how to get mining skill to 1

as topic title says - how do ya get your mining skill to "at least 1", like it says to do in the Getting Started In-Game guide...

i trained the mining skill till the bar went all green, there is no yellow showing and no blue points to spend on it, but the mining skill is zero and i can't seem to mine (am mining in the corect spot for iron as far as i'm aware).

what's the deal, can someone please clarify?

You probably just need to adjust your spot a little. Sometimes you're successful and sometimes you aren't, even when you have a much higher mining level. Step back a bit, step to the sides, and you should be able to find a spot that really works.

soo...it's the case that we actually don't need mining skill "to at least 1"...and i just need to keep trying?

seriously, i moved everywhere in the area and kept getting that same response (you don't see a good place to dig).

You need to train to level 1 - part of training is the practicing. Maybe you are at the wrong spot? Double-check with others in-game, and perhaps try for something easier and more common, like gold.

it is a kinda specific spot, it took me a while to get exactly where i was suposed to be.

I thought I need to get to mining level 1 also, but this is not the case.

I spent a long time killing RATS yesterday so I could bump up my mining level. I managed 'till one point then I could not go any further (I could level up the other stuff).

I still had a mining level of 0 so I did not know what to do. I went for it and I managed to do dig some GOLD.

You need to train at least 1 theoretical level to be able to mine. Meaning a full green bar. You canot mine without training and the level will increase only after you practiced mining a bit. After that you can go get some more theoretical knoledge and practice again. But you need lvl 1 (theoretical) before you will be able to mine.

I checked the CVS but there is nothing regarding a change in that direction. Maby it is changed, I'll have to try.

The confusion is probably that when you bought training for level one (green bar, with red next to it) , until you practised enough (full green bar) the level number shown is still 0. So you can mine when the level number is 0, but you had theoretical training to 1.
