your Planeshift 3D folder and control-click psclient(.app). Select \"Show Package Contents.\" Open the contents folder and then Resources. Then, open a new window (File-> New Finder Window) and select Go->Go to Folder. Type in \"sw\" and hit return. If the file doesn\'t exist, go to your hard drive and create a new folder there called \"sw\". In the sw folder, look for a folder called \"lib\". If it doesn\'t exist, again, create it. Then, copy the file libpng.12.0.dylib from your Resources folder to your lib folder.

thanx for who answer it

If you updated correctly you have it. Note that the downloaded version is NOT the most up to date version. You MUST update via my updater or the normal one and they must run successfully to completion. Otherwise you can just forget the rest of the steps. It is possible that the server is down and thus you couldn\'t update. In the case you\'ll just have to wait until it comes back up.

Sorry Chaos i made a mistake ! I was searching the file in the last psclient .... not the new one after the update!!!!

Ok  I got into the game  but I have some problems in doing my carachter ... that I cant give him a job or put skills .... because didn\'t show in his creation the skills that I can give to him or the jobs...
is that normal ??

And one more thing..... when I\'m the server uploading  the hyplaa Plaza ... i waited more or less 40 minutes and nothings happens ...the is uploading but doesn\'t finish ... very estrange ..... I went to see if the server was down  but it wasn\'t ..... I don\'t know what to do

I thought in your last post that I need to do a update with the real updater from the game than the yours ... but when i will update this aplication didn\'t respond .... can I update Planeshift  in the \"terminal\"?

THanks for the patience!!!

thanx CHAOS for all your hard work for Mac users ... but I\'m still trying to play ...maybe one day I see u there heehe

I got a little problem : I have done all the stuff you said, but it says
\"You are not running the correct version of Planeshift for this server.\"
I ran the updater, but it quitted instantly (it seemed to be a normal quit).
What is the matter (I have seen : \"PlaneShift Crystal Blue (0.3.006)\") ?

I understand that you dont want to get the thread cluttered but what I dont understand is when you write DONT USE THIS: next to both links to the edited vfs file and I am sure that has confused other people too who are trying to use this guide.

It took me ages but I did all your steps, played it fine for about 30 minutes.  Come back a day later and it told me to update...

now, when I try and open planeshift  it says I need to update.... so I do...

now, the little icon only appears for a second, then disappears.  It won\'t update using its own updater.

So... yeah... all that work for nothing, huh?

error updater
« Reply #14 on: March 05, 2005, 05:39:07 pm »
the updater says it finishes but also says that it had error writing and copying the repository. I don\'t have the needed recourse files when i go to copy the lib thing to the other sw folder either. help?
