Let's see... the Klyros race description has several things that are almost diametrally opposed to what we find ingame.
Normally, you would expect that from the description, almost noone who intends to do serious fighting would chose a Klyros. Yet, Klyros are chosen more or less only by PLs, and you have quite a lot maxed fighters there. Similarly, we have quite a lot of comparatively bright Enkis, while their average intelligence is lower than that of the (supposedly not so bright) Kran.
It is quite obvious that PLs regard the disadvantage of no heavy armor as lower in comparison with the advantage of flight, even if limited to "a short time". Whether they would actually be happy with that choice if both were implemented, as well as the additional drawbacks of a generally weak and vulnerble body, I doubt. As things stand ATM, though, Klyros are just like any other race, save for a different model and different stating stats.
Additionally, the Klyros description suggests that Klyros are more or less peaceful (fishers, seaweed farmers, merchants), and believe in brotherhood within their race. That they are "brave hunters, travellers and fighters" probably holds true for unarmed targets only, where their claws can really make a difference, and sounds more like they fight bravely if necessary, not that they're seeking combat or are exceptionally good at it.
Yet, the ingame Klyros tend to be almost exclusively fighters, not peaceful at all, and surely do they show nothing of brotherhood. However, this doesn't necessarily surprise, since PLs aren't usually the kind of player that bothers with RP, let alone appropriate RP, and it is my observation that Klyros are at or near the top if you rank the ratio of bad or nonexistant RP compared to race chosen. Therefore, the great potential for RP that has been mentioned does not seem to be any sort of factor in determining whether one selects a Klyros or not.
I, too, view the Klyros as a good choice for assassin/spy type of chars, though Enkis would be even more suited for that. Additionally, they would make good scouts, as they are both able to go to most places and not be defenseless (against natural foes).
The merchant personality I haven't found at all within the ingame Klyros, as that sort of thing tends to be pursued by dwarves.
So @Ryvis: given the amount of "butt they do kick": about average, given that races without explicit models tend to have a much lower turnout. Given the amount of "butt they will kick": a lot too many, and should the current playerbase be suddenyl transferred to PS 1.0, I'd expect to see a severe drop in that number.
Oh, BTW, it says "fast in air, water and on the ground". Not faster. I really doubt they could outrun an Enki.
Regarding the ability to shoot while in flight: That depends heavily on how stable the flight will be. It might be similar to the RL riding archers, though only if trained properly (and I severely doubt that any notable percentage of Klyros would), not to mention that the wings will make handling of bows harder, and also that the bows will not shoot accross large distances, which can easily mean that an aerial strike wouldn't be so much better.
If I were to send an aerial strike force, I'd likely recruit Kran. Why? Because due to the high average STR, they can use huge bows that do a real lot of damage, and the flight can be accomplished with the use of flight magic by a few mages hovering my squad. (Kran may not be able to use advanced magic, but advanced magic like flight is unlikely not to work with them, as it woulld likely not need to bypass their resistance towards magic). Plus, my Kran would be comparatively immune to the counter-attack of arrows from my ground target, and they can also, once the resistance has been broken, land and finsh off the opponent.
