i agree with assertion that it is best to take critique quietly not personally
the organization started on the fly
its leaders have asked for help
people have offered some
I love that evil folks have come into the thread to offer critique and for my part i thank them.
now to making something of this . . .
I have the system that i used to aid new players when i did that more often I will post it here for all interested parties to edit or critique, I ask that people do so in a manner that contributes to it.
If the other members of Illustro decide once the critique finishes to use this system to aid the new i will give it as a gift to them. One thing that is important to consider is Illustro's capacity to do all of this in multiple locations hydlaa and oja and that i felt it worked well for us because we were in a fixed position at the temple. Much of this needs some alteration and reordering, i know teach them how to speak first. Another note is that all of this is now done in group chat by the Vespers.
OPERATING PROCEDURE
- If the person coming wants help and he can be helped with little effort and time spent (for example telling him a tip, the name of a place or the name of a character, etc.) he can just be helped (just introduce yourself, make him introduce himself and help him).
- If the help needed requires more effort or time spent than those examples said, we must follow this order:
REVISED QUEST SYSTEM
1.- Introduce yourself
[use bind # 1 at the end of this post to get a standard example of introducing yourself]
2.- Make the person coming introduce himself or herself.
3.- Make the person do the Forum quest. [Use bind number 3 at the end of this post.]
4.- Teach them how to use brackets properly, that is:
- Explain to them what IC speech and OOC speech means.
- Give them examples [lol, haxxor, ;P, lagging, leet speech , game mechanics are not to be said outside of brackets]
- Tell them to use square brackets when speaking OOC, to keep the role playing atmosphere (and to avoid being punished by Game Masters, who are invisible sometimes). [Use bind # 4 Wanchu’s Wicked Washing]
5.- Drop the Person off at the sewers teach them combat if they need and tell the person to kill some rats until they are filled up on rat parts and to return when this is done for more advice and a reward quest. [Use bind # 5 Kernow’s Combat Compendium.]
6.- Give the person 100 tria to buy a pick from Harnquist, and have them get Harnquist to teach them mining with their newly acquired pp, tell them to return when finished.
[Use bind #6]
7.- Arrange two or more new players in a group with a Musing Missionary or greater Vesper to go on a walking tour of Yliakum this is to include the Death Realm[and how to get out], the arena, the library, point out where Boralis the armorer is and tell them to remember where it is, the face, the ruins, and Ojaveda, and finally the magic shop, While on the tour have the person sell the rat parts the eyes are sold in the DR and the Hides in Ojaveda. [Use Bind # 7 explorations]
8.- On the way back drop the person off at the magic shop mining place to mine some gold, once they have ten ores tell them to then go and speak with Levrus at the magic shop and say “give me a quest” this should be a quest for gold they give one ore Levrus then return. The other ore is donated to the church. The ore should be given to one of the Laughing Choristers for the Choristers to carry to Crystal, Memienta, or one of our other smelters. [Use bind # 8 Diggah’s Digging Diary]
9. – If they return give the person 5k tria and send them to Boralis to get armor and bring it back. When they return tell the person it is a gift from the Vespers of Laanx.
[Use bind # 9 the first gift]
10. - Make the person do the Death Realm quest find 3 people to help out of there, it does not matter how long it takes make them do ALL three. [Use bind # 10 Death Realm]
11. - Give them the 6k for the glyphs and send them to Levrus again as a reward. Have the individual return when finished. [use bind # 11 Magic shop]
12. - Teach the person to use their spells and bind them as shortcuts.
[Use bind # 12 Memienta’s Magick Manual]
13. - If the person wants help, then give the person help. After you help the person or if the person does not want aid ask them OOC in brackets [what type of character are you a thief? a wizard? a priest? Evil? Good?] Send them all to me with their answers for now. Only ask the truly bright ones to join the Vespers of Laanx. Xillix will send all others and anyone who is bright who says they would NOT like to join to another guild.
[Use bind # 13 who are you?]
14. - If the person is truly bright and seems inclined, ask if they are interested in joining the guild, then make the individual put in shortcuts all the binds that are at the end of this post and the prayer [Use bind #14 Prayer]
15. - Tell me or Leament a person is ready to read the guild advancement requirements and Xillix or Leament will give permission to view the private forum for that purpose.
16. - If all of this is ready and you have heard them speak the prayer tell Xillix that the person is ready to join the guild
Exclamation Go in to your planeshift folder, in the options folder there is a file called shortcutcommands.xml, open it up with wordpad(right click the file, then scroll down to open with) then replace shortcut 11 with this.

It doesn't happen immediately. Then, create spells. Drag a purified glyph into one of the four empty slots in the bottom left corner.]
Bind number 12a : Memienta’s Magick Manual Continued
/say [You can drag more than one, but it won't always create a spell. If the combination creates a workable spell, a description of it will appear in the box to the right. Then, click the middle of the three buttons in the bottom left corner to save the spell in your spell book. Then, you can go to your spell book, highlight the spell, and press the button to the right of the center at the top to cast it. The button looks like a hand with a glow in the middle of it. Now to teach you how to bind one to a shortcut, press the button that looks like a squiggly with an arrow at its bottom pointing to the right, then drag open the short cuts dialogue window by pulling it from the bottom right corner, then choose a blank one, then left click, then title it wind, then in the open space type /cast defensive wind, then set a key to activate it, then use the f1 key. You can repeat this process for all the spells.]
Bind number 13: who are you?
/say you have now comleted the current quests offered by the temple and you have some options but first you must think about who you are . . . [now that you have done all of this I would like you to consider what type of character you are and how you fit into this world. Are you a Miner? Are you a thief? Do you respect the law, Do you want to vanquish evil? Do you want to perpetuate evil? Are you a ranger or woodsman? Are you a wizard, Are you a priest? Are you a loner? Give all of this some thought, and unless you think you want to be a priest of Laanx, go to Lady Xillix Queen of Fools with your answers] respond when you have something to say, is this agreeable?
Bind number 14: Prayer
/say Forged over the hard hearts of atheists/With the molten metal of the faithful/And skilled the hammer strikes of the soulful/Laanx's book of names hath called for its priests./Tend now to the chaos in the crystal/Let his mighty name ring forth in echoes/And scatter his enemies in death throes/While awaiting converts at each portal/For Laanx highest lord of Yliakum/Hath made a home of this cold lifeless stone/And brought souls from the azure sun. Let none/question the lessons of the crystal's hum./And let us pass in passion the messages/Marked out for us each in Laanx's passages.
