You two figured that out quickly

Ive never tried spamming the PS chat channel or would I even think of doing so.
Besides, Laanx takes care of those who dare try.

Another option if you're having say a wedding would be to go in-game and spam the chat with your message for about a week to make sure all people know about it... [clip]
GMs seem to frown upon stuff like that though...

And by doing that, you make enemys very quickly.
You two figured that out quickly

This is why I never did it.  :P Plus I got quite irritated with it from others.

Indeed. My point was that we need the events forum because else people will spam in-game.

My comment wasnt as to suggest you were saying otherwise.
I was merely stating.

I used to spam the chat channel for making my Shinito Blades guild. I think it was Neeve who let me do it, as long as it was IC. =P

The only events that absolutely have to be planned are GM events - but I think Kerol explained that already. We can improvise very quickly, but we also have to know in advance what kind of rewards we are going to give out and what kind of commands we may need to use (thus which GMs we are going to need around), so it's a very different situation from player events. I don't think these can be spoken of in the same manner.

When RP's are so controlled they don't even happen without looking at this in-game roleplay events forum, I'll leave.

I fear at least one of us two completely misunderstands the relation between the board and the game regarding this topic.

On one hand, board threads about roleplaying events often appeared after starting them in game. So they are often just a report (except for announced events like weddings or tournaments). Usually, the first contact to the possible members was made in game.

On the other hand, you might over-estimate the importance of this board. Some may be happy to read here before an event starts, if those who planned it prefer to reach as many members as possible. But some are not even interested to read about events, and will miss such an announcement (if it was at all started before the event).

Furthermore: Watch the channel "#planeshift-events" for one day. And you will no longer be afraid that GM planned events could siege the game! ;)

I'm not talking about GM events when I say that, I'm talking about roleplay all together. If you'd notice, a lot of the posts in that forum are just RP's, not events. A war isn't an event, and doesn't need a crowd to watch, it's an RP that only involves two groups of people, fighting for their own IC reasons. An event is when a group of people may...have fun, like at Zorbels and Satayne's wedding. They had a lot of planned things to do, cake? whatever. That's an event. Now, soon everyone will post every single RP there, event or not, and nothing will spark ingame unless being planned there. GM events are fine, and so are player events, but when all RP's are posted in that board, it gets ridiculous.

Well personally I like the read. I like to keep up to the stories. I like to hear about the characters. I like the posts. I would never want people to stop posting their logs and stories .... as I, nor anyone else can not be apart of everything in planeshift. I think it rocks when different characters get together and work on the same story. Reading about is a nice treat if I am not involved in the roleplay.

As to where it is posted, that is for the mods to decide. If it did becomes an issue that stories like the " Dwarvesbane War" can't be posted in "In Game Roleplaying Events" then I would like to request a section developed for these stories (Unless it fits in community writing section).

Well it's not an event, but something that would rather fit in the guilds section if you ask me.

Roleplay is roleplay. Don't worry so much about where things should belong, and just let people have the fun they want :)

Just because I think it needs to be said..
There are a whole lot of roleplaying events going on in-game at any given moment. The ones posted on the forum are the few that have gotten so large or have the potential of getting so large that many people are asking "what's going on?". It is simpler and less disruptive during the rp to have the background or beginnings posted for people to get the information they are looking for. It may not be perfect but than we are not all in PS 24/7 to see the rp develop first hand since we tend to get distracted by real life but would still like to participate in the rp. When enough people have asked..."What's going on?" someone usually suggests posting it on the forum and so they end up here. As Zorbels suggested if there are enough large rp's disrupting this section of the forum from it's original purpose than I am sure the moderators will give them their own space.

The beginnings of my participation in most major rp's..."Anfa, Can I talk to you for a moment?"  ;D

Cheers and see you all ingame!
