Crafted weapons
« on: October 15, 2006, 12:57:12 am »
When crafting was first implemented i decided to collect crafted weapons made by my good friends and have over 15 crafted weapons...today there was a world shout saying anything over 300/50 will be deleted.Im just wondering whether if the owner of the crafted weapons could keep his weapons if he DOES NOT use them.

Ive spent over 500k buying these weapons and never plan on using them they are simply collectible in my eyes.

If you aren't planning on using them or giving them away, then there's little point in having them.

I'd have to disagree, Zanzibar ...I was given a set of daggers by a good friend and I am fond of them for the thoughtfulness ...and I will keep them simply because she gave them to me.

The Crafting-system has been bugged for along time already.

After talking with a Developer, it was told that the maximum quality is set at 300 for all crafted items.
But because of the bug, the players can exceed this maximum very high.
Some people are walking around with weapons, that have a quality of 4000/50.
The cheating part is, that how higher the quality is, the higher damage you do to others.

The GM-team will get some updates, that will give the option to view the stats of a weapon very quick.
When very high boosted weapons are found, they will be removed and destroyed.
And crafting or using those weapons is seen as abusing the bug.
And everyone knows, that abusing a bug is considered cheating.

It will be up to the Developers, what will happen, when the bug is fixed.
Most likely the crafted weapons can be wiped or stats are lowered automatically.

Is this going to be a banning offense? Now we have people in game running around getting hysterical because they think they might be banned even though Tarel did not say this. I think announcements like this should be indicated publicly first rather than in game, because it creates a lot of confusion.

A friend of mine gave me a sword last night that he had spent 3 hours making not including the mining and the metallurgy work, it was the fufillment of a promise he made a long time ago. He was very happy about being able to do that. And now this kid gets to be labeled a cheater because people throw this word around like nothing. He didnt cheat. He used the system.

People have put a lot of time into crafting these, and it is not like you can repair them back up to the original quality...

I am just wondering what effect 300/50 has on the damage and how it compares to found weapons as to slash value. Would that make a base 2 slash weapon effectively a slash 12 weapon i.e. 600% increase? Does the damage it does decrease as the weapon loses durability? Will it be possible to repair the weapon back to its original over-quality or will it remain as it is now that it cannot be repaired until it is less than 50/50?

The damage will be lower.
The higher the quality, the higher the damage.

Besides that, it is known for some time already and not comming as a suprise.
I reported this bug already some weeks ago.
Only now it has been started to actively watch for those weapons.

I doubt very much that anyone will be banned unless they go crazy with some bugs and very visibly upset the balance of something major for a large number of people. Overall, not likely to happen with this.

I have spoken with the Developer (who is in charge with the craftingsystem) and he is going to work on the problem.

We can expect a fix in a couple of days from now.

People will not get banned, but weapons can be removed from the game, when it has very high boosted quality.

instead of automatically removing the weapons ...could they be reset? I have a pair given as a gift that I keep ...and would be very disappointed if they were to disappear.

If that was possible, we wouldn't have had a weapons wipe some time ago

I'm just curious, what's the point of crafting now?

Is there a way for crafters, either now or in the future, to create very strong weapons?

If not, will there ever be?

If not, why craft?

I imagine there will be...it's a fine line between having crafted weapons too strong and having them too weak.

Make them too strong and everybody will craft,
too weak and nobody will.
