I guess I'm not in a position to really understand.  I've never owned a gaming station.  I grew up playing on a Commodore 64.  The games I've played most recently are games from the late 80's and early 90's which I've taken from abandonware sites and have had to use doxbox to run.  My roommates are into this stuff though so I've been introduced to games like final fantasy and grand theft auto, but it's not what I grew up with.

I gots a snes.  I'm not one into consoles.  I'll just upgrade my compy from time to time.

Oh and what's worse, quitting your job to wait for one or shelling out over a million to buy one over auction?

I saw PS3 campers outside Fry's today. I didn't even know what they were there for till I asked one of the store employees. It's tempting to walk by and shout something like "PC's rule!", then run for my life.

I've never been impressed by consoles.

I love how people have the money to spend millions on a game consol, yet western politicians drag their heels kicking and screaming whenever they're asked to raise the minimum wage.

I love my gaming console.  I'm just not a gamer and pure FPS aren't my thing.
Still, I'll be getting one.  When I'll be getting one is another matter.

I haven't had a console for soooo long...since that Nintendo family thingy. Good times. I'm a Elder Scrolls freak, and strongly beleive that it's played better on agood PC. So, yayyyy PC's.
Talamir - DeT, Dark Empire, etc, etc, etc.

I have yet to find a game that isn't played better on a PC. In my opinion the ONLY thing that consoles have over PCs is the ability to have multiple players playing the same game, on the same machine, in relative comfort.

I am considering buying a console sometime in the future. First and perhaps best reason, No crappy Windows Guess it won't be an xbox ;) Second reason is I won't need to keep upgrading my computer just to play games.
Hey. Guess what? it ain't gonna be a Sony either. Don't want their drm crumbware. Guess I'll go Wiiiwiiwiiwiiwiiiiiiii all the way home. Unless it takes long enough to get around to it that they have something else.

I haven't upgraded my computer since I bought it three and a half years ago.  It depends on the games you play.

That's actually flawed reasoning. They come out with new consoles in the same way they come out with upgrades for computers. If you want to play old games, you can do that on the computer just as well as on a console. It does take some of the annoyance away when you "can't" upgrade your console, though.

I don't really agree. Because the consoles are stand-alone units they tend to have new versions less often. There is no upgrade there is just a new version. The games that are released for these are "dumbed down" for the capabilities of the platform as far are hardware requirements go. If you are into the bleeding edge of pc gaming you need to upgrade your parts pretty much every year just to stay even. Even if you are buying last years tech every year you will still spend about as much as it costs to buy a console.

I have had my current PC configuration for about a year and it was year old tech at the time. I went into a store this summer and was looking at games and the salesman told me I likely could  not run any of the games that just came out. With a console you know that they will be putting out new games until sometime after the new version comes out and typically there is 5+ year cycles.

Besides it is more relaxing to sit on the couch in front of the tv tham hunched over a keyboard in front of the computer. O--)

I will be laughing when all of the first units are recalled because of some fault, or they need to upgrade some part due to some unforeseen problem. Never ever buy a first run product. Wait six months at least. Better yet, wait until the next system comes out, and get two of the old one along with tons of good games, and hook them together on the 52inch Hidef in the living room, and the 100inch screen in the theater room (surround sound in both, of course, but still need to install shakers). :)

The one thing the PS3 has over the other systems is it plays Bluray, and is the cheapest player on the market by $300 at last count. In this age of multi-tasking electronics, a system that can't stand as the center of your entertainment system needs to go back to the drawing board. It also has gyros in the controler like the Wii.

And what is with the Wii's lame 'wand'. Billions of dollars at their fingertips, and an ugly, remote-shaped...thing with a tail is all they can come up with? Come on. Put the sensor in a smaller package that snaps into any other type of controller you could imagine. I have seen better looking cheap universal remotes.

The 360.…hmmm. Haven’t been hearing much about it. That can’t be a good sign for them. ;)
