Character Race/Guild status in info?
« on: February 09, 2003, 06:45:42 pm »
I think there should be (if profile selections can be altered) a place where you can specify your character\'s race (or undecided) and tell what guild you belong to (if any).

That\'s a good idea, I mean, you COULD put it in your sig, but that takes up space that could otherwise be filled with something else

Shouldn\'t be too hard to do. I mean there is already a location field. Maybe just alter that to what race you with to play and mark your guild after it. I am by no means a master of admin abilities on boards but it would seem like something that could be done.

Well, i guess it\'s not hard if you speak php fluidly (i think). And i seem to remember a post a while back from one of the team members who said that they would need someone with good php skills to create a better site then we have now.

So i think it\'s safe to say that they don\'t have the people with the knowledge yet to do this (correct if i\'m wrong).

I have only looked briefly at the burning board code, but most of these PHP based boards are not too hard to mod.  Just in case I get a lot of free time (and the code isn\'t crap... they are running an older version....hopefully, it would only take half an hour or so), is there anything else besides race/guild you guys would want?  If I get time (and permission) to add it, it will be after the MB release.

Also need None as an Alignment choice, it is different than undeclared ;)

Ya, like in my sig..., I have nothing else to put in there that really fits these boards, so I went ahead and did that, but being able to put the stuff I have labled in your profile, and then it could show up under post count and what not, I think that would be pretty cool and was somethin I\'ve been thinking about myself.
Name: Frankuuu
Race: Dermorian Elf
Chosen Path: Warrior
Alignment: Neutral
Guild: N/A
Location: Yliakum

I fight for my destiny, if yours crosses mine, the only outcome is for me to prevail, whether you live or not depends on if you get in my way...

You know what would also be a good addition? A slightly more eye-catching Private Message thing. I didn\'t know that I recieved a message until I just happened to be spacing out and my gaze happened to fall upon the \"1 messages, 1 unread\" thing. It\'s not exactly the most conspicuous little alert doodah. Maybe if you could make it all bold and red when there\'s unread messages.

or some kind of pop-up notification for when you have private messages.

Like \"You have # private messages in your inbox\" And then two buttons at the bottom of the pop-up \"go to inbox\" and \"Close Window\"

Note that this isn\'t a board we created ourselves. It is Burning Board 1.1.1 by http://www.woltlab.de
<Worf> These are the moments when my ego gets put back on the ground. I use linux for quite some time, and am soon 2 years maintainer of a linux distribution. I started to think I would be good at it. But then I tried to get planeshift running.

but that doesn\'t mean that it can\'t be modified. There are many people who do that with boards.
