I am relieved we no longer have to be unique in the entire real world, (on Google) as well.

My thanks to the voices of reason.

I don't ever recall us having a rule about disallowing real life names. What are you referring to?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I do. Anything that was a mundane "Bob" or "Bill" or "Jane" used to be disallowed/changed by GMs. It was a while ago though.

That's so bad :x

At least it stopped being enforced months and months ago.

I believe it was before the GM shake up that happened awhile ago.

The whole point of the naming policy is to prevent the players, when talking to a person to feel like they are talking to an object, and keep a name being a name. When you say "hello" to a player named "soup" or "killermachine" or "mekillsyou", I bet the feeling of having a conversation with a "person" isn't that present. And that's why we have the naming policy.
